I am a frequent shopper. Lots of really fresh veggies and healthy vibrant plants. Tomatoes have been especially tasty this year. Normally I like to pick my own ears of corn but they have someone pre bagging 1/2 dozen and dozen bags. I have yet to have a bad ear so I look at it that they are saving me time! They are efficient at everything they do and everyone is pleasant and helpful. No need to drive all the way to their farm! read more

we had such a great time at simmons farm! it's the perfect spot for a fall day with little ones, there's so much to do between the hayride, slides, flowe picking, apple picking, corn maze, pumpkin picking, and even the corn bus (my toddler's favorite!). the whole place feels warm and family-oriented, and the apple cider slushies + fried oreos were so good. lots of food vendors to choose from, we love the roaming bean! the only thing i'd note is that the prices felt a bit high, especially since the hayride ticket doesn't include a pumpkin, with a pumpkin is +5. just something to keep in mind if you're going with a group or family. still, totally worth the trip for the experience and the memories. read more

I entered the store and walked around a little, but I did not buy anything, because I planned to visit their other store that is located a few miles away. If you're a local shopper, you need to add Simmons Market to your list of grocery options. This little market sells produce from locally run Simmons Farm itself. Stop on in to the family's market location and you can browse through a greenhouse, pick up some wine, indulge in incredible desserts, and leave with an array of fresh local produce. Honestly, just walking through here makes me want to eat healthier. Walk in and you can browse through aisle upon aisle of fruit, vegetables...and all of it is some of the best that the area has to offer. Although I admit, the enormous desserts that are the pies and tasty cookies being sold alongside the produce kind of ruin my chances at a 100% healthy shopping streak during my visits here. As an added bonus, you can pick up a few seasonal things that'll brighten up the decor in your place throughout the year. Last time I was here, the greenhouse was full of pumpkins; and I left with a hand-decorated pumpkin that was perfect for Halloween. Soon the place will be filling up with Christmas trees - if only I had the room for one! And as if being a delicious shopping option wasn't enough, the website for this business says that the market can also host birthday parties, summer camps, field trips, hayrides, a petting zoo...lots of fun little seasonal things for a family to enjoy. While I'm not the target audience for the parties and camps and whatnot, I'm definitely going to try to take the time to stop here before hitting up the Giant Eagle or Target in the future. Often times when I go to the Original Farmer's Market near Cecil I tend to miss out on the "hot items" in this case being honeycrisp apples. Simmon's Farm is located in nearby McMurray, PA. There is a sign as you enter that says "no public restrooms." They carry a good selection of produce that you will find directly from their farm and from other places as well. The sell freshly baked pies along with a host of other goodies such as cookies and popcorn. As the season begins to change apples are just beginning to get in the forefront but right now there's a vast number of tomatoes available if you are into canning. They sell plants and they make their own cider. There is a sign which will enable you to pick your own pumpkin directly from the farm but that will probably be in Oct. They sell some of the convenience foods I have seen in grocery stores along with their own cider. It is wise however, to know your prices because not everything is at a better rate than at the supermarket. I looked at the cantaloupes and thought for $4.00 a melon they looked overripe. The tomatoes however, were marked with a white label as soft which would be used for cooking. They have a lovely greenhouse and a beautiful selection of white and traditional pumpkins if you want to get a jump-start on your baking or for Halloween. Everything is clearly marked. If you want to buy corn on the cob they sell it as bagged for 6 ears or a dozen. Individual is sold as well but I really wasn't looking for that. I was pleased to be able to pick up my honey-crisp apples which were a descent size to tide me over for the next week or so. They have their own parking lot and it is a easy on and off from either side of Rt 19 South. read more

Simmons Farm is located in McMurray, PA, and offers pick your own peaches, apples and pumpkins. The farm stand is located on Route 19 just as you cross over the Washington County line as you head south, and is open early spring through late fall. I live a quarter of a mile from the stand, so I'm in often. Depending on the time of year, they have flowers and plants, fresh berries, peaches, apples, corn on the cob, tomatoes, potatoes, lettuce and a variety of other fresh produce. I drop by Simmons all season long to get my local produce, and go every October to pick out a couple of pumpkins to carve for Halloween. They always have a pie baking in the oven, so it smells heavenly every time you go in. There are two ladies who've been working there for years, and it took a couple of years for them to warm up to me (seriously) but I was in the service industry and am deeply compassionate toward those who must wait on a sometimes clueless public. I get these ladies. The corn on the cob is bagged is plastic...6 ears to a bag...and you're not supposed to go through them and switch them out. That's really the only rule, so go and have a nice time. They have hayrides, Pick U-R Own, birthday parties and a green house at the farm itself out on Simmons Road, so bring the kids and have some local fun. read more

Service is great and I've never had a bad experience. Although there are christmas tree sellers everywhere, my family always come here for christmas trees! I use to go to simmons farm every year in gradeschool. It was great. I would find pumpkins so big out in there field I could barely carry it back to the tractor. We decided to take our daughter who is 16 months old. We also invited a friend with 2 more kids ages 2 and 4. We paid for the package, and suprise they charge full price for little kids. I really would of though kids 2 and under would been $7.00. They charged $11.00 same as adult price. Nevertheless we did the hayride through the apple orchard and got dropped off where all the activities are at. Come to my suprise they added some things since I been there last. There was an old fire truck a very long slide, tractor, corn maze, and a very small hay maze. I remember the hay maze being big enough to stand in before. While out there the weather turned sour started to rain and 70 deg. felt like 60 now. I called in to see if the kids could get a pumpkin back at the main building. Come to my suprise the answer was you have to get it from the field. So we got the kids under a tent building they have out there and I went out and found 6 pumpkins. Seems alot of the pumpkins out in the fields were crushed, rotted, bad spots, and lop sided. It took a good bit to find 6 decent pumpkins. Got back to the building, Loaded everyone up and never looked back. I highly doublt I will be a repeat customer of simmons farm now. I think I will try trax farm. read more

Originally we were planning on going apple picking here, but ended up getting there a little too late to be able to do so. Not a big deal. Instead, we wandered around the market area and tried to go for a walk around the property. We walked up into the apple orchard area and were almost immediately chased out by an employee on a four-wheeler. He asked us to leave the orchard area for "security reasons" and was quite rude. Slightly discouraged, we walked down to the main road that goes around the farm. As we were walking toward the pumpkin patch and corn maze, the same guy came up to us and told us that we were not welcome on that road either. The message was clear; they were not interested in us being on their farm. It was off putting to be told that we weren't even allowed to go for a walk and then when we voiced slight disappointment and turned around to go back to our cars, the employee yelled after us that we "didn't need to have that attitude." Needless to say, we will not be returning and would not recommend Simmons Farm to anyone. I am sure there are plenty of other apple picking places in the area that are much better and don't have the customer service and attitude problems of Simmons. read more

i puchased some produce from here recently, and it included their 1/2 bushel of canning tomatoes. got them home couldn't wait to try them, before making sause with them. i sliced one and it was "hard'! so, i tried one more, the same "bland" , "hard", tomato. very disappointed, at this point, usually great tomatoes.... so, i called the farm to see about returning these to get my refund. absolutely not! i explained to the manager named :"megan', that i only used #2 of them , i still have the rest of the bushel, and my receipt! she said i could buy other produce, but not my money back, that's their policy! that's ridiculous!! i paid my money, i don't want anything else, now you tell me you won't refund my money??? that's poor customer service! and, it's deliberately misleading!! they lost my business of more than 15 yrs.!!! read more
