    My bag of hand-picked apples
    Tiffany Y.

Simmons Farm is a family-owned farm that has operated for several decades. They have an on-site store that sells produce that they picked earlier in the day as well as plants such as flowers and Christmas trees. The farm also offers many activities, such as hayrides, apple-picking, flower-picking, pumpkin-picking, a petting zoo, mazes, slides, a butterfly house, etcetera. (See my attached photos to see what activities were available on the day that I went.) My husband and I arrived at 9:30 AM on a Saturday, and the parking lot was already getting full. An employee told us where to park our vehicle. Another employee kindly directed us to the apple orchard, the activity in which we were primarily interested. At the orchard, another employee politely asked us how we were doing and asked us what size of bag we wanted. Currently, the prices for u-pick apples range from $9 for a 1/2 peck (which is ~12-15 apples) to $40 for a bushel (which is ~100 apples). I felt grateful that they accept payment via credit card. My husband and I selected the 1/2 peck of apples. The apples that are ripe on a given day are marked with a yellow rope. On that day, the available apples were Fuji and Querina (a cross between a Golden Delicious and a Jonathan). Many of the trees either had no apples or had apples that were very high up, so my husband and I walked farther into the orchard to find apples. We had fun with finding our apples and pulling them off the branches. The other activity that we did was visiting the petting zoo. The zoo was smaller than we had expected. It had some goats, sheep, and chickens. Feed was available for purchase in the nearby store. At home, we ate the apples. The apples had blemishes, but they were crispy and juicy, and they tasted sweet and tart.

Very nice local farm. Its always great to find delicious local fruits and vegetables from such a spot. I even found some items that brought back nostalgia. The prices are very decent, too. I tried their grapes (very unique), apples, tomatoes, and got some decorative pumpkins as well. The grapes were the most nostalgic item for me. Many people probably won't love them, but these taste very similar to the ones found in my old home in Kreminna. It's probably the closest that I've gotten to Kreminna grapes. The inside is somewhat jelly-like and a bit hard to chew. There are also seeds, so beware. But, the flavor is nice, a bit on the tart side. The apples were quite nice as well. They taste distinctly different from those available at the store, but very good. Not too sweet or too tart. The apples I got were small and miniature. Another thumbs up from me. Tomatoes were significantly larger than what you'd find at the store. Honestly, I'm not such a big fan of huge tomatoes. I'd much rather have smaller but more flavorful tomatoes, like back in my home country. This was a bit of a let down, but still, not bad and definitely better than some store bought varieties. All in all, come here to do some handpicking for vegetables and fruits. The prices are reasonable and you may even save money. The flavors are great and you can feel good about supporting a local farm. They also have activities going on during Halloween, Christmas, and other holidays.

Visiting Pittsburgh and was looking for something to do with my parents and nephews (8 and 3) and this was perfect. The drive there was nice (20 mins from Bridgeville) and the lady who helped me today was super nice. The market itself was nice and clean and we did the "You pick your own peaches ". Minimum requirement is 1/4 peck and cost was $8 an adult. On the way to the peach orchard we passed the Apple orchard. Was a nice walk since today wasn't sunny. Peaches was yummy and we even bought a peach pie a well. Highly recommended. =)

This was my second time going flower picking! Lots of options and not too expensive! The staff are always super friendly. Lots of yummy options at the market as well!

It's not summertime without a trip to the flower fields at Simmons! What a beautiful array of flowers at an affordable price. Check in at the market, get your bucket and scissors, and head to the field (via car on a dirt farm road)! A photo shoot in the zinnias is icing on the cake. (There's also a lot more to Simmons, so be sure to check their website/social media for what's in season!)

My mother and I love coming each year for the pick-your-own flowers. It is $10.50 to pick, and you receive a bucket and scissors. This is something great for Mom and I to do each year and I am excited we have something like this in Washington County. The flowers actually last much longer then you'd think to. They lasted about two weeks. Simmons provides you with a packet of flower food and gives proper instructions on the care of your flowers.

We've been 2x for pick your own flowers and what fun and beauty for a reasonable price. Current price is $12 + $5 refundable bucket fee. Gorgeous variety and fun for all ages. Depending on where you live, I would recommend bringing bucket/water for the car ride home as some of the flowers will immediately wilt.

What a warm welcome! we got on the back of a tractor and we were met with a smile and a quick safety brief! Now let's put aside the fact it was fr freezing out that day to me and my family but we were determined to have a good time at his place. so off we went when we got there it was really really cold so we immediately went into the food. To be honest I thought the food was really good great greasy comfort food. for you there was also an area if you wanted to just buy your apples and go once we finished eating we paid to pick apples and we were off. The picking of the apples was really fun and the first time I have ever done something like that we had a great time like I said it was freezing so the trip ended very quickly in fact snow flurries begin to fall on us when we started to head back to our vehicle but we ended up for eight dollars we ended up with a bag overflowing of apples for the week my family seem to like the taste of freshly picked apples and my daughter like telling her friends at school that she picked these apples herself! TheThe staff constantly was always asking is everything OK do you need help and very friendly we will definitely be back again and again !!

We have been there twice recently...we like to support locals. However...disappointed with how we were treated and the quality of the produce. No wonder why they don't let you see what the corn looks like under the husks... corn was pathetic. About half of every ear of corn had to be cut off and discarded. Giant Eagle had peppers from another local farm and were MUCH better. The list goes on.....Will not be going back to Simmons.

The products, though, did look temptingly delicious. I greatly appreciated that an employee approached me and asked me if I needed assistance. I asked her where the petting zoo was located, and she kindly gave me clear directions.

I ordered online, as recommended, and was disappointed to see the menu provided by the owner had different prices. $2+ more expensive per item than what was shown. That wasn't a deal breaker, I know food costs have gone up, but that added a decent amount to my total. When I went to pick up my food, the restaurant was empty. I stood there for a couple minutes, but no one showed up. I said hello, but no one showed up. I said hello AGAIN, a minute later, but nothing. (Side note: the in restaurant prices match the menu) I called while standing in the restaurant and no one picked up the phone. I waited eight minutes and finally a guy exited the bathroom, asked me if I was there for a pickup, put my juice on the counter and walked away. After getting to my car, I see on top of being charged extra for ordering online, there is also an online ordering fee! I spent over $30 on the three items pictured below. Maybe this was an off day. The juice was decent, so definitely give that a try and go in to order. Save yourself at least $5.
