This is a pilgrimage I make almost every year at the end of September or in October. As such, the process is to park in the main lot, and walk through the section between Ulta Beauty and Larsen's Grill to the center court area, where Brighton is on the southeast corner. Along the way I couldn't help but notice that with Halloween approaching, the yearly display of Halloween inflatable decorations is back, along with some other touches of the season. After I finished my shopping, Dear Hubby and I sat out for a minute enjoying a gorgeous early fall late afternoon where the heat of the day was dissipating and the sky was filled with gorgeous clouds. The vista in the center court area was looking pretty sweet at that hour. Photos below. I'm aware that retail shops have struggled here. The restaurants seem to be holding their own, and the parking lot had quite a few cars in it for a Sunday at almost 5 PM. I'm rounding up from 3 1/2 stars to 4 because the grounds were clean, there was pleasant music playing from the outdoor speakers, and the decorations were up to promote the season. We still come her to shop at some favorite locations, like Brighton, Bath & Body Works, Marshalls and others, as well as the restaurants.

When I came, they were doing some pavement work near the Target parking area so a lot of the parking spots were closed off. We ate at Panda Express, while admiring the flowering trees outside their windows, and throughout much of the parking lot landscaping. I'm not sure what they are exactly, but the pink/white flowers definitely brightened up the overall property of the shopping center. After eating, I walked across to Famous Footwear and did a quick walk-through, and then on to TJ Maxx. It's great that those businesses were able to withstand Covid-19 and are still there for shoppers. Most of the major tenants are also intact after many years. There have been a few changes, mostly in the food court area near Kohl's. Carbon Health has gone in between TJ Maxx and Target as a new tenant. I believe that's an urgent care facility. The Marketplace appears to be a strong local shopping / dining plaza for Moorpark. Its location near the 23 freeway at L.A. Avenue makes for great convenience. Lots of free parking!

Not sure what was in that space before. Now if they find a replacement for Romano's Macaroni Grill, El Paseo Simi will be in really good shape as a local shopping / dining plaza. Still love their landscaping and water features. So many shopping centers these days seem to cheap out on design / décor items, so I like to celebrate those that keep it visually interesting. Due to the late / prolonged Spring season, there are scads of brightly blooming trumpet vines all over the accent columns along the perimeter of the property. They are visible to passers by on Tapo Canyon Road and Alamo Street. Though it was on the cool side, with the center's landscaping, it was very pleasant to sit outside to enjoy our pizza at The Slice House last night as the sun was slowly sinking in the west. I could hear one of the water features splashing away nearby, which added to the peace of the moment. I'm a fan of visiting the businesses in this plaza due to the attention to its design and landscaping/hardscaping décor.

Talk about absolute nonsense. It seems like the entire store has gone to self-checkout and even…read morethen you can't even find an employee. However, the real reason for my review is the store's policy of ordering online compared to in person shopping is absolutely absurd. I came into the store looking for baby formula as it says they have it available, and I can even pick it up in store if I wanted. However, when I get to the section it seems like other baby formula has spilled over and someone might have accidentally mistook the items as available inventory. Since it's behind a case, I have to call over an associate, which is an ordeal unto itself. I eventually get two different employees show up to come assist, but of course they don't have the item and it's falsely stating "available." I'm then advised by both employees that I should go upfront and order with the online shopping Walmart representative so they can grab the item from the back for me in the warehouse. So instead of one of the employees going back for me, they are essentially stating I need to order online and "Hope" the item is back there otherwise Walmart will refund me. After politely asking one of the employees, he did check in the back, but after several minutes stated they didn't have any. Luckily he did mark it OUT OF STOCK, but talk about a weird policy- ORDER ONLINE, but don't expect to pick up items in person. This is just another reason why I try to avoid Walmart stores.
