Everyone was friendly, helpful, and professional throughout the whole move. The only thing I would mention is that the move took longer than we originally expected. BUT honestly, I don't really see this as a negative because it was clear that they were taking their time and doing things the right way. We've had movers in the past who rushed, cut corners, and ended up damaging things, so I would much rather have a team take a little longer and be careful with our stuff. I reached out via cell and Alex responded the same day asking for more info. I texted it all to him. The next day he emailed me a quote and laid out all the info. The pricing was very fair, and based on his quick response time and great reviews, I decided to hire them. I am very glad that I did. My move went extremely well. I hired 2 movers and a 20-foot truck. Eugene and Serg were great. They clearly communicated their arrival time and kept me updated via text. There were 2 pick up locations - my storage unit and my parent's house. They had everything from storage wrapped and packed into the truck in 2 hours. Then we went to my parents for a few more things, we were out of there in under an hour. They drove to Jersey City and then had the entire truck unpacked and moved in and all the packing material cleaned up in 3 hours. It was an extremely hot day and the guys worked really hard and very quickly. I could not be more grateful to Alex and his team for the excellent job, and I would definitely hire them again for my next move. I again gave the destination pickup/drop off and full inventory list. That was three days ago, no response. Honestly, how can you be a reputable company when you don't respond to client requests? If the job was something they didn't/couldn't do, the least they could do is tell you instead of ignoring you. I asked if they could do one thing - wrap my furniture in blankets - and he answered "no, it's our policy not to wrap the furniture with pads prior to putting them in the truck, as it makes it very difficult to carry the items. I apologize that we won't be able to meet your specific needs and we will not be able to move you." I emailed him back, said I'd be OK with that (even though it wasn't ideal for me), and I haven't heard back. This was 4 days ago. Being a business owner myself, this is not how you treat a repeat customer. Based on this poor experience I would not recommend Smooth Moving Pros.

The day before my move, I still hadn't heard from them regarding what time the movers would arrive. When I called to inquire, I was told that my original quote was wrong and that I would have to pay around $200 more. I was irritated, but was already set to move the next day, so I agreed to the new quote from this new person. The movers arrived 2 hours before the scheduled time (not their fault, once again the fault of the company), and they were LOVELY. Such nice men, friendly, and did an excellent job. After they had finished, I received a call from yet again a different person asking to settle my payment. This time, it was FIVE HUNDRED more than my initial quote. I was baffled. I explained to this new person my situation, what the previous two people had told me, and why I certainly wasn't going to agree to pay that much more. She understood, talked to someone else, and lowered the price back down closer to my 2nd quote (still higher than the original). I would never recommend this company. I listened and did what he said, and we came out at the end with very minimal damage. FYI it was the cargo trailer way of moving-you load and unload it yourself. We did the loading end but the Sultans of Schlep sent 3 smart, funny, hipster artists to unload, which they did in 3 hours. I don't plan to move anytime soon but I would hire them again in a minute.
