I have a 2012 Audi Q5 the codes read that it was running too rich. My car had trouble starting, a rough idle and a delay in acceleration. I called around to different locations and they said to take it to the dealer. Silverstar Automotive Solutions took my car did an inspection found out that I had some other issues that needed repaired fixed my problem and the most urgent repairs all within my budget. They found out I had an oil leak I thought my car was just burning oil. They showed me pictures of how bad my engine looked inside. They also performed a Walnut blasting which cleaned out the engine. Was told my backup camera was defective and I would need a replacement. It turned out the camera was fine the system needed a reset which took only minutes and the push of a button on the steering wheel. This was a camera system that this garage installed 2 years ago so I went to them with the confidence that they had the skills necessary to solve my problem. I bought a new camera and when this didn't fix the problem I contacted the supplier directly and was told about the reset. The garage charged me $390 for 2 hours they said they worked on it. I asked why they would accept the work if they no longer had a mechanic capable of fixing the problem. I pointed out that if was going to be charged almost #200 an hour then I should expect trained people. They refused to refund any of the amounts they charged when I asked. I no longer have any trust in this garage and will take my work elsewhere. read more

If I could rate it lower I would. Recently moved Ottawa West, but still had my trusted mechanic in my old neighbourhood. Went to this mechanic for oil changes as it was around the corner. Went to get my oil changed today and the man at the desk berated me for not getting my major repairs done there, berating me that they don't make money on oil changes and make money on big repairs. Was considering switching my business here as it was closer, even if I have a trusted mechanic 30 minutes away, but after the way I was treated today, I am glad I have a trusted mechanic elsewhere. Got a quote for 1500$ for brakes on April 4 or 5. I came in on May 21 and the job became urgent. Price jumped 400$. The attendent said the increase was 'maybe because à différent supplier'. My quote expired after 30 days, but the garage didn't show me any proof that the parts dubbled in price in 6 weeks. He also recommended an engine air filter, whoch I had changed already. When cornered on this he said 'we based that on the April inspe tion' despite the fact he insisted on redoing the free inspection. Glad at least they fit me in right away and did provide à shop loader for the day. loaner read more

As mentioned by other reviewers as a negative, I also took my car here for a repair that he would not do. My car was so rusted that it was structurally unsafe to keep driving and instead of taking our money he gave us the appraisal for free and did not do the work. This was even after lending us a courtesy car. I think this is actually very ethical and he is fulfilling his obligation to the public and keeping everyone safe on the road. read more

I recently brought my car into Silverstar Solutions to deal with a recurring check engine light issue. As anyone knows bringing your car to a new location for repairs can be a bit of an adventure. However, upon meeting the guys at the shop, I felt comfortable that they were genuinely concerned with the issue and would do a good job. I even gave them a high enough budget to work with, not something I normally do. In the end, not only did they resolve the issue but came in 50% under the budget I gave them (very honest). I will definitely, be bringing my car back to Silverstar for future repairs. read more

Horrible place to do business. My daughter went in for an oil change, and was told there were other things to be done. The owner refused to do the oil change because she said that her uncle could replace a lightbulb for her instead of him charging her $12.00. She was penalized for trying to save herself some money. She is on a tight budget so wherever she can save a few bucks, she does. In this day and age, we are all trying to survive. Not a good businessman. Save yourself the $24.99 and go elsewhere. You can't treat people like crap, and then expect your business to thrive. read more

I'm actually a former marine diesel mechanic and Pat (the owner) has never told me anything that didn't make sense or that I didn't already suspect was wrong with any of my vehicles. All repairs have been prompt and only what I needed. I have never been oversold anything or sold something I didn't need. Bought a Groupon for an oil change. Made an appointment and brought my car in. While waiting, just as the car was going in, the owner asked me if I had fixed my sway bar links yet. Note: this was my second time going there for an oil change. He uncovered the sway bar links issue during the first oil change. I told him that I had not and I buy my car parts separately and just pay for the labour to get them installed. At that point he said that he will not do my oil change because he is losing money on them ($10 to be exact) and the only reason he does the oil changes is to get people to do more expensive repairs later on. I told him that I will not do the sway bar links with him but can potentially do other repairs with him in the future (need to do my A/C) so at least to please honor the oil change as I was already there and my car was in the garage ready to go. He said he cannot risk it. Not a good way to do business in my humble opinion. read more
