WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!!!
My s2000 got damaged on drivers side fender/door area while I was out of town. Took it in to Simi Auto Body.
The body work looked great and brand new. However, when I sat in the car to leave, I noticed the passenger side mirror was turned all the way to the right.
I tried to move it with the door remote and it only moved down, sometimes up, and not left or right.
I bring this to the attention of the employee that checked me out.
This man (Who I believe worked on my car) said I needed a new side view mirror control.
I was not in the mood nor did I have the patience or time to argue and wait longer so I left.
At this point, I had already bought a 2nd vehicle so I did not drive my s2000 as much (to keep the miles and wear and tear off). However, driving it every once in a while since I got the body work done, I noticed that the drivers side mirror housing (the side I had the body work done on) was loose and caused the mirror to shake while driving down normal road conditions (very noticeable and very hard to look at while driving).
I also noticed that the sound in my drivers side speaker was a bit distorted.
Well I finally had the time to investigate all of these problems.
Heres what I found...
1. After taking the drivers side door panel off where the side view mirror controls are, I noticed that the connectors for the plug were BENT!
This (I can only assume) has been preventing the passenger side mirror from operating left/right/and sometimes up.
I can only guess that when connecting the door panel back on, they were too aggressive or uncareful with the plug and bent the wires.
Luckily I was able to spend a good amount of time to straighten all of the wires back to normal (not easy) and get the passenger side mirror to operate normally again, for now...
2. Investigating why the drivers side mirror housing was loose was a bit more difficult as there was more to disconnect and unscrew to get to the mount.
There are 3 nuts that hold the housing in place. 2 OF THE NUTS WERE MISSING. There was only 1 nut holding the mirror housing on which was why it was loose and shaking. The way my car got hit, they had to have taken off the mirror in order to perform the body work on my car.
I looked in the door panel to see if the nuts were just loose and came off, but there were none, which tells me they did not put all 3 nuts back on the housing... and they were very difficult to replace.
Very time consuming.
Not something I wanted to spend a free Saturday on, but oh well.
3. This one may be a bit more speculative, but my drivers side speaker looked as if someone punch a hole through it.
I have dealt with blown out speakers before and this looked as if someone hit it with an object.
Not a huge deal as speakers aren't that expensive, but it's the principle of it.
And like i said, MAYBE it blew out on its own, but judging by the lack of care they seemed to take on the rest of the car, it wouldn't surprise me that they accidentally hit it and just tried to forget about it and hope I wouldn't notice.
Overall, I would absolutely find somewhere else to get my future body work done. read more
