We take our min pin here when we are unable to take him on certain trips. I first found this place last year. the staff is kind and everyone there seems to love what they do. They have everything there for your pet. The temperament test process was so simple, they offer vaccinations there if needed before your dogs stay, treats are available during their boarding time, pick up and drop offs are a breeze. You get photo updates of your dog while you're gone and they check in with any concerns. I've also brought my dog over there just for a day to play and they offer very reasonable prices for that too. read more

I was looking for a good boarding kennel for my dog. I asked to tour the Simi Valley Pet Resort before committing/pre-registering. I was told that I could not do that "for safety reasons." Before entrusting my dog to the care of any facility I want to know what it looks like, their sanitary and care conditions, etc. Not being able to do so was a "deal breaker." The clerk behind the counter was courteous, not so her colleague who had a "take it or leave it attitude." The first red flag should have been the sign outside the door saying "only one person in the lobby at a time" leaving me outside in the sun waiting. Not exactly customer-friendly. read more

I wanted to thank Candice at Grooming by Candice, located in the Simi Valley Pet Resort. I have a problematic Cavachon puppy. Finley is six months old, and I'm convinced he's a bit psychotic! He is stubborn, refuses to listen, and will look right at you while peeing on the floor. Can dogs have ADD? He is a wack-a-doodle. Don't get me wrong, he has the sweetest personality and has yet to meet a stranger. He never slows down, and I love him to the moon and back. I spoke with Candice before our appointment and explained the situation. One groomer had 'fired' us, and another could only bathe him and manage to clip just one toe. I think Finley might have sent her to therapy! Candice had all the confidence in the world that she could handle him. From the moment I walked in, I could tell my dog was in great hands.! Candice took the time to understand my dog's needs and made the entire grooming experience as stress-free as possible for both Finley and me. She assured me she would follow his cues and work at his pace. She said she couldn't promise anything, but she would try. Two long hours later, he appeared looking more handsome than I ever image! He looked just like I had imagined he would look. The grooming itself was top-notch. Finley looks amazing; he was strutting around the room like a peacock, plus he seemed very comfortable with Candice. Candice's attention to detail and genuine care for the animals set her apart. It's clear that she loves what she does. I highly recommend "Grooming by Candice" to anyone looking for a skilled, compassionate groomer. I used to have a mobile service come to My house to groom my Frenchie, but that got expensive and they flaked on me a couple of times. I discovered this place is within walking distance and they groomed my dog for half the price! They even gave me a discount because I brought my own shampoo. I love the people who work here, they are so sweet and genuine and you can tell they are very passionate about what they do. My dog always looks so fresh and so clean after grooming here, they even put a little handkerchief around his neck for a handsome touch. Was great until recently. I booked a reservation a week in advance. This past Friday, I went to drop off the dogs at noon, on my way to the airport, since my flight from Burbank was leaving at 2PM. Well, turns out it's doggie napp time from 12-2PM. Knocking on the front and back door, honking etc., Suggested that, I was avoided or no one is present. Let me get this straigth!? [All the animals] magically pass out for 120 minutes and the staff is there to ensure, the dogs are not interrupted. My wife, both kids and I had to drive to Las Vegas. 4 tickets I now have to use within 1 year. Luck to get that. Are kidding me ?! I've dropped my dogs plenty times, during these hours Yes, Im aware of nap time "FOR DOGS" people use your service "BECAUSE THEY ARE LEAVING TOWN AT ALL HOURS OF THE DAY." (I certainly don't expect you open after 6PM but (Noon to 2) PM on a weekday. someone needs to be present. Afterall, the dogs are locked up, in cages. now that you require reservations business seems to be doing better. So which is it ? Owners are either to cheap to pay employees for a 2 hour or not give a crap about your customers Wait, there's more, since the doors were locked. I left a message and several calls, hoping to receive a return call. 3 days later I received a call from the the resort asking me about missed calls from this number. Thank you yelp, for providing a platform to voice experiences. As for me, I only share my frustrations when encountering a business that fails to recognize their repricusions. e.g. my case in point. Maybe irony will prevail ?!, If the stakeholders of SVPR feel a similar financial impact. Businesses such as Drs or govt offices close for TWO HOUR. Not yours. How about making appointments times, out side 12-2 if your employee(s) are so busy busy preparing stuff for 2 hours to feed a dozen dogs. In the mean time, I have little doubt, while I was frustrated, calling and honking, you were watching a camera feed, smirking. Indeed I found a place that doesn't smell like dog urine fused with ammonia and appreciate customers that would have paid over $500 to watch his dogs for a long weekend. Good luck! read more

The groomer here is amazing. I got a poodle about a year ago and had tried several groomers in Simi but never found one that fit quite right. Some had really weird pricing where I never knew what the price would be and they booked out really far. Candice's prices never change and she's upfront about what needs to be done and how much it will cost. She's also pretty easy to get booked once you're a client and she warns you about her busy times. read more

We scheduled an extended stay for our frenchie babies over the 4th of July holiday. We were extremely hesitant as most puppy parents are. We knew our boy would be just fine, we mostly worried about our covid baby girl. At the end of the day keeping them together was the goal. Simi Valley pet resort was definitely the place to GO! The team kept us up-dated with daily photos, the winner-winner is that they looked amazing upon our arrival, no weight loss, booties clean and wrinkles looked especially hydrated. Our family would highly recommend this establishment, a special shout out to Dakotah (i can tell my baby girl Zoey, loves her) and steve for always being available and compassionate towards our fury ones. I've taken my dog here a few times. The price is right but I don't feel that welcomed when I walk through the door, not to mention every time I've walked in it has a strong urine smell. I can tell the staff is doing their best as they are always busy. Another thing I wish they had were cameras so there was a way to see videos of my dog throughout the day like another dog daycare we've gone too. I am posting my review about grooming services performed by Candice. She has been grooming my 10-year-old male labradoodle Teddy for the past couple years now. I am so fortunate to have found her after trying numerous other groomers over the years located in cities up and down the California coast, but I was never satisfied until I met Candice through mutual friends. She is a consummate professional. Every time I pick up Teddy after being groomed by Candice, he seriously looks like a show dog ready to perform and win first place! It literally takes her 3 full hours to complete the entire grooming process because Teddy's hair is so long and it's very complex to do it exactly right. People on the street and neighbors are always stopping us to visit with Teddy and tell us how cute he looks with his haircut. Leaving a pet with a stranger is stressful but the staff of this place is so welcoming, caring, and attentive, we are able to relax and attend to the trips we need to make without worry. Our first visit was with our baby kitten for a "cat slumber party." I love that they call it that - as I think that is exactly how our pet feels about it. Such a positive and fun multi-night stay. I remember the first time being in the position of needing to board him. We found this place, and right away I knew it was something special. By having a pre-boarding appointment so that the staff can meet your pet first is such a great and professional approach. Both the pet and the staff should make sure it's going to be a fit. If it is, there are no surprises and you know your pet will be happy. The 2 young ladies that got to meet our kitten at that session were just so perfect. I felt as is if my own daughter and friend were going to be taking care of her cat. The staff bonded with our kitten and I think he wanted to start the stay right then! We went back, dropped him off, and received a good night greeting from him via text that night and saw him playing and having fun on the Instagram feed. Our hearts were so full and relieved to know our pet was enjoying his stay. It is invaluable. We now will always go here. I think our pet actually looks forward to it and we love seeing him playing and resting happy via the updates. I am super happy with place first of they gave my dog a temperment test and let he be with other dog. Ive been to places that immediately separates her for being a bull terrier, the employees applie my dogs hydrocortison lotion as i had directed and followed her raw food diet. I had adopted a dog from a shelter and this was her first time being groomed professionally from my knowledge. She's a 9 month old german shepherd boxer mix and is a bit anxious. She isn't a big fan of loud noises, so I was nervous about taking her to get groomed. Upon arrival she did get really scared especially when Candice and her assistant came out, but eventually warmed up to both of them. They were both extremely patient with her as well. Candice talked me through the whole process of what was going to happen which I appreciated dearly because it was my first time at the groomers as well. When I went to pick her up she was squeaky clean and did such a good job in the bath tub. Candice and her assistant did an amazing job with her. I'll definitely be back! I set an appointment a week ago for today. I arrived right on time and walked in to an empty lobby. I stood there for over 5 minutes with nobody there and waited a few more minutes. I had to pick up my kids from school so I walked out with my dog in it's carrier and only then someone came out and called me. They just lost a customer and got a bad review. My 2 dogs (7 yrs & 5 yrs) have been attending social daycare a few days each week since it opened. They both love it there. They are excited to go into the play area each time we arrive. I am so glad I found this place! I had been searching and doing a lot of research to find a safe place in Simi that I could take my 18 week old puppy to so that he could socialize with other dogs. I came across Simi Valley Pet Resort and I felt 100% comfortable bringing my puppy there after meeting the wonderfully kind staff, trainers and owner. It is very clear that they are all dog lovers and always have the best interest of the dog in mind. I was able to bring him in for a free half day of doggie day care to see if he liked it and how he did. They did a temperament test and matched him up with dogs that would best fit his personality, size and energy level to play with. My corgi puppy has only been there twice so far and has already made a lot of growth in his socialization and confidence thanks to Simi Valley Pet Resort. He will be coming in on a weekly basis now because he loves it... and I love that I can send him to a safe, clean and supervised space where he can get his all of his puppy energy out. read more
