I have been going to Dr. Aluf for 15 years and he is still the best dentist I have ever had.

Went to Dr. Zedeker after seeing the great reviews here, as I recently moved to the area and needed…read morea dentist. Upon arriving, it was clearly called out that the practice had changed hands as there's typically holdovers in terms of staff. Dental hygienist who did my cleaning was thorough and couldn't have been nicer. I asked her about an almost-cavity that my previous dentist had been monitoring, and she said it was still a non-issue. The dentist (Eastern European guy, not Zedeker) comes in and magically finds a cavity that she allegedly didn't see. Didn't offer much explanation other than it wasn't the same one I asked about. They insisted I come back to fill the cavity later and had me make an appointment which was weird as typically a dentist will just handle a cavity on the spot. A lot of this didn't sit right with me, so I went to another dentist to double check. Turns out there was no new cavity where they said, and even the old almost-cavity was so small that they would never recommend touching it unless it grew. Maybe they thought I would just allow them to make more money off of me, and do unnecessary (potentially harmful) work in the process. I canceled my appointment and will never return. Maybe this practice was once good and honest, but that clearly isn't the case anymore. Plenty of dentists around who don't pull crap like this. No wonder they needed to buy an existing practice.

Mistreated Customer This is the second time I have had…read moreissues with Dr. Zedeker's front desk. They preferred to call back and confront the patient with "quality assurance" issues to benefit their staff instead of calling to inform of appointment changes or cancellations. In reality, they are working with an automated system and blaming it for all appointment mix-ups. The team is unreliable, lacks empathy and is biased.

Curb Appeal - No Deal…read more I've learned to be cautious of offices with great curb appeal--it often masks deeper issues. That was absolutely the case here. I specifically booked the first appointment of the day (8:00 AM) so I could get to work on time. I arrived early, yet watched two patients who came in after me get taken back first. I wasn't seen until 8:40 AM. Completely unacceptable for a first appointment slot. Things only went downhill from there. The hygienist entered without introducing herself and immediately began working. I had to ask who she was. Her approach was aggressive and impersonal--more like a mechanic working on a car than a clinician treating a patient. Despite being told in advance that I have significant dental sensitivity and prior negative experiences, there was no adjustment in care, no communication, and no effort to check in with me during the procedure. She misinterpreted my reactions, incorrectly stating I had "pocket sensitivity" without ever asking what I was actually feeling. On top of that, she struggled with both the equipment and the computer system, repeatedly needing assistance. This did not inspire confidence. Adding to the discomfort, there was also a noticeable and unprofessional issue with personal hygiene. After more waiting, the dentist finally came in. She was polite, but it was clear she had only just reviewed my history. Despite acknowledging my sensitivity, I had already been placed with the wrong hygienist--something that should have been addressed beforehand, not after the fact. Then came the sales pitch. Within minutes, I was told I needed three additional crowns and a root canal. The interaction felt transactional, not clinical. At one point, she began performing an oral cancer screening without explaining what she was doing. I was startled mid-procedure, and only afterward was it explained. That lack of informed consent is unacceptable. Although I was hesitant, I agreed to give the practice another chance and scheduled a crown replacement with the same dentist. Shortly after, I received a confirmation email assigning me to a completely different dentist--someone I had never met. When I called to cancel, the response did little to restore trust. It felt like a bait-and-switch. Too many missteps. Too many breakdowns in communication, professionalism, and basic patient care. I ultimately returned to my previous dentist, paid out of pocket, and received a completely different--and far more credible--assessment. No root canal. No additional crowns. Just the one crown replacement I actually needed. That alone says everything. This practice demonstrates serious issues with ethics, patient care, and business integrity. I would not recommend it.

RUN. RUN. RUN. If it could be less than one star I would…read morepost it. The dr replaced a filling and I still had extreme tenderness and could not chew on that side of my mouth. SHE SAID WELL IF THAT DOESNT WORK YOU NEED A ROOT CANAL. That didn't set right and so I went to a dentist and a periodontist and both said the filling was not even close to being done completely and she didn't even finish that filling. Are you kidding me? She can't put in a FILLING???

When I asked why my cleaning was only 10 minutes long as I had not been there in over five years, Anna's response was, "Because you came in late" Instead of " Because your teeth are already clean as you have good home hygiene" LOL so yeah, please do not get a cleaning by Ana. She is in her 50s and doesn't even wear eyeglasses. I see 30-year-olds wearing those special eyeglasses so that they can get a better look at your teeth. She also immediately rushed me to x-ray, where I told her I'm only paying for cleaning and asked is it gonna be extra cost if i do it (aka is it included in the price of my cleaning ) where THEN she told me there was extra cost instead of just being upfront and transparent about it when offering the Xray. Also, if coming in late a.k.a. coming within the grace period would have caused her to give me only a 10 minute cleaning, then she should have just told me to go home from the jump. I don't understand why the doctor refused to check the cameras to show that his employee was lying about the time they claimed I came in. It literally said you were now currently being recorded when I was walking up the stairs. No fluoride rinse at end of cleaning or pack of toothbrush, toothpaste, and floss given out either by the way. My recommendation ? Just go to the Tarrytown office to see Dr. Zhong or just go to a completely different office because my experience getting a cleaning was just simply not it! Cheers! X ya

Terrible experience. I thought since this was the father of the kid who runs Facebook, he was in…read morethis because he loved dentistry, not money. WRONG. There is nothing different than any other profit-focused dentist office. Not only did my root canal not fit, my complaints that it was chipping the opposite tooth were COMPLETELY ignored (and cracked my other tooth so deeply it broke in half and a deep cavity formed in the crack 6 months later), and rather than doing anything about my root canal that didn't fit, they were constantly upselling me on $200+ clear mouthguards and other stuff as well as ways to finance all the upsells. This was especially disheartening because I trusted them 200% and spent everything I had at the time (out of pocket, no insurance) to have the work done (at a serious premium), and nothing fit or lasted. Nothing here is special, or even modern- and as far as "painless", this office does NOTHING different than anywhere else I've been, even the 2 offices of the chain Dr. Dental had FAR more professional workers and FAR more modern equipment. That their prices are a solid 40% more than anywhere else adds insult to injury. I am leaving this review a few years after I had the work done (and repaired by Dr. Dental) as it cost me a fortune to repair the mess this place made, and I'm still sick over the cost, damage, and wasted time and procedures. They just have a revolving staff of dentists who work there, there is no loyalty or concern like you'd expect at that price. Severely disappointed, and feeling very ripped off. Notice how many years they've been in business (20+ years at this location, at least), yet there are only a few reviews- somehow all the unfavorable reviews "disappear" and only the one good review by a single-review-leaving member from back in 2011 is floating around as the only positive review, and in 6 years not one person marked it as even "helpful".
