To preface, I am not writing this review to give this business a bad name, but to show the business a customer's perspective regarding what changes need to be made. I brought my vehicle in for a brake replacement. When I first dropped off my truck, they said it would take until the end of the day to be fixed and that I could pick up my vehicle before closing at 5:30. It was 5 o'clock, and I still hadn't heard anything about my truck being ready, so I called them to see what the status of my vehicle was. When I talked to them, they said it wouldn't be ready until very early the next morning. I am not a mechanic, and I know that things come up and timelines can change, but you need to let your customers know ahead of time so they can plan for ride arrangements. They gave me no notice and would not have called me to let me know that I needed to make arrangements for another day without a car. This is extremely unprofessional and is not in the customer's best interest whatsoever. The next morning, I waited for a phone call to pick up my car because I needed it later in the day, but again they didn't call with any updates. Originally they told me it would be ready very early in the morning and that they would work on my vehicle first. At about 11:30, I was frustrated again because I had made arrangements to pick up my vehicle sometime in the morning but I still hadn't received a call. I had to call them again to see what the status was since I knew they wouldn't be calling me. They let me know that they didn't know why it was taking so long and could not give me any specifics as to why they hadn't made any progress. At this point, I didn't even know if I would be able to get my truck on the second day because no one could tell me anything about my truck (which is worrying for multiple reasons). I had to cancel my ride arrangements multiple times. It was finally ready late that afternoon. When I went in to pay, the front desk guy was standoffish and rude when nicely I asked for an itemized receipt. He acted like I shouldn't even ask what I am being charged for. The entire experience from start to finish made me feel like a burden even though I was just trying to figure out when my car was ready so I could figure out how to get to work each day. I would like to mention that my brakes were fixed adequately, and I have no issues with the repairs that were done, but the customer service was awful and needs to be fixed or you will continue to lose business. I will not be coming back nor will I recommend this business to anyone because it was an extremely stressful process. If the customer service would have been different, I would have left a very different review. read more

This clean automotive garage was recommended by my brother in law who is a mechanic. The reviews were all positive and I must agree and give these guys five stars. My 2000 4 Runner now runs like a champ! I went in for an estimate and waited about an hour in their bright, sunny waiting room with lots of great magazines. I wanted everything checked to be sure the car could make a long trip. As well, there was a "hot smell" under the hood. Turned out there was a leak in the valve cover gasket and oil was dripping onto the manifold. The light for the outside and heater temperature display had been burned out for many years. (I went to Brakes Plus to have that light replaced and they replaced the engine temp light instead). Simpson put in new spark plugs as well. I've used many auto repair shops since the mid 1960's with the 50+ vehicles I've owned. This shop is the best. When they work on a vehicle they spot future problems and note them on the invoice. This is a big help for me so I can plan future maintenance and pre-empt problems when traveling in remote areas such as south Utah. I prefer preventative maintenance and this shop is very good for that. Also, when they give a price for a repair or replacement they stick with it. Work on my older camper van isn't always easy. I've spend thousands of dollars there and I'm very happy with the results. read more

Wow! These people care. They work to meet your critical needs, beyond just a car repair, beat time expectations, while doing top-notch work. My 2004 Honda Minivan is embedded in many of the most joyful years of my life, and today is "mission-critical" in my food delivery work. I was referred to Simpson Brothers by another high-quality shop that does not work on hondas, and I stopped by and chatted with Paul and John last week to discuss my need for a quick turn around on my power steering issue. Since the minivan was still functioning, albeit leaving PS fluid along the way, we scheduled for this morning, which was a week out. I hoped that it wouldn't take more than a day, and I could have it back by 5 Pm. As agreed, I dropped it off by 8:30 and was happy to hear from Ron that they should have today's critical work done by noon. They gave me a ride home, where I was arranging a rental car, but before I could get that organized, and at 10:30, they called to tell me it was ready. The minivan is a "project" with lots of simmering issues, and we plan to get them done in "same day" service visits, but I'm cheered by the fact that, with their concern for meeting my needs, we will get it all done on a "triage" basis. It's great to know I'm now in good hands re auto repair issues. read more

I was a prior customer, but now will never go back. I am single, 65 years old and became disabled 10 years ago due to health issues. They left me with no transportation for over 24 hours. Luckily no emergencies requiring use of a vehicle occurred. I needed some brake work plus a couple of minor small issues fixed. I took their shuttle service back home as I have done on other occasions. Late in the afternoon, having not heard from them, I called and was told the repairs were finished , but they weren't sending the shuttle to pick me up because it was too late in the day. They told me I would have to get my car the next day. Needless to say I was not happy. So the next morning the shuttle showed up at approx 9:00 am and took me to my car. I believe they shuttled other customers before me. That was the last they will ever see of me and my $$$. read more

I had new brakes put on and one year later was told by Toyota that my rotors were warped because the brakes that did not dissipate heat were put on the vehicle. The extra heat plus the fact that Simpson machined the rotors instead of just replacing them, caused the warp and an entire NEW brake job is needed. I live in Denver and a NAPA store will warranty the replacement all except the rotors because they should have been replaced. I asked them to split the $97 cost for new rotors - no was the answer. Although I am a former employee from several years ago I will only get my vehicles repaired at Simpson Brothers Garage. Ron and LaDonna are honest hard working owners , as well as their technicians. If they tell me my vehicle needs something I can trust them. I recently had a brake problem on my Trailblazer. Not only did it fix the braking problem but the vehicle gets better fuel economy, steers better and overall feels like it's got 80 thousand Miles instead of 160 thousand miles . Of course they always fix whatever problem I bring my car in for, but many times I've brought my car in and they've checked it out and said that a certain repair was *not* necessary and they didn't charge me for work not done. Have taken two vehicles in too them for simple oil change and an aliment and both times I got a call from them. They state I had problems with the vehicles. Told me my van had an alignment problem that needed an adjustment that would cost $500 more. Stated no thanks and took it some place else. They did an aliment and guaranteed it for a year...NO $500.00 major problem too be fixed. With the other car on a oil change they found a problem that could cost $1000's if not fixed...again just $500.00 to fix. Called a friend who stated "WTF" and fixed said problem for $50.00. I live in Grand Junction had used to take my vehicles to Simpson Brothers 5-10 years ago ago and they always did good work at a reasonable price until I had a overheating/heating problem and would not heat the car in the winter. After they flushed out the cooling system and changed the radiator I still had the same problem. During this time I asked them to change the water pump when they were fixing something else, just to be thorough and assumed they did, but the car still had the same overheating/heating problem that I lived with for a few years thinking it was something else (plugged heater core?). A couple years later it overheated while I was driving down I-70. I took it to another repair shop and they quickly discovered the impeller on the water pump was shot and was probably the originally pump with 100K miles on it. They denied I ever asked them to replace the pump. They also didn't know how to rotate tires on a dually 1 ton truck. Had to make them put the tires back in their original position and have another shop do it. They were always anxious to point out other potential problems, some that were not even an issue. Hopefully, their ownership or something has changed in the last few years and they now run a better shop? Won't go back. read more
