They are good, honest, transparent and affordable - truly a small business worthy of your support and the mechanic you deserve to take care of your car. We found ourselves stranded in Grand Junction about 200 miles from home on a Saturday afternoon and almost had lost all faith in humanity after calling every single mechanic/tire shop in town trying to get help before every one closed for the weekend. All the big name corporate shops (Big O, Firestone, etc) were backed up or claimed they could not do diagnostics on our vehicle on a weekend despite providing outrageous quotes and having us stop by" just to see" before ultimately turning us away. Finally after stopping by 3 different shops and 18 phone calls around town, we found Good Neighbor Mechanics and they came through for us. This husband and wife duo are 100% good people. They are kind, honest, transparent and knowledgeable. We were told by multiple mechanics that labor would take 2-3 hours minimum and that we would have to fix more parts than we really needed to in order to get back on the road. Mike was able to fix our issue in a grocery store parking lot in 80 degree weather in under 45 minutes with out all the resources of a big corporate operation. With in minutes he was able to diagnose the issue and his wife Frankie drove across the parking lot to the parts store to get the parts they needed, which they didn't even up charge us for. Mike was very educational with me about what he was seeing under the hood and even made recommendations on things he thought I should address once we made it home. Frankie even followed up with us a few days later to make sure we made it home safely and that there weren't any new issues. Hands down this was the best experience with any autoshop or mechanic I've ever had.

The skid plate had come loose and was flopping around. I talked to Nick, who totally got the situation--I needed either parts and a repair or I needed a quickfix but I'd need my car to be ready to drive back to Denver tomorrow. I was already thinking through how I'd bail on my plans, but it was Nick to the rescue when he squeezed in my car's repair and I was back on schedule before dinner time. Thank you thank you thank you!

A few months go by and the thermostat that they replaced failed. I contacted them to discuss this issue, but the car was now in the metro Denver area and not near Grand Junction. I had no choice, but to take to car to a local shop (1 .6 miles from my house) as the vehicle was leaking antifreeze profusely and overheating; There was no way for the car to make the 4 hour trip to Grand Junction. I discussed this with Scott's when this occurred initially and the Service Consultant was unaware of any process to follow for warranty other than to bring the vehicle back to their shop. After getting the thermostat replaced by the local shop I followed up with Scott's and after multiple emails and phone calls to discuss their warranty, I was now informed of their process. With this new story, there was no way to rewind what had already been repaired by the local shop. I submitted a copy of the invoice and asked for credit for the repair to be used at their shop in the future and was told that wasn't going to happen. I asked for a manager to call me to discuss this further and have yet to receive a call back after multiple calls and emails. Scott's: I understand that parts fail, but what I can't understand is how you let your customer service fail.

Smitty's Garage in Clifton, Co. Best service I've had in…read moreages. June 25, 2010 - I was headed cross country from WA to CO - PPIHC. Traveling in an '87 Grand Wagoneer pullin' a 15' Aladdin trailer when I died at the Utah/Colorado border, looking at the "Welcome to Colorado" sign. I called AAA and, after some negotiation on jurisdiction, got towed into Grand Junction, Co (30+miles). The driver, whom I never met, suggested Smitty's as the place to go for an 'honest repair job'. I'm broke down - not sure what's wrong - no clue what a place named "Smitty's" is going to say or do. It's hot - gotta' go for it. The head mechanic took me in, let me park my trailer in the yard, ran an extension cord so I'd have power, let me use the facilities (shower, etc.). We (they let me be involved in all aspects of the work) worked on the Jeep (on-n-off for two(2) days) in between other jobs that came in - more poor broke-down folks from the hwy. They were knowledgeable mechanics - good troubleshooters. Not sure how many actual hours we worked on the Jeep - fuel delivery problem - but the bill didn't reflect it at all - very, very reasonable considering what we went through. I took off and finished my trip - 8500 miles. Next time I'm through Grand Junction I'll stop by to say Hi, and thanks for everything.
