Friendly, informative, helpful, and just plain happy are a few descriptors that come to mind. Honestly, the woman behind the counter at Sparrow & Nightingale's was all of those things. She greeted happily greeted us, asked if she could help, demonstrated a paint product we were interested in, thanked us for even the small purchase we made, and left us with a smile. Sooooo few and far between are these interactions in customer service industries that it's no wonder a lot of purchases are made online. Many different items to see or purchase as each vendor display their own unique style. It is an adventure in some ways put you in a Victorian state of mind. Staff is very informative and helpful without making you feel pressured and you can look at your own pace. They are, however, there to answers questions or concerns as well as give advice on perhaps a refurbishing project you may be doing. When I went to pick up the hutch at the shop, the shop was small, but full of incredibly crafted pieces that had been reworked with love, detail and talent. When I started looking around in the shop I found a desk that was perfect for my wife and bought that too. I also found a coffee table that I liked, but it had already been sold. The shop was small, but everything in it was worth looking at vs. shops with too much stuff and only a 10th worth looking at. Both Debi and Sarah were very accommodating with holding our purchases in their store for a couple days while I scrambled up a vehicle to pick up the great treasures that I was able to find in their store. I may not make it to Sumner very often, but the next time we need a piece for our house, I will make the trip to their shop first before going somewhere else.
