This was one of the most disappointing professional service experiences I've had…read more The filing process was delayed with little to no proactive communication. I constantly had to follow up for updates, and even then, progress remained unclear. Although the firm markets itself under Dimov, my return was handled by someone else entirely, with no clear ownership or accountability. More concerning, I was asked to pay based on incomplete, placeholder estimates before critical items like CA Form 592-B credits and depreciation were finalized. On top of that, I was required to sign a liability waiver before they would even proceed--essentially shifting all risk to the client. For a paid tax service, this level of disorganization, lack of transparency, and risk transfer is unacceptable. I would not recommend this firm.

I've been a proud TurboTax user since I made $20,000 a year serving tables in college…read more(coincidentally I also spent $20K at Forever 21 that year). I never had an issue with the service until this year when I got a letter from the IRS. Cue insane panic attack. I called several tax accountants in the area to find out every single tax accountant (even in the big name branches) are basically on vacation all fall and summer. If I wasn't having a mental breakdown...I definitely was by this time. I went to Yelp and found Sina and was so relieved when he answered on the second ring and made time for me to come in that afternoon. I was kind of scared that I had fallen into a Better Call Saul situation but my experience was very efficient and pleasant. He was able to help me with my situation (turns out the IRS actually owes me $8 suckaaaaaaa!!!) and after looking back at a few returns he immediately recognized an issue with my payroll that will get me back thousands of dollars. He organized all my forms, made it super easy for me to understand and made one of my big stressors a thing of the past. And even better he stocks his office with those cheez-whiz cracker packs so you can stress eat your troubles away. I'll definitely be making it a habit to visit Sina every tax season from now on! #Adulting

We went to Sina based upon a glowing recommendation from a friend. Let me preface this by saying…read morethat we have been through our share of tax accounting firms and the usual "do it yourself", Turbo Tax business over the years. Upon meeting Sina, my wife and I were totally impressed by his knowledge and understanding of tax laws and gave us some great advice. Although our taxes are not too complex, Sina took the time to answer all our questions as well as give us financial advice which we definitely have taken into consideration. My wife tends to ask a lot of deep questions and she is always a good judge of character and knowledge, so I am always surprised when she leaves a place completely satisfied! Overall, Sina is extremely personable, knowledgeable, and reliable when it comes to tax service. We definitely recommend him and his company to anyone who wants to be treated with respect as well as provides you with advice on your finances. Definitely blows away any experience we have had with a popular tax firm in our area as well as just plugging it into Turbo Tax and be done with it. Definitely take the time to see Sina, if you truly care about your taxes and finances!

Short-version: Jeff Lipsey is simply the best…read more Long-version: I typically do my personal income taxes myself and have never had to file business income taxes before. I'm also one of those horrible last-minute filers. So it was that I realized at 5pm on Friday, April 12th (before the April 15th tax deadline, mind you) that I needed to file a D-30 Unincorporated Business Franchise Tax Return for my the AirBnB I began in 2018. I frantically called various CPAs throughout the DMV to try to get some advice on my D-30 situation (at 5:30pm on a Friday). No luck. Then I found the Lipsey and Associates blog post on AirBnB and casual rental income, which was very helpful in itself. And then I sent a horribly long e-mail explaining my situation to Jeff Lipsey and asking for his advice. At 6pm on the Friday before Tax Day. Most people would have probably just laughed at my e-mail and then gone back to enjoying their weekend. But not Jeff. He responded to my e-mail within 12 hours, and then answered my follow-up questions in less than an hour!!! As a result, I was able to deduct more business expenses and ended up netting almost $2,000, as compared to the tax returns I prepared prior to receiving Jeff's advice. As you can see, Jeff is the best! Do yourself a favor and call or e-mail him.

I was first looking for someone to do taxes in 2018 for the 2017 tax year. As usual, I did reviews before trusting my taxes to anyone. I researched the "big" commercial names, like H&R Block and the do it yourself names but wanted to know they would be done right the first time. I stumbled upon Crystal Tax and couldn't be happier. Mr. Geever is knowledgeable, super prompt to reply to email and incredibly quick with the preparation (and it didn't hurt that I got a refund!). We haven't even met - everything has been online or through email, which is great as it is hard to get to an accountant when you work. And Rich was patient with my tax questions. I had no hesitation trusting him to do my taxes again this year. I was nervous that I had waited too long and he would be unable to get them done in time, but he turned them around in 2 days - that's impressive! I will no doubt continue to go back to him for my tax needs.
