Last April, I made an appointment at Kal tire, I believe for 4:00 PM, to swap out my winter tires for summer tires. One of the attractions for using Kal tire, is that you can make reservations. Therefore, you don't have to wait around like in many other shops. At about 5:15, one of the service people came to me and said you may as well go home, and come back tomorrow morning. We won't have time to complete your car this afternoon because we're backed up. Sorry. Needless to say, it's disappointing when you make an appointment which cannot be fulfilled. It's worse than no appointment at all. So, I returned the next morning, and the work was completed - or so I thought. The following October, I decided to avoid Kal tire and return to ol' reliable Canadian Tire. I told them I wanted my summer tires off and the winter tires put on. They gave me a call about an hour later and said your winter tires are already on. In other words, I had been driving all summer on my winter tires. Kal tire had done nothing but charge me - including an alignment. I know it was an honest error. But I've never heard of anything like this before. And I used to work in a garage. I mean, for a place which mainly does just tires, it's rather serious. Anyway, I know mistakes happen, but it is something to consider. read more

The parts Kal Tire installs on your car are very low quality. Expect one half to one third of the life expectancy you got from your previous original OEM parts. The tires are an exception, because tires can't be manufactured in a backyard somewhere in China. But brakes, radiators, shocks ... can. read more

After calming down I spoke to the manager today and they are solving the problem for me to my satisfaction. I am glad I took the time and not acted like a complete lunatic making a scene, would not have helped at all! Let that be a lesson and you will be treated with respect. I have been a long time customer of Kal Tire Ottawa, I was one of their first time customers when they came to Ottawa when Bernie Pimm was the manager. Over the years they have performed very well however the last 2-3 years have been disastrous. Their customer service has deteriorated. It seems that every year when we do our tire change overs on both of our vehicles there are issues. Both of our vehicles go through tires as we put on many kilometres on both of our summer and winter tires. Over the years we have probably spent $8000-$10,000 on tires alone! It used to be if there was a problem they would go out of their way to fix the situation but now their attitude is "sorry there's nothing I can do" I'm done with Kal Tire, u would definitely NOT recommend Kal Tire Ottawa to anyone Thank you for treating a long time customer with the disrespect I DONT deserve I'm done with you! read more

Beware of Price Match Policy at this location. I brought in printed quote from a major local automotive dealership, to see what Kal Tire could offer.(8 tires for 2 new vehicles) Not only did they not even offer to match the price, but they informed me they were the sole supplier of the tires I was considering (Nokian), and now knowing where I had gotten my original quote, they would ensure that "that wouldn't happen". Don't meet their own price match policy, and will use questionable ethical practices to eliminate customers choices. PS. Based on your response here, and on other boards, you don't seem to understand that my issue isn't with the price matching itself, but with the resultant threat from your location to attempt to prevent my dealership from providing me with the product. Under the guise of requiring their quote, your salesperson then used that information and said they were going to ensure they wouldn't allow them to provide me with the product. If you fail to see any ethical issues in such when dealing with a customer, then I am at a loss as to how to convey any further. read more

I decided to try Kal Tire so I made an appointment to purchase and install 4 new light truck tires, a purchase of over $1200. I arrived 15 minutes early but my truck didn't get in until 45 minutes later. I then waited 2 1/2 hours until it was done. They offered no explanation for the delay, I just chalked it up to Covid, etc. A couple of days later, my "Check TPMS" light came on, so I called and they said that sometimes happens and to drive for another week and it will probably go off. A week later I went into Kal tire, explained the problem and said that I didn't want to wait so if they could book me an appointment at a time that they could provide quick service. I was given a 1pm appointment the next day. Again, I showed up 15 minutes earlier, and waited, and waited. After an hour, I asked them what's up? I saw two other vehicles enter the garage bays that arrived after I did. They said they'd get on it shortly......20 minutes later, I expressed my dissatisfaction that my vehicle was still not being looked at and I made an appointment specifically to not have to wait long. I told them to give me back my keys and I left again relaying my frustration and anger about their dealings with me. I then hooked up my scanner which told me that one tire sensor wasn't working. So I looked at each tire and noticed that my valve caps were not put back on and one of the tires had a new black rubber valve stem that didn't match the other steel ones on my rims for the TPMS sensor. I then realized that they must have broken the sensor and tried to figure out what to do without telling me. That's why I had to wait so long the first time. When I returned with the TPMS light issue, that's why the then gave me the run-around, made me wait hoping I'd go away. The only reason I tried Kal Tire was because they have free tire rotation and free tire repairs. I imagine that they make clients wait so long for this free service, that clients don't bother returning. I guess I'll have to pay for the damages they caused and bring it to another place. I can't afford to wait and wait for them to get their act together. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS ESTABLISHMENT. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND YOUR TIME AND GO ELSEWHERE. read more

Need tires and enjoy great service? Then go to Kal Tire. Every time I have gone to Kal Tire to get new tires or have my winter tires put on, I have always been treated with respect and courtesy. When I was looking for new tires, the guy who helped me offered me some choices and solid recommendations based upon my car and driving needs. I never got that type of support from other places where staff barely ask you any questions, point to a random set of tires, and tell you those will work for you. Kal Tire offer other services such as tire storage and basic car services like brakes, oil changes, and alignments. Kal Tire also offers free installation, rotations, and flat repairs. 2825 Sheffield Rd so I have a business and have several vehicles and have used this location before , however now they screwed me. One vehicle was a certain $ per tire for tire change over (had to be broken down off rims) and then my next vehicle in was more for same service. No explanation and we had an appointment for 9am and wasn't seen until 10am . This is a service vehicle hence the appointment ! Extremely Impressed with Kal Tire on Sheffield Road. I had a flat tire changed to the donut by roadside assistance. I called Kal Tire and they took me in on a busy Saturday afternoon without appointment. They tested my flat, found no leaks or punctures and put it back on my vehicle all within an hour. Then they didn't charge me for that! They.Did.Not.Charge.Me! Where else can you get that service? When I need tires, I will definitely buy from Kal Tire! read more

I have been using Kal Tire Ottawa for a number of years. Tire service is great but they are also fair and honest with mechanical repairs and pricing. I sent my son there and he had a similar good experience. Most recently repaired my wife's Honda Fit. Needed new break roters in front but they were able to save the pads as they were not badly worn and thus saved me a few dollars.
