I tried one thing here, so this review is based on that! Pekara was a charming and unassuming bakery. It felt very Eastern European and when we arrived around 10am, a lot of things were sold out. This is definitely more of a takeout spot, but you are able to sit there if you'd like. The person behind the cashier was really kind and patient. We tried the blueberry puff. And for what it's worth, this was the group's top pastry of the day. I love that they toasted it up for us. The pastry itself was buttery perfection and the custard inside was really nice. One of us bought sourdough bread to-go that seemed really delicious. I'd come back to this bakery to try more.

The meat was not cooked how we asked for it to be, and one of the plates had to be sent back to be cooked more. After around 20 minutes, we were finally given forks to start eating. I ordered the Ahi Tuna Salad and despite my fish being a bit underdone, it was pretty good. I wish there was more dressing on the salad though because it was a bit bland and dry. It also seemed like our waiter was super stressed as he was genuinely running through the restaurant at times.

This location has parking (they have a spacious lot in the back, as well as some on-street parking) in an honestly really nice neighborhood that gives you that suburban, small-town vibe. Upon arriving right after they had just opened at 8:00 a.m., an aesthetically-inspiring and vibrant atmosphere awoke my eyes, with the bold orange and purple walls adorning wall art - in an intimate, yet spacious interior dining room, along with a courteous, friendly, and personable waiting staff! Miss Shirley's Cafe is a warm and inviting restaurant, with a host stand just inside the main door & the main dining room right behind it. Immediately to the left of the host stand is an open doorway to a waiting area and the East Room, a small dining space that seats about 25. Upstairs is a terrace that seats 40-50, used as a semi-private dining space and overflow dining space as needed. To the right of the main dining room is the Rock Room, a private function space that seats about 80. Since it was Baltimore County Restaurant Week (it ran from July 18th to August 2nd), they offered a 2-course prix-fixe menu for $25 - which comes with an appetizer and an entreé of your choice, not a bad deal per say!
