My review is overdue as I've been going to Simon's for over 15 years. Our household brought three cars here during that time, and the service that Simon's provides always exceeds expectations. From the professionalism and warm reception by the lead attendant including managers (Christina and Melissa), to the smooth handoff delivery of my car by one of the detailing experts, I can always rely on the entire team to return my car to me as if I'm leaving a new car showroom. I finally signed up for a membership a few years ago after returning to Chicago and bring my car in routinely. The waiting area is bright, calm, clean, and light refreshments are available. My car is always returned to me completely wiped down, interior shampooed and vacuumed, and air freshener applied. Never any streaks or blemishes left, and the final attendant who brings my car around always double checks for any wet spots. I recently took my car to the dealer for repair, and they even mentioned how new the car appears despite being seven years old with 60k miles. I highly recommend Simon's for a general wash, detailing, or other restorative auto services they provide. I live in Oak Park, and it's worth the drive. I routinely bring in my suv to Simon's. Regrettably, this place is fine for a quick wash which is done well. However, for high end cars requiring more attention, Simon's crew are inattentive often omitting proper cleaning internally and externally. Todays incident: I came in for a service called Inner Sanctum for extra internal cleaning and added seat polishing. $260. This should take 2 hrs. But received the car in a little over 1 hour with dirt and grime still on dashboard and leather seats. Some areas did not seem to be cleaned at all. I like coming here but I have not received the quality of service and always have to check the work before leaving often coming back to get it cleaned again. I don't have the confidence in Simon's. I scheduled my car through the online booking system for a mid tier "Paintwork Correction". The website said $775 to remove those dreaded swirl marks and most other defects. When I arrived to drop my car off I was told the services were $825. Not too much of a difference from online but they do need to update the prices on their website. After about 30 minutes of my car being washed and dried, I was called into a brightly lit area where my car was. Christian took a flashlight and showed me everything that could be corrected on my car, including all of the rock chips. (I brought touch up paint as recommended online). After 2 days, I picked up my car and it looked almost brand new. They were able to get rid of the swirls and most scratches. I had a lot of rock chips on the front bumper and hood and those were hidden with the touch up paint. The only things that could not be fixed were scratches that were too deep and reached down to the plastic in the bumper. Overall I am very happy with the Paintwork Correction. The price is pretty high, but you really get what you pay for compared to those $150 "details" anywhere else. I would give this place 5/5 stars if the price wasn't so high. It's important to note that the "paintwork correction" does not include an interior cleaning and/or detail. read more

Simon's Shine Shop is my preferred spot in the city to take my car for a nice hand washing and deep cleaning of the interior. I've gone a few times now and have always been happy with their work. The staff at the cashier desk is always very friendly, as well. Prices are competitive and the waiting room is nice. They always play good music and have these amazing comfy chairs I can kick back & wait in. I like getting there right away when they open at 7:30am so I can be sure to get one of the huge comfy chairs! Their website online details each package they offer and you can then book a time to come in directly through the site, as well. It makes everything seamless and quick when dealing with Simon's Shine Shop. I took my new car into Simon's to get a ceramic coating and window tints! They were efficient and quick the work so far looks great! Overall the cost was in-line the only piece that was not reviewed with me was initial clean that was needed before the ceramic coating! Most other quotes I got had that included so this was a surprise but, I luckily knew that could be the case most people will not. They had me sign off the estimate and this was not part of it so I could see how others get suspicious! So far the car looks great and the tints turned out well! My service advisor at Mercedes always comments that my 2015 S-Class still looks like a showroom new car inside and out, I owe it all the owner Jim and his team at Simon's. I first started going to Simon's for regular washers and details when they first opened back in 2004. Their soaps and waxes are superior to most of the hand carwashes in Chicago. Mmm was going to let this go but I can't. I have Mercedes and I to have my car basically go in the same way it came out. Really made me upset. I call to see exactly what I got because when I pulled in the kid didn't ask me anything other then did I have an appointment. I said no. He handed me a ticket and I paid. I still have a spot where a bird hit my car when I pulled it in. And the inside wasn't touched. What exactly did I pay $34 for if my car wasn't cleaned inside or out? The young lady I spoke to said she will give me a free upgrade when I go back to have the inside wiped down.... I wont be going back for that price and no quality.... but my wheels look like they have tire shine so the two stars go to that. read more

Been going here for a few years. While their prices have always been at the high end, their work was good-enough to justify. However last few visits have left much to be desired - soaps are super diluted, quality of employees has declined significantly, the bar for customer service is non-existent, and the billing errors are alarming. Plus they claim they are appointment-only but jam-in as many cars as they can. So if you want to waste a couple of hours, pay dearly for the privilege of a sub-par car wash, and feel like you've been done a favor by arrogant employees, this is your place. Well but didn't end there I left my Ford Explorer the detail wash and that gets much worse it cost $750 and again just the regular wash you can get anywhere in Chicago or suburbs. Simons did not leave my car shiny.. at all! I paid $60 For a wash inside and out To begin with 3 out of my four windows inside are clean the one where my sons car seat is at had his hand prints still on it. I lifted my car seat and under it was still dirty. Now the outside of my car .. Riims & whole car were still dirty ,as if they never washed my car. Not worth it at all. They are a little pricy but the details of the cleaning is very much brand new out the dealership feel. They have a process that works well with them and keeps customers extremely satisfied more than you can expect. My Dog hair are white and I have black seats and wow extremely cleaned and unnoticeable. This is the second time I have been here and when I need that deep cleaning to my car this is my to go. Long story short: They do not care about your car or you, they will pretend to 'look into the issue' and will only deny any wrong-doing when they damage your vehicle. If you care at all about your car, avoid this place. The quality of the wash is not worth the risk of damage. Full background: Took my brand new 2018 VW GTI (purchased two weeks ago, this was its first ever car wash) here for a simple wash on 3/10/18. Simon's seemed to come pretty well recommended (checked on Yelp, Google Reviews, Reddit, etc.). Everything started off well, friendly attendant and cashier. Nice seating area, and clean interior environment to perform their services on vehicles. Felt good about the place, there were plenty of new, more expensive vehicles in line with mine (who would take their beautiful Ferrari, BMW, or Land Rover to a place that would neglect a vehicle?) The place is a little pricey - $38 all in for this trip. I stuck with their "Premium Exterior Shine" being an exterior only wash. Nothing too fair out of reason of being fair if they did a great job - 'if' they did a great job. The initial flag was raised when I observed a porter pull the aforementioned Ferrari around, leaving it in neutral with no parking brake engaged, allowing the car to begin rolling forward down the slight incline of their exit while handing off the vehicle to the owner. Shrugged it off originally as it only rolled about 8 inches, but still. Finally, the bell rang and I saw my car pulling up. It looked GREAT at first! I was excited. Well dried, everything shiny. A couple of water drips but I was not too bothered. I got in my car and drove away content. Went to run some errands. Made my first stop, exited the vehicle and decided to give it the walk around. That is when I noticed it, the GIANT scratch across my rear passenger-side door handle. There is also a light scratch in the clear coat of the paint, right beneath my gas cap. I noticed this first but was not too fused (reason will be apparent below). It looks like either a small pebble/ stone was caught in either the washing mitt or drying cloth - so much for being clean towels/ mitts used in every wash; or the employee washing my car had a ring on that managed to scrap across the paint. I called and informed them of the situation, they stated the "manager is on break and will call you back as soon as she gets back, should be soon." OK, good start. Almost 4 HOURS later I get a call back from the manager claiming to have "reviewed the video footage" and saw nothing out of the ordinary happen. I was told I can come in and review, which I will be doing. The funny bit about all this is I was treating this visit was a trial run - simple car wash, what could go wrong? I want to get my car ceramic coated (and paint corrected) by professionals - their Hydrophobic coating service is synonymous with ceramic coatings. All they had to do was not screw up the wash. Well they damaged the car, okay, all they have to do is make this right - I was still willing to play ball. Nope, claiming no foul play, couldn't have been them. As a business, they are literally screwing themselves out of a minimum $1500 and a recurring detailing customer and all my friends that I have asked to stay clear of here. Upon arrival to Simon's, the place looked classy- nice gold leaf sign out front & not the gimmicky flashing lights or whistles. You pull into a large indoor area and are directed into which lane you should pull into. From there a guy meet you at your car door and shows you a menu of services. (He was nice but not very verbal- a description or elaboration on what the service levels actually included would have been really nice.) I only needed an outside wash, and was pretty shocked when he pointed to a $34.99 price tag. You feel kind of stuck because you're inside and blocked in by a ton of other cars. So I went ahead with it because my car really needed to be cleaned. However I kind of thought there must have been some kind of mistake like this also included vacuuming of the Interior maybe interior windows wipe down Etc? Not the case. The guy pointed to a waiting area, which was very nice as it had a couple of plush armed chairs and a few wooden chairs as well. When I walked in I showed my ticket to the cashier and ask her if that was correct that this 34.99 was for an exterior only basic car wash- she said yes. I paid and waited. It took shy of half an hour before my car was pulled up outside, and it was clean. Not terribly impressively clean as there was still water trickles coming from the molding and a few spots of water on the windows. Also I was a little irritated that someone must have been smoking outback near my car with the doors open because when I got in my car there was a strong Aroma of cigarette smoke- gross. I doubt I'll be back, but if I did decide to come back I would have some more specific instructions and it wouldn't be for a $35 basic exterior only car wash. read more

I've been coming to Simon's for years for a car wash and interior detail work. I love that they offer coffee and candy in the waiting area, its a super comfy place to lounge and hang out while your car is being cleaned up. I've always recommended them to all my friends, it's the only place I trust to go! Last week I took my car in for full clean up. Once all finished, my car was pulled up and ready to drive away. However when I got in, I noticed a decent size hole was ripped into my drivers side window tint. I had some old sticker residue on the outside of my window, and one of the workers had taken a razor blade to the inside of my window instead, ripping my tint straight off and left large scratch marks. I brought it to the attention of Christina at the front desk and Alejandro, who is always managing inside the shop when you pull up. I'm in the customer service industry also and let me tell you, anger gets you no where good, so just stay cool. They immediately apologized and offered to fix the damage, and even had a guy who does tinting come in and fix my car for me at no cost. A few days later I received a call from Melissa to set up a time for me to drop my car off. I brought it in Monday and 2 hours later I left with a brand new window. Thank you Christina, Alejandro and Melissa for going above and beyond to make it right. This is why I keep coming back year after year, showing what true customer service is all about. I always come here but today was different. I brought in my beater, an old rust bucket i hadn't cleaned in over a decade. It was truly filthy - and 30 minutes later, upon leaving I was astonished to see the inside. The car looks brand new! (At least on the inside) time has taken its toll on the outside. I went in for more than one consult and was assured that the chip in my hood would be 70% to basically unnoticeable. $825 later it looks like they literally just took the tip of a black magic marker and dabbed it. Also rubbed a piece of equipment up against my mat grill causing damage that was not there when the car was dropped off. They should have told me from the start and my money would be better spent getting my hood painted. This place is a joke. Do not pay for your detailing services until you pick up your car or else you will have to dispute the charges as they do not offer any sort of refund. Stay far away! read more

I've brought my car here a few times, but I won't be bringing it back in the future. Simply put, they are no better than any other hand car wash I've been to, just a lot more expensive. I made an appointment for their "Top of the Line" wash, which covers the interior and, from what I understand, the "Application of a High Gloss Coating that Shines and Protects" and "Wheel Wax Protection". The service took two hours and cost $135. When I came back two hours later, the car was done, and clean, for the most part, but I was disappointed in the lack of attention to detail, for a detail shop. There were still areas of scum on the body finish, a couple dead bug smears on the hood, and a fair amount of grime on the wheels. All of this wiped off when I got it home with a bit of water and a bar towel. The wheels don't appear waxed and I can't tell if any high gloss coating was applied, and if it was, would I have found so much dirt left on the finish? Was the car washed? Yes. Was the interior cleaned? Yes. But no better than the hand wash near my house that charges $35 for a similar service, and $45 for a hand wax. Also, my bluetooth mic was knocked off and the button for my trunk release was popped off, now needs replacement (although I am not 100% certain the trunk button thing happened at Simon's, I just noticed it). For 20-30 bucks I don't expect perfection, but at $135 I don't expect to see dirt remaining on the finish or brake grime on the wheels either. Again, this isn't ground in dirt, it all came off with a towel when I got home. It appears that you are paying for the very nice waiting room and the WiFi, not attention to detail. They offer far more expensive detail services that may be better, but frankly, I'm not going give them a try. Save your money and go to your local joint near you, you'll get the same thing. read more

Took my car to Simon's twice after a recommendation from a friend. Got a new car that I wanted to treat nicer than that the guys at your standard drug money laundering car wash would. I expected that the extra (3x) money would result in extra care being taken to get my car clean. Full disclosure, my car had a LOT of brake dust from a track event. After the first wash, I thought it was just a fluke that my wheels came out of the wash filthy. After the second time I went, and left with dirty wheels, I reached out to the management who told me that I'd need to spring for their $$$ extra wheel treatment to get them clean. I waited a couple weeks to confirm that when I did it myself, the brake dust just wiped right off. They do have a great waiting room, and friendly staff, but unless you want to pay 3x the money for 1/3 the wash, just go to the drug money laundry car wash on your corner. read more

Simon's is the best car wash/detail shop I've ever been to. I now live in Milwaukee and after trying every high end car wash shop inn the area I decided to drive down here to Chicago to get the best wash you can find. I got my boyfriend hooked on Simon's too, so he too now drives down to Chicago to get his car washed and detailed. Expect to wait a good 30 minutes, but that's what a quality wash takes. Wow - the one time Yelp reviews have really let me down. My car got pretty badly scratched the other day and I decided a car wash would make me (and my car) feel better so upon reading Yelp reviews for car washes, I took it here. I also realized they had a body shop and thought I might as well get an estimate on the damage while I was there. The car wash was the worst I've ever seen. They left streaks from soap and water all over my car. I was very disappointed. The guy who gave me the estimate said it'd be $340 to repair the damage, and that because the car was so new they would have to remove the bumper blah blah blah blah blah. He said it'd take 2 days. Long story short, I took my car to the place my parents recommended in Kenilworth and the guy fixed the damage on the spot and refused to take any money for it. That's right, he fixed it for FREE. In 15 minutes. I know body shop people are known for giving girls crappy estimates but this is ridiculous. I will never take my car back to this place again, and I recommend you do the same. read more

Since I took the day off yesterday and it was 60 degrees outside, I decided the little red menace deserved to look spiffy and shiny again. A friend told me about Simon's so off I went. I opted for the second-tier washing and was curious how my car would look afterwards. I couldn't believe when they brought my car around. I haven't seen it look that shiny and new since I drove it off the lot. No, scratch that - it didn't even look as good then. It's as if there was never such a thing as rain, snow, sleet, bird droppings, or any other things autos must endure in an urban environment. As a plus, they have trashy magazines, newspapers, and free wi-fi to help pass the time. I didn't get to see the famous "Simon," who is the owner's Alaskan Malamute, but I'll look for a sighting on my next visit. My car has never looked so good.
