More concerning, I was asked to pay based on incomplete, placeholder estimates before critical items like CA Form 592-B credits and depreciation were finalized. On top of that, I was required to sign a liability waiver before they would even proceed--essentially shifting all risk to the client. He lied to us about filing for an extension and took forms from my mother that he never returned. Ultimately he stopped replying entirely and we had to look for a new accountant, several months after the filing deadline. I just got a notice that I owe several thousand dollars in late filing fees because it turns out he also lied about getting an extension.
