Great experience, good, safe service. The picnic boat is beautiful, comfy seating. We had 8 women which we fit comfortably, you could fit up to 12 people, but I'd imagine if it's all average sized adults, that could be a little too snug. Huckleberry, our boat dog, was an added plus and possibly the most gentle pup. Would do this experience again in a heartbeat. Highly recommend doing private if possible.

Aqua diving academy is a shop tucked off of commercial street in Portland with a smaller sized…read moreparking lot in front of the shop that is free (though plenty of parking on street). It looks small on the outside so I wasn't sure what to expect, but I tell ya this shop has TONS of awesome gear for its size! I needed a snorkel and new mask, with an older one and old fins I brought in to have them look at for an upcoming trip to Tahiti and found many to try on and compare. The sales person I had was great- he was patient, helped me analyze my fit and things to pay attention to and tricks to get a good seal for a good mask fit and pros/cons of different types. He also looked at the well used older fins I brought in and rather than say they looked like the needed to be replaced as I had thought, inspected them for dry rot etc to make sure the condition looked ok and said as long as I'm comfortable in them they should be fine rather than buying new. He looked at my snorkel and could see one of the seals was no longer working. I looked at new fins too just in case I needed a back up. Good selection of reef safe sunscreens and other accessories like waterproof bags, etc. I was most surprised by how many wetsuit options (full, shorty, etc) they offered, including thermal tops and bottoms, many of which could be also used for surfing and other sports and many were not highly priced like i thought I'd find at a dive shop. Obviously if you are a diver they have quite a bit of dive gear and I believe they offer education/pool/diver certification through them as well. Loved my mask and snorkel on the trip I took, snorkeling multiple times per day it was a major step up in performance and comfort from my US divers inexpensive one prior. All in all highly recommend this shop!

My friends and I just did a brew pub running tour with John and Melanie and had a great time! We…read moreall live in Portland, but we are always looking for new activities to do in the area, and this one definitely did not disappoint. The brew pub tour mixed two of our favorite activities-beer and running. I've never gone for a run through the downtown/Old Port area so it was great to have someone leading us who knew exactly where they were going, and knew enough about the alcohol/beer history to keep us entertained along the way. John also knows a lot about the breweries that are on the tour so it was great to hear information about the beers before we even got to the breweries. The route for the tour is set up perfectly, and John is great about staying at a pace that is comfortable for the group so we enjoyed ourselves (literally) every step of the way. Not only is the tour itself a ton of fun, but Melanie and John are very personable and a lot of fun to chat with. The breweries that we went to were Rising Tide, Urban Farm Fermentory, and Sebago. I had never been to Rising Tide or UFF and both tastings were very interesting and very delicious! As I mentioned above, John can tell you a lot about the beers and ciders from past experience and personal knowledge, and the brewery employees are very knowledgeable as well. They answered all of our questions and took the time to tell us what we wanted to know. Sebago was the last stop which was perfect; we got a snack, and got to sit and relax and try four different kinds of beer before heading back. John was our tasting guide at Sebago, and told us about each beer that we were trying which gave it a nice personal touch. I really can not say enough good things about this tour; we had such a great time! This is a great activity to do with family and friends, and a good way to shake up a normal brew pub tour. Not only did we get to experience a new part of Portland, but we got to sneak some exercise and fresh air into the experience (without it actually feeling like exercise)! In addition, if you decide to make a purchase along the way the brewery will hold on to your purchase so that you can come back after and pick it up. I would definitely love to do this again. They offer customized tours so we are thinking about doing a tour for a birthday party. I would highly recommend Port City Running Tours for anyone who lives in or is visiting Portland. You will get to experience some of the best of Portland; the scenery, beer, people, and history, all in one stop, and you will have so much fun while doing it.
