On our way to Utah, our 1991 Westfalia failed to restart after a stop in Green River. My husband jumped the trigger for the starter motor to get it started again (which was cumbersome to access under the vehicle and took many tries) and while it was running, we decided to drive back to Grand Jct to Alpine Autohaus (based on their reviews). They were closed when we left it outside their shop so we had no idea if they would be able to fix it the very next day (on a Friday no less) so we could continue on our Utah camping trip. They were able to quickly diagnose the problem, charged us minimal labor time and sent us on our way by noon on Friday! Timely, competent and service oriented. Had planned to take our MINI to nearest dealership in Denver next week for a new battery but the battery died before we could get it there. Parts manager Brayden at the local VW dealership recommended Alpine Autohaus. I called Colton at Alpine Autohaus and explained our situation (we live 70 miles away) and he said bring it in and they could do it! Dropped car off and it was done in less than an hour. I took my car here to get a coolant leak fixed. Staff was consistently rude and unprofessional. I came to pick up my car at noon as they requested, and when I got there the door was locked and no one answered the phones. Over an hour later they got back to me and told me they all "decided to go out for lunch." At the same time they told me to come collect my car. I took my car in again for an inspection a few months later as it was still leaking coolant. I come back to pick it up and my door handle is BROKEN. They told me to come in the next day and they would fix it. I bring the car down, and they now deny that they broke my handle and want ME to pay to fix it, and also tell me they are too busy to fix it today would you please come back next week. Horrible experience from beginning to end with these people. I've since taken my car to The Foreign Aid, who did a wonderful job with my car and were very pleasant. Don't ever take your car to these people if you don't want your car damaged. read more

This review is a little late, we had our EuroVan worked on in May, 2021 (I would say repaired, but that would be too generous). First, an observation of their Yelp review page, I find it telling that they have not claimed the page so they could keep track of how people review them and have the ability to respond. Guess they just don't care. Anyway, we had to have our EuroVan towed into their shop, previous problem repaired by a different non-European shop was a radiator hose that had to be replaced. That shop flat out told me they don't work on VW, but would do the radiator hose. Five miles down the road, actually up the road, it's Colorado after all, the heater core blows (not the fault of shop 1). AAA got to us quickly and towed us from Ouray to Grand Junction, to Alpine Autohaus and the real problems begin. Before the heater core blew I had noticed the A/C quit working, so when I was talking to Alpine I told them the heater core blew and that the A/C had also quit working before the heater core problem. They said they would look at the A/C after they replaced the heater core, OK, great. Several days later, they said they got the heater core done, but every time they tried to turn on the A/C it blew the fuse and they couldn't give an estimate on how much it would cost, so they removed the "A/C fuse". I figured we could survive until got home (Washington state) and I could get the A/C fixed then. So we pick up the van, head over to wife's step brother's house to pack up and prepare to continue the trip. Sitting in the drive way the van severely over heats. Call Alpine, they say bring it right back. Next day they call and say they flush the radiator again to make sure there wasn't any vapor lock problems, test drove it three times, no problems. So, again, load the van up and head out. Get to first stop light, it's all the way down in Montrose, looked down at the temp gauge, which had been doing OK, but as I looked the gauge started doing a fast rise. Pulled into the nearest parking lot and called Alpine, they said we could have it towed back ... or, there's a German auto shop in Montrose. We let the van cool, added some water and drove it to them. As I waited for the mechanic to come out to check it, I opened the fuse cover to check which fuse Alpine had removed ... IT WAS LABELED AC / RADIATOR FANS ! ! ! WTF The mechanic at German Auto Work came out, raised the hood, and in less than 30 seconds say, "there's your problem." There are two fans with a plastic shroud around them, the drivers side fan had a fan blade broken off and the shroud broken and cracked. Not something shop 1 would have cause to look at, so not there fault, but Alpine should have caught it. As soon as the fuse kept blowing, you know, the one marked AC / Radiator Fans, maybe look at the f*&'ing radiator fans. So, do I recommend, maybe. That's all I can really say. They did replace the heater core, and it has been doing what it's supposed to do, but sending a customer out with the fuse for the radiator fan removed is utterly outrageous. read more

They agreed to work on our 1986 VW van and then immediately began complaining about it and whining that hey don't work on these older vans and etc. WTF? If they has said that upmfront we would have castly preferred to go elsewhere. They only did half of what we asked. They have a sleazy way of deflecting the customer by bouncing back and forth between what the phone answer guy says and then what then owner says. A moving target and ever changing. Poor quality work failed after 700 miles required tow and repair while traveling. Owner refused to warranty work and blamed it on worker who was no longer there. That's how he rolls. If you are told he not there and cannot talk to you, you can be sure that is bs. read more

My sprinter broke down and they were able to diagnose the problem. Although it required a specialty device to fix the issue because it's extremely rare and a really old vehicle, they were outstanding! They helped us every step of the way and went above and beyond to help us out. These guys are great! A true test of an auto shop is coming in with what sounds like a big issue when it is actually an easy fix. I had a clanking undercarriage that sounded like it could have been an issue with my transmission. I was prepared for a big bill, but the guys had my car fixed and me back on the road in 20 minutes for no charge. Sean, the owner, is honest and straightforward, and Chris who fixed my car is kind and funny and super helpful. Since I cannot choose a 0/5 rating I am giving this company a 1 star rating although they are not deserving of it. The office folk and service writer are more than helpful and deserving of a far higher rating. However, the certified mechanic does not have an education higher than a high school student taking an autos class. My sister took her car in for a simple fix and got it back with EVEN MORE issues. And not just that, there were parts not put back, a wire panel was sitting on the seat, an old cap from what they replaced was sitting in the engine bay, etc.. Same thing happened a time after, AND A TIME AFTER. Yes, another mechanic should have been in our minds but Brandon is supposed to be a trusted, hard working, reliable mechanic. I will not be looking farther into this shop as an option. read more

On a remote stretch of highway 50 an error code appeared on the dash of a vehicle new to us. We tried in vain to reach Audi support so continued on to Grand Junction. We arrived late Thursday night and began reviewing our options. Read a few reviews about Alpine Autohaus and left a message on their phone. Our call was returned at 7:30 the following morning. The owner, Sean Cotter, told us that even though the error light had not appeared on start up that morning he thought it wise to bring the car to his shop for diagnostics to determine what errors might be of concern. We arrived to a very busy, very clean shop. A knowledgeable staff member ran codes and it was decided that we could proceed, but that we should take the vehicle to an Audi dealership upon reaching our final destination in California. Gave this shop a try as it's one of the only European repair shops in Grand Junction. When discussing the work with the owner I was very clear about what my car needed, the potential difficulty of working on an older Audi and the timeline in which I needed the car back. He reassured me that he personally had experience with older Audi's and that he didn't see foresee any issues. Dropped the car off in July and then proceeded to wait through 3 months of frustration. Shop was terrible about keeping me informed of their lack of progress or about issues they encountered with the job. I routinely had to call the shop to check in or wrote emails to inquire about status. Shop then informs me that one of his younger techs had been put in charge of the job instead of him completing the work as originally implied when discussing the project. Young tech proceeds to struggle mightily with the work and racks up hours of labor without getting anywhere. Finally get a call from the owner to say he needs money for the techs labor to date and that they did not know how to complete the job. After weeks of frustrating back and forth, poor communication and terrible customer service I told them to stop all work and arranged shipping for the car to be sent to another shop in Denver. I paid the $600 labor charge for the "work" that was done and asked them to ship the power steering parts that they removed to the new shop that would be finishing the project. New shop starts to go through the parts and find a major part missing that was paid to be removed by Alpine. Part was a very hard to find Audi OEM power steering pump. I would avoid this shop for any big repairs and would not trust them with anything more complicated than an oil change. read more

We took our BMW in early December. Then we left on a 10 day trip. While on our trip the mechanic called and gave us the estimate. We then asked if they would also fix our small oil leak...he called back and said it would be an additional $500. We said ok. When we picked up the car a week later, we noticed oil drips on our garage floor right away. I figured it was just residual oil from before the leak was fixed. But it kept happening. So today, about 3 months later, we took it in and told them about the oil still leaking. We also showed them where they had indeed charged us the extra $500, but oil still leaked. They said they woyld check into it if we left the car. We did. We just picked it up at the end of the day, and they fixed the leak, several hours of labor, but with no charge! I love businesses that stand by their word, and make thjngs right when something is wrong. We highly recommend Alpine Autohaus if you have a foreign German car! read more

Finding a mechanic who you can truly trust is hard to find. At what point does one make the distinction between someone they don't trust and won't return to and the opposite? After a few bad experiences trying to someone to work on my beloved European cars I went to the Alpine Autohaus and met Sean. After my first experience from beginning to end I knew Sean was the guy for me. He is honest and thoughtful. He won't lie about what you need and he won't push you to do something you don't need or don't need...yet. He is a real person who understands the difficulties of maintaining a car and the choices we all are faced with when something needs fixed. He takes that piece into consideration. He is good on his word and he knows what he is doing and does a good job. I like the fact that Sean knows who I am and what I drive as soon as I say my name. He knows my car. He knows me. I like the smaller, more intimate, and family feel of Alpine Autohaus. I've never felt anywhere near as comfortable and trusting as I do with Sean. I'd like to give props to the other guys in the shoppe as well because they are just as wonderful as Sean. I'll never go anywhere else and I never hesitate to refer a friend. read more

Great service from the shop. Traveling through the area and my volvo suddenly lost power. They were great on the phone and just as nice in person. What I feared was a major part was diagnosed and repaired in a few hours to just reattaching the boost pipe that had come off. Great job from this shop. read more
