It's time I've gotten around to reviewing this Thai restaurant. I work across the street so it is extremely convenient for a quick lunch! I gave three stars because with Thai food, you expect some heat! They ask a heat range 1-5, so I chose 2.5 expecting some heat but not unbearable 5 level heat. I got the spicy fried rice. It was almost too sweet to eat! Luckily I always keep Sriracha on hand! The staff is awesome, especially Brian! I just thought the heat level and portion size were lacking! Quick and easy checkout though! All in all, I think it's a great hole in the wall Thai place, but order your dish spicy, and come with friends! That way you will all get enough food! If you like Thai food, this is a must stop. If you don't know if you like Thai food, this is a must stop. I've had the duck in the past which was good and today the sweet and sour crispy chicken. There's a lot of chicken that comes with the dish, I didn't finish it all and that's rare. I'm not too big on spicy food so I went with a #1 level and it was perfect. YUMMY ! Truly a hidden gem in the Keller- Watauga area. I believed they just opened not too long ago, but the location is somewhat hidden. That's why I urge you to try out this place ! Being Laotian, I've been trying to find a great authentic Thai restaurant around me as I live in Keller. I used to live in Haltom, and there were some authentic yummy places over there. Anyways, the food is delicious. I've had the Pad Thai, Drunken noodles, Glass noodles, and Mango sticky rice dessert. They give you a big portion with plenty of flavor and sauce and the service is awesome ! Also, they don't play around with spice levels so proceed with caution. I ordered veggie spring roll, got a pork spring roll in there. It was for a vegetarian. The chicken in the panang curry was old tasting. I will never order from here anymore. read more

Great service. Great food. First time here - Started with the crispy Spring Rolls (veggie). Nice crunch, veggies inside lightly seasoned and still slightly crunchy. The Thai Sweet Chili sauce is made in house and had a slight mustard taste that set it apart from what everyone else serves and was just the right flavor for the spring rolls. Ordered the Mixed Vegetable "Pad Pak" with chicken. Was advised it came in an oyster sauce but it was not the typical Chinese oyster sauce, whatever they did different was all good. Everything was flavored very well. Hubby got the Beef Salad "Nua Nam Tok". Every restaurant seems to make it slightly different and Simply Thai was no different, but this was one of the few that he thought was one he would get again even though it's not the same flavors as we used to get in Dallas. For dessert, we got the sticky rice with mango. The rice did not look toasted but there was a nice slightly nutty taste to the rice. Overall - we have found our new Go To for Thai!! I like this place so far. The "summer rolls" are really good here. They're fresh and soft. The red curry is good, though it's a little sweet. Their house salad is great with the tofu pieces. The pad seew is really delicious and at the right consistency. Some places make it too soggy or moist. The kid's chicken noodle soup is good too. My daughter approves. Give it a try foodies! Decent food, if only I could say the same about the service. We went around dinner time. There were only 3 tables in the restaurant, and only one main waitress and another guy bringing out the food. Both ordering and waiting for the food to come out took a while. We waited about 40 minutes until our food started to come out of the kitchen. My table ordered fish cakes as an appetizer, but it was forgotten about and came after our main entrees came out. I bit into the fish cakes and it was actually still cold, even after frying. The owners were really nice about it, and decided to give us a free entree for the trouble. As for the other dishes, the chicken larb tasted fantastic. It was actually one of the better larbs I have had at restaurants. Both the pad Thai and pad se ew were on the sweet side, but enjoyable. The basil fried rice wasn't too salty and was okay. Their portions were large enough to fill me up. Overall, I would skip actually eating here, and just order to-go. read more

There was a large conference at NorthWood Church that we were attending and realized we needed a dinner location for our group of 14 with several dietary restrictions. I called the day of for a reservation and they called in additional staff to accommodate our party. I then called back and upped our number to 23 when another party joined ours. When we got there they had already set out water on the tables for us and welcomed us in. We took about 80% of the restaurant and even requested individual checks and everything we asked for was provided in the kindest manner. And the food- every person loved what they had. All made from scratch accommodating the multiple dietary restrictions in our group. An hour and a half after arriving everyone was fed, had paid, and was on their way back to the conference. The first time we visited the restaurant the food was good. We started to order more from this place but the food quality was not. What was different for example Fried rice is not fried rice with clumps of white rice not broken up with spots of concentrated seasoning in various spots. How can you burn fried rice that is not fried. The meat chicken or beef was tough and better suited for something else except eating. The takeout portions are not on par in our experience to the dine-in portions. The quality of my money is 100% every time. I challenge this restaurant to match the quality of my money. They should consider some extensive quality control revamping here. The cooks might be inexperienced or not cooks at all and definitely not chefs. Meanwhile we will spend our money elsewhere. Maybe their name should be "Simply Tried" definitely not Simply Thai. We hope things will turnaround here the people are nice but that does not satisfy the appetite. read more

Feels dirty but I did reach down to touch them and they weren't; I guess just the way they've been painted which is bad for a restaurant because the servers shoes were sticky too(you can hear them).Just gives a bad impression. I did not like the cloth seats either because it seems more unsanitary. Also know that it is BYOB so that's nice. I recommend takeout. read more

Holy smokes! Phenomenal Thai food. The waiter was almost too accommodating and friendly. Ordered the hottest version of Phad Thai in the joint. When I confided in the fellow that I could take it a bit more spicy (I enjoy spicy food more than most other Americans I know) he brought out a little dish of house made chili oil. It was phenomenal. Second time trying this place out and still amazed with the decorations, simple but unique. For the first time, I got chicken satay for appetizer and thought they were a bit pricey, 4 for $6.25. My friend and I shared a Tom Kha Gai (chicken coconut soup), it was pretty good, very flavorful. We also got Pad Thai and fried rice. The Pad Thai was decent but the fried rice was super bland. I went with my boyfriend for the second time. I got Larb pork and he got Thai Spicy Basil with grounded beef. Both dishes were super flavorful. There were green beans in the spicy basil which I thought it was a cool add in since other places only carry it with basil, bell peppers and onions so it was a plus having green beans here. About the Larb that I ordered, I was confused at first since it says there is thin glass noodles in the dish on the menu, I had to double check with the server if they serve Larb with the usual white rice or noodles, and she was surprised and didn't even know that the menu was worded wrong. I recommend to read thoroughly and ask since there might be mistakes on the menu. Simply Thai has a very low spice level, my boyfriend got a 5, which was the hottest, and he said it was not as hot as other places. I got a 3 in my Larb and the heat only kicked in when the food was hot but it didn't feel like a 3 when it cooled down. Overall, I would come back because they have tasty dishes. I hate to rate this place so mediocre...but I have to be honest here. I was super excited to try out this new Thai place in Keller, especially after reading all the great reviews. The service was pretty good, but I was expecting a lot more from the food. My husband and I love Thai food, especially good authentic Thai food. We will drive 45mins+ if we know we are going be eating a good meal. We've been to more Thai places than I can think of in the DFW area. I would say the food here is not authentic, but catering more to the people in the area. We started with the Tom Yum Goong...I knew it wasn't going to be good when I saw bell peppers in it. I've never had tom yum goong with bell peppers in it. It was spicy enough, but it was lacking the sourness I crave in some good tom yum goong. I had to ask for limes to make the soup somewhat palatable. For our entrees my husband got the red curry with pork, I ordered larb gai, and we got the kids chicken pad thai. The red curry according to my husband was "watery" but it tasted fine. He's probably just used to me using a lot of coconut milk when I make it at home, which makes it "thicker". As for my larb...what a disappointment. I'm used to ground chicken, and I get it...sometimes you just gotta mince your own meant if you don't have ground chicken. I got huge chunks of sliced chicken...and more red onions than I cared for. Again, it was missing the sourness, and don't let me forget to mention how dry it was. It was more spicy/sweet than spicy/sour. There was one winner for the night, the chicken pad thai. Kids loved it and I enjoyed it as well. I've had the massamam curry, yellow curry, drunken noodles, the mango sticky rice, and the coconut soup and have not been disappointed yet. Those of us who live in Watauga/Keller should be appreciative of the fact that there's at least one place around here that isn't horribly bland and underwhelming. ((I don't understand some of the reviews complaining about lack of spiciness-- I like to have maximum spiciness too, but you have to bear in mind that most people are babies when it comes to spice, and some would throw a conniption fit if the level 2 were actually spicy. I've seen it happen.)) I can't comment on how ~authentic~ it is or isn't seeing as I am a white person from the suburbs. Service has always been perfect as well; the waiter is really really nice.
