I had attempted to change a stabilizer link on the driver's side of my car. I did my own mechanical rrepairs for over 20 years. Now with age and extra weight I couldn't get under my car like I used to. So I couldn't tighten the new link properly. It was knocking. I brought my car to Midas asking them to properly tighten the driver side stabilizer and install the new one on the passenger side. I had brought my own parts. I picked up my car and to my surprise they had charged me the use of an acetylene torch to remove the brand new stabilizer link I had already installed on the driver side. Then they replaced it with the new one I had provided for the passsenger side. So they're either a group of bumbling idiots who have cannot follow instructions or they're a bunch of thieves who had to come up with ways to make more money from the simple job my car required. This has to be the most dishonest business I've ever dealt with. I feel sorry for any clients they may have who would know very little about mechanica. read more

Being the man of "Second Chances" I decided to take my vehicle to Midas again. This second chance amounted to ever more bad customer service. I made an appointment for December5 2023 at 12 Pm to again get an oil change. Arrived at the Midas garage in Bells Corners only to be told my appointment was for a drop off time. Now having been around the sun more times than the two service advisers combined, I inquired as to why an appointment wasn't an appointment and having travelled quite a distance to get to my " appointment" I would like to know my wait time, only to be told this oil change could be a wait time of!!! well they wouldn't specify a time when my car would be serviced. Then the parting shot of the service adviser after my expressing I was leaving, " well I don't care". Maybe they will" I don't care" their way into a closure. On a positive note I left there and went to Mr Lube and Tires on Terry Fox drive to be treated with the utmost of respect , without an appointment I might add. read more

Went to Midas to get a muffler replaced. Told them I needed it to be a type that is offset so it can go through the aftermarket bumper I had on it. They put a regular one on and now I will have to change the bumper of the muffler. I specifically made sure they knew it had to fit and provided the piece to try it. At the end they tell me it wont fit and that's it. $500 wasted, will never use them again. Buyer beware! read more

Update - August 13, 2023: Vehicle went to this shop for exhaust work and sustained a STRETCHED TIMING CHAIN while there, which resulted in THOUSANDS of dollars of work at a competent shop (to which vehicle needed to be towed). Following Midas corporate's complaint procedure back in February 2023 has resulted in zero responses from either them or the shop owner. Vehicle has never been the same since this happened, and it had given us absolutely no trouble until it went to Midas. If you don't care about what happens to your vehicle, take your chances with Midas in Bells Corners. Otherwise, I would suggest avoiding them at all costs. read more

16-02-2023 My first phone call, a Chinese lady answered, without answering my questions she put me on hold and then she hang up. I called again a bit later, a guy answered, seem to be a mechanic, I did book an appointment with them for an oil change and gladly I asked if the filter was included in the price, he said he was not sure and he would need to check. My car is a Mitsubishi does not require a premium special filter, so it was very odd to not give a right away answer, for my peace of mind, since I am the customer right? The other thing, Midas advertises the oil change for $69.99 FULL SYNTHETIC OIL CHANGE which includes Oil and filter change, Midas Touch Courtesy Check. I did not tell him that I knew about the offer and I still asked about how much the oil change costs, his answer was 89.99$, without letting his customer know about this great deal that his company advertises. So the conclusion is that, you have 5 star reviews mostly on your google page, stick to that, so those 5 star align with the nature of the phone call I had, because it made me believe that your reviews have all been fabricated and manipulated, and I would not want to trust my vehicle whether is a Mitsubishi or a Maserati to such a company branch, even for as simple as an oil change process. I can't say that I do recommend them to others or not, because everyone thinks differently, but to me they are not honest, and they try to leave gaps within answering in order to have leverage and charge you surprisingly at the end of the process, when you would have no other choice but pay the bill and leave unhappy, and they wouldn't care because they got paid. Went in to get new summer tires put on my rims. Brakes had been squeaking pretty aggressively so asked them to check my pads for the wear and let me know if they needed to be changed. Was told my rear brakes were fine but my front ones needed to be changed (rotors as well) because the front left pad was at 10% and pin was scraping the rotor. was quoted 650 for this. the rotor looked fine and I knew that was over priced for brakes so went to CAPS and bought front and rear brake pads for $90 total and changed them myself. took the front brakes off and the pads on the front were at 40% pad left on both sides... my rears were at 20% pad left. Sort yourselves out and quit trying to overcharge on services that are not required. read more

May 7, 2021 I went to my 11:00am appointment at Midas, Bells Corners to have my winter tires removed and replaced with my summer tires at the cost of $49.00. About 15 minutes after arriving Randy, the mechanic, came out to inform me that all the lug nuts (20), needed to be replaced, due to rust. I was very hesitant. He said he informed me of the rusty lug nuts on December 4, 2020 when I was there to have the winter tires put on and said he had made a note of it on my file, at that time. I said I did not remember his saying that. He then, in a very condescending way, informed me "YOU SHOULD, IT'S YOUR VEHICLE". Randy had the cost of the lug nut job printed out on paper, and I asked to see it. The bill for replacing 20 lug nuts (which were already off because they were replacing my tires anyways) was going to be $258.00. I then told him that I did not want the lug nuts done. He became belligerent and told me that if I did not get them done I could not come back there. I said "fine, I still did NOT want the lug nuts done". Randy, then went back to the bay where my vehicle was and within 5 minutes had put the lug nuts back on and arranged to have my vehicle removed from the bay area. At that point I noticed that the winter tires were still on. I mentioned to the young man that drove my van out that the tires had NOT been switched. The young man replied "he told me not to" meaning Randy, the mechanic. Needless to say I was not amused, in fact I was angry. I am a woman in my older years, and I am thinking that perhaps he thought he could intimidate me into a $258.00 job...it did not work. Based on other negative reviews from other costumers this is not the first time Midas has tried this. Booked my suv in to have some welding done on oem exhaust. Went in 8 am Monday morning and they had trouble finding my appointment; it wasn't under my name or phone # . It was under vehicle name? In went my vehicle, 5 minutes later I was told they couldn't weld it and what it needed was a bunch of crap aftermarket parts. No thanks. Then I was charged $59 plus tax for them to tell me they can't weld!!!!!!! I can't really weld but I went home and did it anyway. $59 for 15 minutes is $236 per hour to do nothing ( good gig) . I'd hate to see the bill if they did something!!!!!!!! I'm so glad they sent me away. In the afternoon I went to an independent shop to book an alignment for my Mercedes; what a different experience. STAY AWAY FROM LOCATION AND GARAGE MANAGER RANDY MURRAY!!! Came in for a Safety inspection. I know the car will pass it as I do all maintenance when required on it. Bumper had a little crack. Randy Murray advises his mechanic to perform the safety inspection on it. His mechanic tells me later as I arguing the charges that he noticed the crack bumper initially. Instead of telling me straight out about the bumper and ask if I want to go ahead with the inspection, Randy decides to do the whole inspection and charges me $114 for it. But he fails the inspection saying that the bumper is a safety hazard. I go on block east, to another mechanic. He looks at the car, put it on the lift, attaches the cracked part and puts one strip of tape. Makes the safety inspection and passes the car with no issues. Want back to Midas and asked Randy Murray for a refund. He refused to admit his dishonesty and confronts me when I am speaking to his mechanic, telling me to leave as this is a private property. Made a complaint to Midas Headquarter site, and still waiting for a call back. My advise, stay away from this location. It is managers like this who give mechanics a bad rep. Funny thing is that on the Midas site for this location, they filter the reviews to only show positive reviews. Randy Murray's Service Top Notch This is a bit late but better late than never. I want management to know what a valuable employee they have in Randy. Randy knows what customer service means and knows how to build trust and confidence in the business. A few weeks ago I took my car in, a 2009 Nissan Rouge as I had a noise in the front end. I though it had to do with my muffler repair that was done here about a year ago. It was not however another issue was found and fixed. Prior to even looking at the car I told Randy that I didn't want to spend too much on the car as I was going to get rid of it. He said he would have it looked at to see if buying another car could be put off for a while yet. He came back and told me that there were a few important concerns that will need costly repairs in the not too distant future. It confirmed to me that it was time to get another vehicle. Randy did not have to provide me with this additional information but in doing so he has now made another customer who will be back for future needs. (My husband also has an older car) It was only because of his customer service, care and attention, that impressed me so greatly that I will be back as long as he is there. The bottom line to a business is very important but if the customer service isn't there (which is a hit and miss in this day and age) neither will the customers. I have taken the time and effort a couple of times in the past to post any comments about anything. A couple months ago I had brake work carried out on my RAM pickup truck. On completion of the work the service manager (Randy) advised me that a number of the wheel studs had been cross threaded. He offered to rethread the studs, free of charge, if I were to return with new lug nuts. It is worth noting that one day after I had the service completed that my right front hub cap came off while driving, and lost. A couple weeks ago I returned to the shop with new lug nuts to have the studs rethreaded (where needed) & have the new nuts installed. The vehicle was in the shop for little over 30 minutes when I was summoned by Randy to observe the left rear wheel studs. One had become completely stripped and unusable. Randy's solution was to go back to the dealer to have the stud replaced. When preparing to depart Randy advised that 1 hour of work had been completed on my vehicle but he would only charge me for 1/2 hour. I reminded him that a couple months ago he had offered to complete the service for free. He said he had to charge me despite his earlier offer. Rather than get in an argument I paid him the approximate $60. After my departure I started to reflex on my experience at this Midas garage: 1. I had wheel service conducted & lost a wheel disc shortly after, without any offer of compensation, 2. I had been offered free service, when in fact I was charged $60, and 3. After service at this garage I was required to go to a Dodge dealer to repair the damage done, an expensive service. With this in mind I called Randy the following day to display my displeasure. After much discussion he offered to reimburse the $60, if I were to return to his shop. I suggested that would be very inconvenient and asked to have the funds returned to me by a mailed cheque, to which he agreed. It has now been 2 weeks and there has not been a reimbursement cheque. It would be an understatement to state that "I am extremely displeased with the service at this Midas garage"; as such it has soured the brand in my eyes, and I have no intention to ever use their services in the future. read more

I have dealt with these guys 2 times now and both have been pretty good experiences consider it was always bad news . There rates seem to be in line with most shops but they are always eager to have you come back and see what is happening and what needs to be done . As a basic handy man I appreciate this as it allows me to gauge my ability to do what they are asking shop rates to do. They are more than willing to answer questions and have never seemed bothered by my inquisitions and venting in most cases. I'm hoping to use this shop as my go to shop in which case this will turn into a 4 star review. A 5 star review on a mechanic shop will be quite the feat! Fingers crossed. read more
