This is definitely one of the nicer Giant Eagles, but it is still just a Giant Eagle with the typical flaw (expensive). This is the closest grocery store to my home, and while it has everything I need from a supermarket the prices are certainly higher than other supermarkets. With the higher prices there is some added value to be found in their food options. They have dry aged steaks and more organic offerings than, say, shop n save. They also have some nicer health and beauty products like higher end soaps and nutrition shakes. But it is certainly a far cry from Trader Joe's or Whole Foods or even Giant Eagle's own market district. The reason I give it 4 stars is because all of their normal offerings are priced higher for no reason. I understand their nicer meats and higher end products being expensive, but regular staples shouldn't be. read more

We are "sick" of purchasing fruits from GIANT EAGLE, Washington, PA, #0039...... and needing to throw most away because of rancid tastes and brown-colored inners. For 2 days now I have been going to the Washington Giant Eagle to get the Green Giant frozen vegetables for 95 cents and for 2 days all they have is creamed spinach. They made such a big deal about it but they do not have the product that they advertise to help people with their grocery bill. I recently had a picnic where I needed 125 pieces of fried chicken.for a very reasonable price, giant eagle in McMurray provided this service and product for me. It was delicious!! All of our guests commented on how godwit was. Cooked well, very moist and all legs, thighs and breasts. I would highly recommend this chicken for your next party. read more

The store is fine but the older guy working curbside loses his mind if you do not pick spot 1,2 or 3. Not sure why they have , I believe, 6 spots if you get in trouble for parking in any of the spots. read more

Have shopping here for 3 years but no longer after today. The policies for showing an ID are out of control. First time was to buy a 6 pack of non-alcoholic beer 2 show ID to buy visa gift card 3 ID to but a lighter 4 and today to show ID to buy cough drops. Update: I avoided buying their bakery bread for a while because if I was going to shell out for a loaf, I'd rather give my money for Panera down the street. Last week I caved and bought a loaf of Olive Oil Bread. I'm not sure if they think we are stupid, but using smaller amounts of dough and letting it rise longer does NOT result in more bread. It results in more tunnelling. This was a pre-sliced loaf. How can they sell this to us? Why do the customers put up with it? read more

This is the Giant Eagle location closest to my home, and that's the only reason I ever go here. When I have the time, I go north to the Market District, which is a much better supermarket. They do offer a small selection of organic produce here, but recently they made the aisle only one cart wide, so it's really challenging to shop their organic produce. Just this morning I had to back my cart out to let another woman in, and if it's really busy? Forget it....you end up fighting the other shoppers for elbow room. A really crappy design, especially considering the vast amount of aisle space they dedicate to their snack food and carbonated sugar water selection at this location. The only reason I left 2 stars for this place is because some of the staff has been here forever, and they're very helpful and knowledgeable, in the way that people become when they're very familiar with their surroundings. And I like the beauty/personal care aisle that got an update a few years back. read more

So I went there the other evening at 8:45pm ish. In PA you can't buy beer after 9pm so off I went quickly. Got to the beer section (just inside the door at 8:55pm. They had the curtains down over the beer coolers. I walked over to the register and the ladies there had pulled out the cash drawer already. I glanced at the time stamp on the register. It was 8:56. I said "can I still buy beer?" The lighter haired lady said "nope. It's closed at 9." I said, it's not 9pm. I pointed at the monitor that said 8:57 now. She said "well, I don't care. I'm sure you can't find beer and get it up here fast enough." Her attitude was really snotty and mean. I was not happy at all. I turned and left the store (I'd planned to buy a lot of other groceries.) Here are the problems: 1. Gates were pulled prior to 8:55 so they closed early 2. Register was pulled prior to 8:55 so they didn't plan to sell beer until the legal time 3. The lady was hella rude and judgmental The law says 9pm. I understand the register won't physically ring beer after that. They closed early on purpose. I don't care if business was slow, you wait. I will be buying my beer elsewhere from now on. read more

It's not one of the newly remolded Giant birds. It the reason it gets 4 Stars is because before you get in the men's and ladies room there is a cabinet with free diapers and baby wipes that's a great idea I've never seen before. Plus the restrooms are clean as is the store. The produce section, deli,meat counter are all neat,clean and well organized. I always think Giant birds prices are high but the quality has always been good. read more

Every time I come to this giant eagle it's always a nice time. Everyone's friendly, service is speedy, they actually seem fully staffed to keep things moving (that's always a big thing for me) I like to go out of my way to be able to get the real well factor even if it's just something as simple as picking up a pop and chips. read more

Typical Giant Eagle could use a face lift and some remodeling however it's kind of land locked in it's current location so I don't see it happening any time soon. The parking lot can be fun getting in and out of. It's the most convenient location to our house and we always find whatever we need it's clean and the service is good. read more

One of the worst shopping experiences ever. Firstly, the prices are too high. Whenever I go into the lobby, I see trash inside of the carts. The cart people should check to see if there's any trash in the carts and if there is, then remove them. Another problem is the employees. One bagger named Frank is, without a doubt, the most useless employee ever. He spends his entire shift doing nothing but either talking to other customers, or standing out in the lobby doing nothing at all. I have also seen him treat other employees like they're below him and he constantly refuses to do his job instead telling the other employees what to do. He's even gone do far as saying he doesn't have to do anything because he's got superiority. I've noticed he says he's got superiority alot. To me, what Frank's really saying is that he's just too lazy to do his job. Then there's another bagger, Kelli. All she does is stand at one register her whole shift instead of moving to other registers and she constantly talks down to the other employees. Another bagger, William, often complains about whatever task he's given. One of the cashiers, Deana, from what I've seen, won't let one bagger bag for her. I was standing in her line and a bagger, don't know his name, went to bag for her and Deana told the bagger that I wanted to bag my own groceries causing the bagger to walk away upset. This is NOT true, I never, in any way indicated that I wanted to bag my own groceries. I never said I wanted to bag my own groceries and with how much I got, I certainly needed help with my groceries being bagged. I've also noticed that Deana only refuses that one bagger to bag for her but lets other baggers help her. I have also noticed that laziness of the managers themselves. The only time they're ever seen is when somebody calls for help. One manager, Cindy, spends more time in her office then helping other employees when they ask her for help. I could go on but it would take over an hour of other things I notice wrong about this store but I will say this. The Donaldson's Crossroads Giant Eagle is the worst place to shop. They should either shut this place down for good or hire people who actually want to work. read more

Prices higher due to the area (primarily white Upper class) who can afford the higher prices. Broccoli goes for $2.99 a pound, for example. Huge, so you can get everything you want. There's even a small cafe that sells premade food and 6-packs, if you're into that. Pharmacy is fast and convenient. Iggle's Nest watches younger kids. read more

Thank you to the friendly staff at Giant Eagle for always lending a helping hand. I have two children and sometimes running in for a gallon of milk is much harder then it looks. I ran in one day just for milk and my daughter ended up getting sick. I didn't bring my diaper bag in because I was just getting milk. An employee saw that I was in need of help and put down everything she was doing to lend a hand. Thats what I call excellent customer service. Thank you!!!! read more

I wish there was a negative star! I ordered four dozen gourmet cupcakes from the Washington Pa store for my grandnieces fourth birthday. When her mom came to pick up the order they substituted regular cupcakes. I paid close to fifty bucks for these promised cupcakes and they were very important for this party. Giant Eagle never apologized. Just gave my niece attitude when she complained and said they would not refund my money. This was ordered December 10th. A man named Matt who took my charge card finally called me December 26th and then berated me because he could not give me a refund because I don't live near a Giant Eagle. I am so glad I don't. Please have my sympathies for you all that have to use them. Just don't order any cupcakes!!!!! read more

I am so disappointed in Giant Eagle as company. I have been shopping at this store for the last 11 years. The staff at this store our wonderful kind people, who have helped me through two pregnancies, getting my groceries with newborns, and sickness. My children are all old enough now that they love to go to the eagle's nest. And the staff there couldn't be more wonderful. It has been brought to my attention that they will be closing this service to their community on April 8th. Their staff is devastated. They will be losing their jobs. It would not be surprising to anyone that Giant Eagle has higher prices than other stores in our area, its a fact. But it is worth it to us parents out there to go where our children have a good time and we can get our shopping done. The Eagle's Nest at this store always went above and beyond, offering programs and well thought out crafts for the kids. I will be ending my patronage there. Obviously Giant Eagle as a brand cares little for their community and the wonderful service they were providing. And even less about their employees. read more
