UPDATE: BE…read moreCAREFUL!!! If you put a friend on your emergency contact, and then REFER them through their referral program (up to $100), you WILL NOT get the $100 referral bonus because they are on your 'emergency contact.' I was completely ripped off by their referral program because the person I referred was on my emergency contact list, and they are spending over $600 per month on a storage unit LONG TERM. Also, I was called by the district manager, and this sums up the phone conversation. *Ring Ring* Hello? -Yes, this is the manager for sentinel storage. Why you so unhappy? Why the google review? *Your employees didn't reveal to me that my storage rate would go up every 6 months, I'm not happy considering I plan on being there long term. Also, you ripped me off with the referral program. -Oh your not happy? How about we hold your rate until January of 2026. After that though, your rate goes up every 6 months. *Oh okay, well I'll take the lock in rate, thanks, but there's no guarantee I will stay after that* -Okay great, can you please update your google review? *Sure, but keep in mind that it's against google's TOS to ask your customers to change their review.* Company doesn't disclose the fact that they will increase your rent only 6 months after you've been there by almost 20%. This information was not portrayed to me at all upon signing my rental agreement. Sneaky business practices. Just make sure you understand that you rent WILL go up by a lot after 6-9 months. My partner and I have had nothing but troubles with this company upon joining. It took them 6 weeks to fix a lightbulb in my partners storage unit. They kept making excuses. Now the company is trying to enter my partner's unit without permission to 'fix' something and demanding he give them a key. I'm sorry, but what? Something just aint right. Pretty sure this is illegal. Hey, I may be wrong. Sorry Sentinel.

I started out with a good experience but when I had to cancel well within the time allowed, I had…read moremy credit card compromised in the meantime. Then I have had no end of troubles trying to get my refund. They sent me an e Mastercard that wasn't accepted at either Shell or Safeway and they can't refund in any other way, like a cheque or e-transfer. I officially let them know that I have given up trying to sort this out with them as it has gone on for over a month and they keep giving up on trying to sort this out. I also said that I will never use this company again no matter how much cheaper they are than their competition!

This is a long overdue review as I mentioned I'd be leaving a review based on my positive…read moreexperience with Sentinel Storage approximately a year or two ago. (July 2023?) I tried Sentinel Storage - Richmond a while back with their $1 trial as I planned on being away to Vancouver Island for a month and thought to put my things in storage. I didn't end up using the storage however although I did experience the registration and cancellation along with the tour of the storage facility. I remembered my sign up was effortless and quick. I made use of an ongoing promotion they had at the time which offered your first month for $1. (It seemed too good to be true.) It truly was $1. The staff were friendly and professional and the manager was very welcoming. They walk you through the sign up and tell you what you're signing up for, and their policies like you can't store food in your unit (understandably); you do require insurance for your items (whether by their provider or your own) however if I remembered correctly, the first month was free if the value of items was bellow a certain threshold (hence $1 was truly $1 true to the promo deals than any hidden fees). I wasn't planning on storing anything of value so I didn't need insurance for the month; I didn't end up using the storage however I did note the facility seemed clean and secure from my first and only visit. You are given a pin code for entry and you also have to bring your own pad lock for your storage unit. The unit was well sized and they have a variety of sizing to suit your needs however I just needed a small space intending to put some things from a condo while out for a couple months. In the end, I didn't use the storage and left it empty. I was out of town when renewal came about and so I emailed them requesting for a cancellation. True to their word, there was no gimmicks, ifs ands or buts - they cancelled the storage rental upon request without further billing. It was a very positive, effortless, and easy experience dealing with Sentinel Storage. Now storage services like gym subscriptions and cellphone providers can sometimes get a bad rap for hidden fees and relentless billing even after cancellation (At least so I've heard the stories - I've never had an issue with storage services in Canada for the two I've tried, and I'm not really a gym kind of person lol. Cellphones rip of customers with outrages rates compared to other countries but that's changing thankfully with more competition and regulation). It's nice to see professional services like Sentinel Storage (and another storage service in Vancouver I've formerly tried) were all honest, friendly, and professional. They provided the service that customer required and honoured their promotions and cancellation upon request as well. No false advertising and no tricks to keep customers billed for something they don't use. My experience personally at Sentinel Storage was a five star and I will certainly consider them if I require storage in the future. Thanks.

Please find a different company! I'm seriously writing this to look out for you…read more Here's the short form, the company's constantly breaching the employment standards act for BC, not only that but they are definitely anything but professional. This is just the tip of the iceberg. There's some major issues within the company they hire without any proper interview nor do they make you sign any forms. They do not pay their workers well and offer no overtime. They also threaten workers with pay deductions. They also fish for reviews constantly. Not only that they will quiet fire employees. Also note they do not provide workers with any formal training or proper handling techniques. Drivers are hired without their drivers abstract being reviewed or even proof of a class 5 license. The company promises unrealistic quotes on work, and will purposefully withhold items until payment is received. If something is broken their first thought is to attempt to hide it as best they can to avoid giving you a discount or resolving the matter properly. Also note if you do find damage to your property the manager will actively make it difficult for you and try to evade your questions and a proper discount. Allegedly within their contracts they say that you must write a good review (despite if they did a terrible job) of the company or they will attempt to charge you. The workers themselves are none the wiser so it's not worth taking your frustrations out of them most of the time they'll get reprimanded if the customer is difficult. Again PLEASE do find a different company and if you must use this one I urge you to be very skeptical and read everything of the contract.

I contacted cody for a moving quote earlier this month, and I noticed how he sounded like he was on…read moremedication that made his thinking really unclear and slow as he sounded very out of it, and as well he kept speaking over top of me and asking me to repeat myself. after he took all of my content and location information he said " i am not in the office now I will have to send you a quote tomorrow morning. " by 11am the next morning I received no quote, so I called cody again and he sounded like he was sleeping or like he was doped up and drugs. he said he will email me the quote by 2 pm that day. 2 pm went by and I did not receive a quote from him so I texted him at 4 pm. Nothing So I went to a concert that night, and came home at 11:30 am and there was no quote from cody. So I texted him with an appropriate piece of my mind, and explained to him how he made himself look blatantly unreliable and that I would never hire him or his father's company nor would I recommend papas moving to a friend or to anyone. cody was ridiculously unprofessional. I highly do NOT recommend relying on or hiring pappas moving.
