New to the area and I love it! I've heard of the Roggenart…read morechain but this was my first experience. Upon entering, there was a little line at the counter but that gave us time to look over the menu and admire the pastries in the glass. We could see them making the fresh croissants so we definitely wanted to order breakfast sandwiches. I got a traditional bacon, egg, and cheddar and my boyfriend got the chicken, egg, and cheddar. The chicken, egg, and cheddar was bomb!! Both sandwiches were a good portion and ratio of meat and eggs. I loved that the bacon was crispy--nothing worse than a rubbery piece of bacon on your sandwich. They were advertising Belgium waffles so we had to try--it was ok. The real star was the sandwiches. Not shown in this review are our beverages. We ordered an iced tea with raspberry syrup and a tiramisu iced latte (didn't taste much of the tiramisu flavor). It was a cozy feel to the seating area. I liked that there were different options for seating, especially the seats in the window for perfect people watching. The tables were wiped promptly and the bathroom was very clean. I would definitely add Roggenart to my list to visit again.

New Roggenart location that took over a local beloved bakery…read more I've been here a couple times and it's not anything to write home about. Service feels like they're rushing me to get my order. Espresso is often bitter, today I had a latte so bad I couldn't finish it. The pastries are only okay, and when I asked for mine heated, it was still cold in the middle. I've only ever been in here when it's not super busy, so I haven't had to wait too long for my order. The inside is decorated cute though, it's very modern and seems like a good spot to work remotely. Not my first choice when going to bakeries/cafes in Catonsville.

I had the pleasure of ordering from Cedars Cakes, which is a cute little bake shop in the Baltimore…read moreCounty area, and they have been open for a year now. I ordered a birthday cake for my mom's birthday celebration, and it started from seeing a post on Instagram. I spoke with the owner on the phone to discuss my vision for the cake, and after seeing the outcome, I have to say it was executed well! The cake had four layers, and we had the option to choose two flavors - so we went with vanilla and lemon. Both tasted so good! I'm usually not a fan of lemon anything, but I was really impressed with this one. Unfortunately, I didn't like the outer red icing. It wasn't edible and had a very bitter taste. I understand that darker icings require more food coloring, but this was to the point where it couldn't even be eaten. Because the actual cake itself was really good, it was easy to overlook the frosting. I usually don't eat too much icing anyway, but we chose this color because of the theme of my mom's party. I'm sure a lighter frosting that doesn't require much food coloring wouldn't have such a bitter taste. Cedars Cakes also sells cupcakes and other baked goods, such as cookies and macaroons in the store. If this bake shop was here ten years ago when I was attending college in the area, I know I would've frequented so often! The cake was absolutely delicious and my mom was very happy with it. Thank you, Cedars Cakes for such a beautiful cake!!
