Exceptional Care from People Who Truly Care!…read more I want to give a special shout-out to Amanda, the dental assistant, and Angela, the office administrator, at Westchester Gentle Dentistry in Port Chester, NY. These two women are truly exceptional, and they deserve recognition for the difference they make in their patients' experiences! I spent over an hour with Amanda during my initial Invisalign appointment, and I cannot say enough wonderful things about her. I am insanely sensitive when it comes to dental work, and I can be extremely nervous and uncomfortable during dental procedures. Amanda was an absolute angel. She was so calm, patient, gentle, and reassuring throughout the entire appointment. She never made me feel rushed, never made me feel like I was being difficult, and was so attentive to my comfort every step of the way. She took her time, explained things, and made sure I felt at ease. She is incredibly knowledgeable and explained every step. She went above and beyond what I would ever expect, not just by doing her job, but by genuinely caring about how I was feeling throughout the process. That kind of compassion is something you simply cannot teach. It comes from the heart, and Amanda clearly has it. And then there is Angela, the office administrator, who is just as wonderful! She is consistently kind, friendly, helpful, and accommodating, whether I am in the office or calling with a question. She makes you feel like you matter and that your concerns are important. Unfortunately, so many medical and dental offices have staff who come across as rude, impatient, or dismissive, leaving you feeling like an inconvenience rather than a person. Angela is the complete opposite. She is a breath of fresh air in a world where genuine kindness and consideration can sometimes feel increasingly rare. She goes out of her way to help, makes things easier, and does it all with such a warm and personable attitude. Every interaction with her has been positive, and that consistency speaks volumes about the kind of person she is. Amanda and Angela, thank you for being the kind of people who make others feel comfortable, valued, and cared for. You are both such an asset to this practice, and I hope you know how much you are appreciated. Westchester Gentle Dentistry is lucky to have you, and patients like me are even luckier to have found you!

I scheduled an appointment expecting to receive an exam, X-rays, and a routine cleaning. I received the exam, X-rays, and an Invisalign consultation. After the dentist completed the exam, she recommended a deep cleaning, fillings, and an extraction. Instead of moving forward with a cleaning, I was taken to speak with the financial coordinator, who reviewed the proposed treatment plan and costs. The deep cleaning would have cost over $1,000, with my portion being $477 after insurance. I was comfortable discussing the fillings, but I declined the extraction because it has never caused me any problems, and previous dentists have told me it could be monitored if it remained symptom-free. I explained that I was not ready to proceed with the deep cleaning and politely asked if I could receive a regular cleaning instead. I was told that I could not and that I should find another dental practice. That response was disappointing and felt unprofessional. What frustrated me most was that the deep cleaning was presented as a recommendation, yet I felt I had no choice if I wanted any cleaning at all. At every other dental office I've visited, when a deep cleaning was recommended and I declined, I was still given the option of a regular cleaning after discussing the risks and benefits. This was the first time I have ever been refused a cleaning altogether. I understand that treatment recommendations are important and that practices need to discuss available options. However, I also believe patients should be able to ask questions, decline recommended treatment, and still be treated respectfully. I left feeling like my concerns and preferences were not taken into consideration. To make matters more frustrating, my insurance benefits were used for the exam and X-rays, and I now have to schedule another appointment with my previous dentist to receive the cleaning I originally came in for. Overall, I left feeling disappointed by the experience. While the hygienist provided excellent care, the way my treatment options were handled and the lack of flexibility in discussing alternatives left me with a negative impression of the practice.
