Absolutely disgusting. The worse Thai experience ever! Ordered Crab Rangoon, fried dumplings, pad Thai and orange chicken with fried rice. The dumplings and crab Rangoon was the only thing edible. The sauce served with it was runny with barely any flavor. I'm a huge lover of Pad Thai. This was served swimming in "BBQ sauce". It was bad. Super bad and of course I sent it back. The orange chicken was super lacking in flavor as well. The texture was off for orange chicken. Everything was served at once and within minutes of ordering which tells me no TLC was in the kitchen. Thai and Lao cuisine with fresh, flavorful and spicy dishes just right outside my neighborhood. I couldn't believe I haven't step foot in this place until now. Ordered their Papaya Salad and Lambo Seafood which is a stir fried seafood w/ bell pepper and basil, white onion, young pepper and coconut milk. It was on the most delicious thing I've had. Be careful when ordering dishes that are served spicy. Their number 2 level of spice made me sweat in a good way. Service was your typical Asian mom and pop interaction. Good ol Yelp led me to Thai Barn. It's in a little strip center off of Western Center. Tucked into a corner. Small place. First visit, I had pork and Chinese broccoli. The pork had a good crispyness and good flavor. I love Chinese broccoli. It's superior to regular broccoli. The lad na was good with the lovely gravy. The money bags were tasty with fried chicken skin with ground chicken inside. My 2nd visit I had the lao steak. Tender meat and delicious. Khao piek Sen was good as well. Service was good. We always enjoy dining at Thai Barn--it's truly our favorite go-to spot for Lao food. Everything there is just perfect. When we used to live around the corner, we ordered takeout twice a week because we couldn't get enough! Now that we're in Dallas, we haven't found anything quite like it on this side of town. My husband's favorite dishes are Khao Piek Sen and Pad Kee Mao, both packed with the perfect balance of flavor and spice. We usually go for spice level 3 or 4, which always hits just right. Beyond the incredible food, the people at Thai Barn make the experience even better. Everyone is super friendly, and the restaurant has felt like home from day one. They know our names and have treated us like family from the very beginning--and that hasn't changed. I was craving some Thai curry and rice over the other day. The place I usually go to was closed (they updated their business hours recently) but I found Thai Barn on yelp and decided to give it a try (it's less than 5 minutes away from me as well, which was a bonus). I believe I spoke with one of the owners who took my order. He was very friendly and went through some of the menu items I had questions about. I ordered the yellow curry with chicken, chicken satay, and the pork and vegetable spring rolls. The spring rolls were nice and crispy, not oily at all. The dipping sauce was the perfect amount of sweet and spicy. The chicken satay had a nice grilled flavor and char marks, which I don't usually see. The satay was very flavorful, and the peanut sauce was good, but I missed having the vinegar/cucumber sauce that most satays come with. I'm not sure if they just forgot to include it or they don't serve it, but I think it would have enhanced the satay flavor a bit more. The yellow curry's broth was a bit spicier than I had expected (usually the broths are too sweet for me), but once I got over the initial kick of heat, I absolutely loved the flavor. There was also a good amount of potatoes and carrots as well as chicken. I was pleasantly surprised that the amount of onions in the curry wasn't overwhelming as well - it added a nice background flavor. The curry came with a side of white rice as well. Overall, I will definitely order from Thai Barn again. The prices are very reasonable for the quality and quantity of food provided. The restaurant was very clean, which is always a good sign. Thai Barn is consistently great every single time! I typically get pad Thai with chicken or beef, medium spice level, with the vinegar/chili sauce on the side. It's honestly made so perfectly every time. It's not too sweet and lacking flavor like some places; the flavor is the perfect amount of spice, sour and sweet, also not too dry and not too wet. I've tried so many times to make pad Thai at home using tamarind paste (not the packaged premade sauces) and it just never tastes the same. So I keep coming back here. The protein is never overcooked and too dry like some other places, too. The owners are always so kind and welcoming, and I love supporting their small business. Aside from getting pad Thai, I've also had their pad see ew, duck larb, Lao sausage, fried rice, crispy pork, all of the curries, and I can't remember what else. I can't say a single bad thing about any of the dishes because I loved all of them. (Also, I'm only speaking on the Thai/lao dishes. I have never gotten the pho, crab rangoons or anything that isn't Thai/Lao) When it's just me, I usually just place a pickup order, however, I've brought my whole family in before (party of 7) and the male owner in the glasses is always so kind and attentive. He refilled our waters, made sure we had everything we needed in a timely manner, and never had us waiting. The food even came out super fast for a weekday evening at regular dinner time. The ambiance is pretty typical for a Southeast Asian restaurant, as well. I have never gone into the bathroom there, so I can't speak on that. I would say it's one of the best Thai/lao places in Fort Worth when it comes to quality. If I weren't moving out of state, I would continue to be a regular here. We got served laos style. Good portion, a bit salty but great with sticky rice. I love the raw green beans. Chicken wings 2/5 barely any seasoning, very bland chicken wings that comes with dipping sauce on the side. But the thai chicken wing flavor is lost. Pad kee mao - 3/5 this was pretty good as well, but portion wise its kinda small. The color of this dish should be way darker, I'm not sure if this is the authentic way it should be, but it is not as colorful. Lard na - 3/5 this was good too but also not as flavorful, alot of saucy but barely any noodles, they give alot of meat tho. Found this hole in the wall on Yelp- excellent customer service! We came on a Thursday night and we were the only people in there- hope this place gets business. There was one other couple that came while we were eating. My husband got the crab fried rice which he enjoyed but wasn't as good as our's back home because it was imitation crab and he was used to fresh. He enjoyed the fact that it came with soup! The kids even enjoyed the broth soup! I got the green curry which I love because of the eggplant- sadly they forgot the eggplant in it and brought out 4 little pieces towards the end of my meal. I ordered 3/5 spice and it was definitely spicy! Never know with Thai places what kind of level they have but I would say this place is hotter than most. Ordered $46 worth of food as a first time customer in mid afternoon. Unfortunately, half of my 5 items were not included in our delivery, or not made correctly. The food was pretty good, but the blatant disregard for not packing up a to-go order correctly is why I'm not eating here again. How do you miss half the order? Got the crispy pork belly w/ Chinese broccoli and papaya salad. The pork belly order barely fill the container and was very spicy. On the menu, it did not state that it was spicy. My son wasn't able to eat it. Usually, there is a spice level next to the item. It didn't have any so I assume there will be no spiciness to it. The portion of the rice was also small. The papaya salad was ok. Too salty for my taste. The pork skin that came with it was stale. This is just my opinion. Everyone should still give it a try. First time to try the place with my family. I think the place needs a little more decore. Staff is very inviting and friendly. We tried a few items on the menu. For starters we had the money bag, fried shrimp roll, pork belly, fried chicken wings with sticky rice. Also ordered the Tum tard. Red shrimp and chicken curry, crab fried rice, nam Khao. For dessert we ordered one of each item. My favorite dessert is the fried taro with ice cream. That was DELCIOUS. Nam Khao was ok, mainly just sour. The crab fried rice was delicious. Very well seasoned with a hint of sweetness to it. The pork belly could use a little salt. Tum tard was a little on the salty side. Portion size for the amount of food was kind of high, but is that a surprise with the cost of everything going up? There was really not anything that we had that stood out.
