I used to be a Simon's regular. I will say they, overall, do a good job at washing your car. But, they should for the price. My biggest complaint, and reason I no longer visit often, is that they are perpetually understaffed and slow. A quick wash (no wax or extras) should not take 45 to 60 minutes, like it usually does at Simon's. read more

I took my car in here as I was preparing it to sell. It was in absolutely horrendous shape - years of stickiness in the back seat from my daughter and residue from a leather jacket on the door. Plus there had been a leak in the trunk that had caused some mildew on the carpet. I brought my car in on a day that we had a snowstorm in Chicago - and they ended up staying open just to service me. I started coming to Simon's when I was a college student almost 10 years ago. I decided to come back for what I thought was a semi-detailing service. For the $54 I paid, I expected more than a mediocre car wash. For the quality of the wash and the service, I could have easily paid $20 and saved a trip into the city. I'm disappointed that the windows weren't cleaned properly, the inside dash and console were barely wiped down, and they did a poor job of vacuuming. I definitely won't be back. read more

eeeh.. Im really mixed about this place. Honestly.. I dont care about the couches, or wifi or coffee or dog in the corner, or any of the other stuff that attribute to the higher wash cost.. I just want a good wash from people who know how to PROPERLY wash a car. Simons does accomplish this most times. But as for weekly/bi-weekly washes in Chicago winter.. Was a great place for a car wash! Have been coming here since 2007 and have had exceptional service every time. A nice waiting area with coffee and free wifi. But a recent 25% price hike and wait times of an hour or more (past 2 times I have been here)...has me looking for other car washes in the area. Been coming to Simon's for year's now for all my cars. Overall, I've been very pleased with the washes and service. Everyone is super friendly, the place is very nice and cozy to wait while your car is washed, and the wash is generally very good. However, the last time I was there, I took both my car, and my wife's car to get washed, I realized just how expensive it is. My car is a Mini cooper. This cost me $21.99 before tip for a regular wash. The car is tiny. I can do it myself in about 10 min. My wife's Subaru Forester was $28.99 before tip! It caught me off guard and I actually asked the girl "did you raise prices?". She said yes, a few dollars. I kind of felt they were on the high side to begin with but again, the quality of the wash and the cleanliness, friendliness of the place had me still loyal and going. But this is just too much. $29 for a regular wash for a small SUV? Way too much money. Sadly, I'm going to have to look elsewhere for car washing. read more

About four years ago we had a Pi day pie party at my workplace. I took a blueberry pie in as my contribution. During my commute, some of the delicious pie filling landed on my passenger seat. Had to get a wash of my company's Dodge Promaster van before we applied our logo decals. Unfortunately, most car washes can't accommodate vehicles as tall as ours. Simon's however was able to take care of us with ease. The waiting area was by far the nicest I've ever seen in a car wash. I helped myself to complimentary coffee and slipped into an amazingly comfortable leather chair. The wash was completed in just a few minutes but to be honest I would have been content to sit in that amazing chair for hours. read more

Outstanding, compassionate service during two detailings in the past month. The first detain occurred after a situation caused by that I was extremely embarrassed about. All staff were professional and respectful as they helped me. The car was ready earlier than promised. The second detail was needed after one of my uber passengers vomited in the front seat of my car on Friday night. I was unable to do much with it mysel so I drove 30 miles home with the windows open, so I wouldn't be sick myself. At 7:40 am Saturday morning I pulled in with this mess with the intent of getting away from the smells and visual evidence quickly as possible. Once again staff was professional and helpful. They promised mid afternoon Sunday but had it done by 4:30. I had to return a rental car and could not get there before closing. They offered to leave my car key in a lock box with code of my choosing. Once again a great experience. read more

Every time I come here I am treated with respect. My car is spotless when they're done no matter how busy it is. They take the time to make sure every nook and cranny of my car is clean/vacuumed. They use an air hose to blow out the spots they can't reach. My 2013 VW Tiguan covered in Goldfish crumbs is treated as well as a luxury car or expensive sports car. There is a big tip jar at the register that the employees split at the end of the day so you don't have to run around finding the 1-2 people who worked on your car. I LOVE this place and it is the only hand wash I will ever go to again. Oh yeah, the prices are AMAZING! For $119 I expected my car to look professionally detailed inside and out. I dropped off my car and they called me about an hour later for pick up. (On the website they estimate 1-2 hours for the clean, which I expected considering the price of the wash, I thought extreme detailing would take that long.) when I picked it up, Instead there were some cleanser spray marks on the backseat, residual crumbs still in the seat cushions and the front mats still had salt stains on it. The rims still had dirt on one of the four. I went back to the cashier and asked these issues to be remedied and someone did come and vacuum out the back seat and washed one mat. The person I worked with was very nice, however he explained it's an extra fee to get the mats washed or the rims cleaned of dirt. I am not a car person but by purchasing the 'top of the line' I expected everything to be pretty immaculate. I will say the staff was nice and scheduling on the website was easy but for the price the quality was essentially the same as a wash at a delta sonic. I am disappointed and wished they had done a more thorough job for the price. read more

Fantastic place to take your car for a regular wash. I usually get the 'just fine shine' which is an inside / outside wash and shine for just under 20 bucks ( a bit more for SUV's) I typically buy a 10-pack, where you get one or two free washes, depending on the promotion they are running. The washes are done by hand, very consistent high quality and no scratches like a mechanical wash. Best part about Simons is that the have comfortable seating, refreshments available for purchase, and current reading material to pass the time. Also FREE WI FI ! The washes take anywhere between 15 and 25 minutes depending on how dirty the car is, and how many people are waiting. Most of the time it is closer to 15. read more

My car's beige carpet was basically black when I brought my car to Simon's. Years of spilled sodas, dirt and grime build-up left their mark. I figured they'd be able to clean some of the muck, but didn't expect a miracle since this was 11 years of build up. After two hours of detailing (the Shag Shine), my car was returned to me and other than a small patch of slight discoloration, my carpet was as good as new. They did an amazing job not just on the carpets but on cleaning the car top to bottom. I was and am seriously impressed. I've sold my car since my service 2 weeks ago, and now have a nice new ride with a leather interior. I'll be back to Simon's soon to get my new car's exterior cleaned and protected. read more

I got my car washed last weekend. I chose Simon's Shine Shop for the amazing reviews here. I must say that at first I was quite surprised at how good the customer waiting area is (i.e., couches, refreshments, newspaper and magazines, etc.) However, the car wash? Not so much. I paid about $40 for the Till the Nines service. This, as I was told, is the best wash they have and I agreed to go with this option. When the car came out, it looked quite clean and shiny at first. But, the stubborn mark on the body of the car and another mark inside on the carpet mat did not get cleaned up AT ALL. I pointed it to the guy and it appeared as if he tried but didn't clean it. There were also other oily/waxy marks left on the car after the car wash. Not sure how those showed up. Hmmm. So most of the car looks good but those 2 marks kill the whole experience. Didn't know that this service wouldn't actually cover cleaning tip top the whole car... I was quite disappointed and would have to think more than twice before returning and wasting another $40 on a shine that would may not really clean my car completely. read more

Went out on a Friday night. One of the guys had a too much and ended up puking in the car. Obviously disgusted, I turned to trusty Yelp to help me find a professional and well reviewed Car Cleaning Service that was near me. After some searching, I found Simon's Shine Shop met all of my criteria (highly reviewed, close to where I live, open early) As I had no appointment, I went in first thing in the morning (7:30AM) and was greeted by a courteous and friendly staff who immediately got to work on fixing the mess in my car. I got the highest package of interior clean ($150) and am shocked at the results. My car looks brand new! All of my personal effects (GPS/sun glasses/etc) were respectfully put into plastic bags. All of my carpets and mats were individually cleaned. I was very impressed. Overall, I give them 5 stars for their professional and courteous staff and their excellent work! read more

If I could deter just one person from going to this place then this review is a success. For the record, I have nothing against the product that Simon's offers. My qualm is with the management. I have been a long time customer (over 40 washes during the last 6 years). My recent experience, however, will deter me from ever going back. I am a physician, and I leave my pager in my car, nestled in my cup holder. I had just answered a page before entering the shop and dropping off my car. When my car was complete I noticed that my pager was moved from the cup holder to my center console. I checked my pager to see if I had any messages and the screen was completely cracked and non-functional. I went back immediately and notified management. They said they would review the video and call me back within 24 hours. 48 hours later, and no call back. I make the effort to contact them, and finally get a call back from the manager. He takes the stance that they are not responsible for any items left in the car. He did acknowledge that his employee did move the pager to the center console and something could have happened at that time. He then had the audacity to ask me, if a patient has valuables in the hospital and they go missing, then would I cover the cost. I told him that first, I am responsible for the patient, and it is a matter of life and death. I continued to say that this is extremely inappropriate to draw parallels between an issue of material possession and an issue of human life. He had no answer. He said he was "comfortable with his position" and hung up on me. I will likely have my pager replaced by the hospital for free. And regardless, in the grand scheme of things, even if I have to pay for a replacement I think I will survive. I took the time to write this review because I want you guys to know what type of management you are dealing with. This manager should not be in the position he is in at Simon's or at any other establishment. There are so many hand carwashes in Lincoln Park. Use groupon! You will save 50% and get a great car wash and excellent customer service. In conclusion, I would highly dissuade you from going to Simon's. read more

I went dealership to fix, they told me ;when the cleaning time they are operated this button to much that's why is lock. And I spoke with manager of car wash, who is Mellissa, she told me bring full detailed report if its our faults we will take care of it. And i fixed my car for $129 in BMW dealership. I just gave report to her. She told me, im going to speaks some of my advisor. She spoke after couple days she is not calling me. Called to get clarification on appointment policy and the girl said they occasionally take, drive-ins" if they're not too busy. I have and Australian Cattle Dog. If you're not familiar with them, they shed like crazy. She LOVES the car, but leaves so much hair on my seats. Since I started going to Simon's, they have been meticulous about getting the hair out each time. I have a black exterior, and when they are through with it, my car looks like I just bought it. I get it waxed regularly to keep my exterior from scratching. They do a great job with that and detailing, which I've treated myself to twice. I love the waiting room. I've always hated going to car washed because they've all felt dirty, like I was visiting a mechanic's shop. Simon's is elegant, clean, and comfortable. Why did I ever cheat on you Simons? My car is perfect as always, you guys rock!! I have meant to comment this place for sometime now, but , you know, whatever. I went to get the inch of nastiness that this winter has left on my little car washed off. They are always fast and reliable. The cleaning crew does a thorough job and my car is always squeaky clean and ready for me to dirty it up again. I like driving through puddles at a fast speed (to splash those on the sidewalk.) JK. Hee hee. Anyway, my only bone of contention is the girls that work in the office. They never pay attention and last time, tried to ring me up for a more expensive wash. As big of a fan of texting that I am, I don't do it at work and neither should they. OK. SOMETIMES I text at work, but I don't work with the public. Anyhoo, other than that, I will go back to this nifty car wash. I love Simon's, its the ONLY place I get my car detailed. They do impecable work, with a wide price/service range(quick outside wash to full detailing). Yes, their customer service is what keeps their clients coming back for more. The location certianly doesnt hurt, its super easy to walk to Barnes and Noble and read a magazine while your waiting for your car. But BEST of all, Simon's is an animal friendly buisness. They do an annual car wash to benefit PAWS(just southeast on Clybourn) and your dog is most welcome to come sit in the waiting room with you. Make sure when coming down Shakespeare, you go to the car wash at the far end of the street. I made this mistake once and it was very bad. You are looking for "Simon's" - and don't stop until you get there. This is not a cheap car wash. They DO get the car very clean, but they still don't get the windshields as clean as I can. The process can sometimes be slow, but it is easy to understand and I don't feel upsold. I don't mind because of the homey indoor waiting area with magazines, books, and newspapers. We get a lot of coupons from them and you can grab some from the website. Definitely the only place I trust with my mid-size economical sedan. read more

I had two different cars washed in one day at Simon's Shine Shop. One had the "To The Nines" wash and the other had the "Just Fine Shine" wash. I was not completely impressed with what is their highest level of wash. I had high expectations based on previous reviews. It was not perfect, but I at least expect the sticky residue from Chicago parking tickets on your window to be included. I can't be the only car in town that has these pesky tracks on it. There was also some confusion about a special request I had made and paid for that was not completed initially. Other than that I was happy enough. As for the lowest level of wash, I didn't expect quite as much and was pleasantly satisfied with the wash. My new baby, Bella Blu, came out clean as a whistle and shining brighter than the sun. The only thing I found weird was that the seats were pretty wet after and I felt like my whole back was soaked. I love that they use CLEAN towels and mitts for every car that comes in. I love that I can chow on free candy (all of my favorites) for the whole time I'm there, sip a cup of free tea, sit on a comfy chair and read the nice pile of magazines, work at a small table and chairs, or lounge comfortably outside. BONUS: This seems to be a great place to meet people (wink, wink) and I will be back to do just that! ;) SYNOPSIS: Not bad for $20 simple wash, but will save my $35 wash for only the rarest of occasions. This was my first time ever getting my car detailed and I am extremely pleased! I got the top of the line detailing package for $139.99 for my SUV. Seems slightly cheaper than other places in the area. They are extremely friendly when you pull up and tell them what service you need. The lady at the desk takes down your information and payment and then you can choose to wait or be called when the task is complete. The waiting area has wi-fi, ample reading material, and an assortment of free drinks and candy. The whole thing took just over 90 minutes and then I was driving home with an almost brand new looking car! I have never gotten my car detailed before but I'm pretty confident they did just as much if not more than other detailing places. I will be back! read more

This was my first time at Simon's Shine Shop, and overall they do a good job. It was relatively busy with many cars lined up before me, but they go at a good pace. The inside has 4 very comfortable leather seats, so they will get snatched up if you leave for a second. I am only giving four stars, because I checked the inside of my car afterwards and there were a couple of missed spots (large crumbs under the front seats). The roof of the car also had some black stain marks that came out, but were not there originally. I went here last week for the first time and couldn't have been happier with the service. My car was in bad shape since I park near the el. The track dust/goop was embedded in the paint and no matter what I tried on my own, I couldn't get it out. I read about Simons on Yelp and decided to give them a shot. It took about 3 hours for the detail to be done - which I expected. I hung out in Borders to pass the time. When I came back, the owner/manager told me my car would be done in about 10 min and mentioned he had the guys clean/vaccum the inside as well. I didn't order an inside cleaning when I dropped the car off since I have a dog who sheds and my car never stays clean on the inside anyway. I mentioned this and he said it was no problem/no extra charge, he just wanted to give it back to me looking good inside and out. When I went out to get my car, I was very happy. The original shine was back and there was no trace of the el dust/goop on it. It looked great. The inside being clean too was the icing on top of the cake. Well worth the money. I called about every auto shop in Chicago to fix my windshield, which was spider webbing to the point of being ridiculous. I really wanted a place with a price on the lower-average end in a non-sketchy neighborhood. I chose Simon's based on my criteria, plus I could walk home after dropping off my car. This was something I hadn't really thought about when calling all of the shops for quotes! Simon's workers were very professional and called me to confirm the day before. My car was fixed within one day, and they called me to let me know when it would be drivable and ready for pickup. I was able to check out quickly, and walked out to a car that I didn't recognize. Since I was a new customer, they did a full detailed in and out wash. WHOA. I hadn't realized the beater that I had been driving around! It looked absolutely wonderful, and now the bar has been raised for what my car can look like post-wash! I REALLY need to take it back for a detail this week...yikes. I highly recommend this shop for windshield repair and washing! Also, you get a free pen when you're checking out as well as coupons for more car cleaning about a month later! read more
