My son did a test flight with an instructor who was pretty inexperienced (had only had a license…read morefor 3 years and teaching for about 4 months) and it went ok and my son liked it so he decided to sign up for 90 hours of flight training. the website listed flight training sessions specifically (not airplane rentals) at $175 per hour and we were quoted $175 per hour by the instructor in person. Then the trainer cancelled the first session (he said he had to cancel another person anyway so figured he'd cancel this one as well so as not to go in for just one) and also when we tried to verify price he said it was $175 + $75 (air plane rental plus training) which they said were industry standard. It might be industry standard but when i explained that i was willing to pay that (since my son was already excited about the lessons) but it was a bit misleading for the website to specifically say training is $175 and for the instructor in person (when signing up) to say it is $175 and have none of the contracts being signed actually mention price and then be told right before the scheduled flight it is actually $250, they said that if I was so "upset about it" I should not pursue training. I told them that I was just trying to provide feedback about the customer experience since people will want to know the actual price, and they hung up on me. the company didn't seem particularly professional from the getgo and this experience just confirmed my beliefs. Avoid them. you don't want to risk your life in a small private aircraft with a company that can't get their act together.

I was gifted an intro to flight class through Virgin Experience Gifts, and Classic Air is the…read morevendor they connected me with. I had an absolute blast. A huge shout out to my CFI, Cal, who was awesome. He was very friendly and patient. Despite it being a basic intro course, his chill vibe made it an enjoyable experience. I'd highly recommend this place to anyone interested in aviation. The Apache Junction reservoir and the Superstition range at 5k feet sure is a pretty sight. Thanks, Cal and thank you Classic Air Aviation!

So, at KFFZ many years, nice Redbird and a descent fleet. But, now nearly a whole year, nada. And…read morethey don't reply to emails I have sent about 7 in the past 10 months. Apparently they are 'going to be' at KCHD...but after the 'summer' was 9/21/2024...Now a month later, their site has that message...their sim and planes I am guessing are at KCHD now..but I am guessing. I have wanted to do a training recurrency event with them...they'd be a good fit for my recency. otherthan Classic..in the entire valley NOW...zero. The valley isn't the 10+ years ago place and is 100% ANTI general aviation...it's a 'monetize' every human...place..A person wanting a 'fair' and quality IPC and FR...in a sim and then a finish up in a twin..with 3 landings...to get 'fresh' is out of luck unless that person although extremely proficient and competent...will not maybe will be charged 7x the real net cost..via "we only always do it that way" which means a IPC and FR and 3 landings will cost ya 400% because "that is how I do it"..IN Denver or Seattle or Van Nuys or Houston or Dallas, REAL metros that LOVE and protect G.A. pilots..you can have a choice of FTD's for a full IPC or a array of schools with a quality AATD and a nice twin...in a week I'd have 4 of those...not true in the Phoenix metro...it was long long ago. Even ERAU at KPRC and ASU at KIWA and UND at KIWA ..."gee man we USED to let folks fly our FTD x2 and have their IPC we won't now..only our $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ program customers TOUCH our sims." so now if you live in this area...lots of luck get re-ready for resumes out...Not happening with quality and time frame...and Twins in this area are marginally maintained or charged rates that are SAME as Van Nuys or Denver..so much for Valley of the Sun low costs of living. where a CHD studio apt. unf. is $1700 + electric per month.

Note that their Redbird is a BATD so read your Instrument rating ACS table to SEE the limited items a BATD is FAA approved to DO and COUNT for...rating and otherwise...like NO IPC's...a BATD does none of that. Next, my first visit we talked about their Aztec twin which does not often fly...and that the only MEI allowed to instruct in it is the boss/the owner...He is a high time airline pilot. My visit days ago "we sold the Aztec we have NO plan to buy or lease or in any way add/bring on ANY twin again". So no multi ratings and no multi recurrency like 3 multi engine landings to be 90 day multi current. Right now in the valley, this is common. AT KCHD same story, Chandler Air Service has a Aztec but it's been in a major annual for updates too for over a year and their (a week ago) Chief flight instructor says it'll be in it's 1+ year of annual a lot longer...Few schools have a twin and none have a REAL twin- over 200hp and conventional spin props...So if you hope to fly a Gulfstream or a Challenger jet FAR91 or FAR135 forget that. No good operator of FAR91 or FAR135 high end jets wants a pilot who cannot handle a engine out when it's 250 or 350hp and the props are conventional ie: both spin the same direction....so that Vmc is a big deal...Like is the case with a Aztec or Baron or CE310...or a Chieftain...If you are skilled at engine out in such twins, you will be considered for a SIC job with a operator with Lears and Falcons and maybe a older Gulfstream...Other than you buddy being the owner or Chief pilot of the jet, no, you won't get the job with Duchess or Seminole or Twin Comanche hours...not going to happen. 2025 folks
