Went to Simon's because we are practicing supporting local mom and pop shops during these crazy times. The little man I met at the front was very sweet. I ordered the 3 piece Pollack & chips plate with a side of calamari rings. It came out to $18.00 . But when your craving something you have to have it. I am pretty sure everything was precooked and frozen so all he has to do is warm it or deep fry it. The tempura texture of the fried fish was great, it even almost tasted like crushed stuffing mix which I liked. The fish inside on the other hand was cold and had zero flavor. So the hero in the corner popped off his lid and announced himself to me (say this in a darth Vader voice) "I am tarter sauce coming to safe your day from that bland, tasteless fish." And he was right, he saved the day. That tarter sauce is amazing! The fries were ok. The calamari rings tasted a but dry like if they had been sitting out for a bit but after be doused with lime they perked right up. This place is a bit expensive, but I would be willing to come try other items just to help them stay open. I definitely would buy tartar sauce from him all day long! I didnt order much but from what i had was the clam chowder, it was super delicious. The seafood platter, was amazing as well besides the oisters being fried. Oisters should have a choice of being fried or raw in its shell,i would have lined it raw in its shell with salt and limon. The batter used was delicious on the fried foods. It was my first time going to eat at this fish n chips restaurant. When I walked in to order my impression of the restaurant was outdated and owner doesn't care about first impression. When I walked up to order it was the owner who took my order. Over all nice man but he reminded me of a person who is unsanitary. I placed my order and he told me 7 minute wait, I said ok. I saw him pull a plastic bag out of the freezer and took out the pieces of fish and put them into the fryer. I'm not a fan of frozen food restaurants. Anyway the whole time waiting for my food I was uneasy about the sanitary condition the restaurant was in.
