After my experience yesterday at your Portland location I will no longer be doing business or recommended you to anyone, I will probably let everyone know about my negative experience there. I stopped to get my tank filled Saturday August 12 around 11 am the woman started to asking me about my certification I very politely told her about my scuba education then offered her to see my card. She then went on to accuse my card of not being me but this is the same card she has accepted over 20 times. I then provide her with my driver's license to prove who I was. My hair is a little longer but the picture most definitely looks like me. I was just in the shop around the end of June to have the tanks vis and hydro she had no problem accepting my card then. After being treated with such disrespect and being giving such a hard I told her I was just thinking about taking my tanks and getting them filled elsewhere and this point she started yelling at me telling me to leave. I come from family of scuba diver and have been all over the world scuba diving been in many dive shops and I have never been treated so poorly I completely shocked and bothered how your employee treated me. I feel your employee owe me a personal appolgy it's almost like she was having a bad day and took it out on me it was the older lady with red hair

Paul worked me, my wife and son to make sure we were comfortable and safe. We did many pool dives to work on skills and then dives in the ocean for certification. My husband and I got our Open Water Certifications from them years ago (their on-site pool makes classes so convenient!), and more recently, our 12yo son completed his certification with Don and team. The instruction is top notch. All of the classes were 1:1 and tailored specifically to our needs and comfort level. We all came away incredibly confident divers, which is the best measure of success. Anytime we're on a trip, the dive master always comments on what a skilled diver my 12yo son is. I swell with pride every time I hear this and am so thankful for the great instruction he received, as it will help keep him safe in the water for years and years to come. As an added bonus, Don lets my son borrow equipment anytime we go away to ensure he's using the same equipment he trained in and therefore as comfortable & confident as possible. As soon as my son stops growing :-) we will buy our gear from Atlantic Aquasport. But until then, being able to borrow equipment has been a huge cost saver and convenience. My husband and I have purchased all of our gear from Don and couldn't be happier with the quality, selection, and support we get even after the sale. My regulator has a lifetime guarantee from Don. It had a problem Don couldn't fix (likely from years of being jostled around by baggage handlers across many airports) and Don replaced it free of charge, no questions asked. My most recent experience with Atlantic Aquasport was going on a Saturday morning dive with them to Nubble Point. Despite having logged 500+ dives, this was my first New England dive and I loved it! The crew let me borrow additional gear to ensure I'd be warm enough, conducted a thorough safety briefing, and guided me on a really fun dive that surpassed my expectations for what I'd see in New England waters. I've been diving for 15 years, having relocated to the…read moreNortheast from Florida with over 1,200 logged dives and interactions with dozens of dive shops. My main issue with Dive Winnipesaukee isn't selection or pricing--it's the staff. Diving Lake Winnipesaukee is cold, dark, has a short season, rough water, and not a lot to see. I spend my personal time on this, driving the boat of the car up to an hour just to get to this shop and another hour in four foot chop to reach a dive site on the opposite end of the lake. Between hauling heavy gear and long drives, the process is already a hassle. The staff could easily make the experience better and the day better, but instead, they make it worse. I've been here a few times. I walk in through the back door to the front counter and stand there while two teenagers focus on renting someone a canoe. Five minutes pass without a greeting, an acknowledgment, a basic "we'll be right with you " or even better a "you finish this while I help this person" (it doesn't take two people to rent a trampoline). Eventually I see someone in the back room, go to that employee, and politely ask to get a tank serviced and rent another one for the day. The transaction itself is purely clinical--exactly like walking into a doctor's office. I get handed a clipboard, fill it out, show my dive card, pay for the rental, get my receipt, and get sent on my way. When checking in my tank for a simple visual inspection, the staff member behind the counter asked for the date of manufacture on the tank. I mentioned I bought it brand new last year (meaning it's less than five years old), and she retorted, "Well, I need to check to make sure it doesn't need a hydrostatic inspection." Everyone in the dive community casually calls it a hydro. Using full the terminology just comes across as insecure (like you have to prove you know the full name) or it's pretentious. During a 15-minute rental process at any other dive shop I've ever been to, there's some basic small talk. Staff ask where you're diving today or talk about local sites, and you get to know the people. Here that isn't the case. The staff is generally unfriendly. I don't like going in there, I don't like interacting with them, and I'd rather avoid them entirely. My friend who knows them, said their problem is they're the only dive shop on the lake. He says competition demands exceptional service and customer loyalty where a monopoly does not. I agree. If another dive shop opened anywhere on Winnipesaukee, I would switch to them in a heartbeat, even if it were more expensive or further away.

The crew knows the areas where the whales feed, and when they see the spout or breach or any indication of whale activity, the boat can quickly go to them. You can't get that on a large whale watching boat packed with people. We were able to follow a pair of Humpback whales for an hour, and ended up seeing two additional ones on our tour.
