Always order your concessions through the app for delivery to your seat. Waiting in line for concessions is a rookie move for chumps. Make sure to use the free rewards program if you go often. Parking is a cluster-F lately, if there's a big release out make sure to arrive early because you could be circling for 30 minutes. On to the updated review. I do love this theater and it's to great that they are back open after the flooding that occurred in the area of June 2025. The Theater is back open with a lot of new carpet and updates since the flooding occurred. I go to a lot of movies so I've fallen off going to Silverspot as much as I used to since AMC's A-List pass financially makes more sense for me, and AMC's parking is so much better, which brings me to the primary issue with Silverspot lately. Their parking is absolutely abysmal. Silverspot shares a lot with all the other restaurants at University Mall and parking is an absolute poop-show. While I love ordering my popcorn and drink for delivery to my seat, often times you'll spend 30 minutes circling for parking that you miss your order being delivered to your seat so once you are seated you have to get up and go to the concession counter and track down your order and hopefully you don't miss the beginning of the flick. I get it, the parking lot is a problem caused by the mall owners, not Silverpsot as a theater or company but given the load of trailers and advertisements most people know to roll into a movie 20 minutes late, but having to plan ahead of time that parking might be an absolute battle stinks. As a movie theater Silverspot continues to have a great selection of movies week-after-week. Their popcorn is some of the best in the area along with their fountain drinks that are calibrated to perfection most of the time. I honestly get tired of the Freestyle machines and just want to be served a diet coke sometimes. I do wish they would have a paid rewards program like AMC A-List for people that come to a lot of movies often. Their free rewards program is nice but the A-List pass is such a better value if you go multiple times a week. Shout-out to Maria who takes the tickets, she rules along with William who works in concessions, he also rules. Give those people a raise. I still love this theater, a full star deduction for the ongoing mess that is the parking situation, but as it stands its still one of the best theaters in the area. read more

At AMC Southpoint you have the whole mall to park at, and they're not cramming random apartments in the parking lot, so I'd recommend going there. read more

There aren't a lot of movie theatre options in Durham anymore, so this is often my go-to as it's about as far as Southpoint and much nicer. It is clean, staff is friendly, and the seats are comfy. The parking lot can be a challenge though, especially on the weekends (Bar Taco is next door which is a great alternative to eating at the movies). I usually order my tickets through the app, but either way it is reserved seating. The highlight is that you can order through the app and the food will be brought to you. The downside is that the food and drinks are overpriced and not great quality. Alamo Drafthouse has similar prices but the food is a lot fancier and better quality. But, that's the price for getting food delivered to your seat these days. Overall, it's a very nice theatre and if you go on Tuesdays it's just $6.50 (it used to be $5)! read more

I came on a day that was the cheaper tickets in order to save some money and obviously the concessions were expensive. Unfortunately when we were trying to buy concessions, only one guy was working hard and the others were just standing around re-organizing Candy instead of opening a second register. I can't remember the name that helped us, but he hooked us up with a ton of butter for a popcorn, he was a taller dude and was really nice. I also really don't like that people are allowed to have food delivered to them in their seats, considering the employee has to block the view of the screen to walk to them. I probably won't come back to the theater and prefer another. The seats are pretty comfortable though, lots of space. read more

This is an expansive cinema tucked behind 15- 501 Durham NC offering several movie choices. I went to see Xinga Turtle with family but was overcome by blistering heat to get inside.I must say the staff & manager were exceptionally kind & caring.The young lady bought a ginger ale to me & the the guy -the manager was so kind. I know I frightened them As well as my family. The young lady was going to try to wheel chair. This is exceptional customer service.From what I saw- this is a pristine cinema well thought of and planned but it's a lot of walking - I look forward to coming again when the weather is cooler. read more

We are very disappointed by our recent interaction... or lack there of, with SilverSpot. Last minute we were unable to attend the showing we bought tickets for. Everything on the site communicated the ability to pursue an exchange. I have called SilverSpot multiple times, submitted multiple contact forms, and sent emails to different emails that have bounced me around and received no response. Typically I would experience 1 or 2 minor mishaps at movie theatres, but today's experience was terrible. For the matinee, tickets were steep. The seats and tables were dirty. You see a lot of signs about ordering through the app. And due to the long lines, we thought we try it. Our orders took forever, so I thought I messed up and ordered at a different location. Our cocktails didn't arrive until like 45 minutes into the movie. And for popcorn, it never came. So, my boyfriend went outside and got a hold of someone. Arrived on time excited to see my film, tickets purchased online. Subjected to 30 minutes of trailers and advertisements before the movie even started. Ate some of the overly salty food I'd ordered, none of the condiments I asked for arrived. After about 25 minutes of the movie my ears were ringing from an overly harsh extremely loud theater. I walked to the lobby and requested the manager, I asked for a refund saying my ears were hurting from the volume. He wandered off, after waiting five minutes, he never returned! The excessive sound and incompetence of the manager ruined the film and my whole evening. Movie theaters are already struggling and this place fumbled again. Now I'll never return! read more

I came here yesterday. Placed an order from my seat several times, only to get an error message each time. My friend finally had to go to the lobby to buy the items in person, and ended up missing the first 15 minutes of the movie as a result. Imagine my surprise today when I discovered that I had been charged at least twice so far (I'm skeptical that more charges won't show up), with my credit card showing almost $100 in money spent at this theater for items I never received. I called to get a refund and was told by a nice worker they could only refund me for the items, not the extensive tax and tip I also paid, because "it's a different system." I then escalated to the manager, Jason, and he confirmed this. No apology from him (several from the nice worker), no further explanation, no attempt to help me figure it out, no effort to provide me with a gift card to make up the difference. Not sure how any of this is legal. But still, I told the manager to refund me for the items and I would dispute the difference with my credit card company. (Good thing I didn't use my debit card!) He said fine, then hung up on me. I had to call back to talk to the nice worker again to actually get helped. And the amount ultimately refunded was only **70 percent** of what I spent. This theater will never get another penny of my money, and I'll tell everyone I know to avoid it. read more

Came on a Friday early evening for two adults and bought our tickets online. The entire process is easy, but honestly, no one checked for our tickets. The place seemed poorly kept during a busy night. Our seats still had stains and bits of trash from the previous screening. Ordered a bucket of popcorn and pretzel bites with two sauces. The pretzel bites were sadly not to standard and my order wasn't correct, so I had to walk out during the movie to correct it. Overall, the leather seats could be better cleaned and sanitized for the next screening and the bathrooms were not well kept. It seems they were understaffed but operating at maximum capacity, which backed up the lines and we ended up with a poor experience for a costly price. read more

I came out yesterday to enjoy wicked with my niece Zoelle and we were very very disappointed. We ordered an extra large popcorn to share and when we received the order we got an extra large bucket of miso soup! We HATE miso soup. I asked for them to fix my order and they refused! They claimed it's what I asked for but it is most certainly not what I asked for, I didn't even know they had miso soup! Why would they? The movie was fantabulous and my niece adored it as did I (Lea Michele was truly spectacular in this film), but the pungent fumes of miso soup wafting through the theater ruined our experience and gave Zoelle nightmares. read more

We've been going to Silverspot from time to time since it opened. On the plus side, the screens and sound are very good in all the theaters, and the place, especially the bathrooms, always seem clean and well-maintained. The seats are modern and very comfortable. Prices for tickets are steep but not out of line with most big-chain cinemas. However, over the past year, they've started harassing guests as they enter, demanding to search bags and confiscating water bottles and candy. It looks and feels like a TSA entry point, not a welcoming entrance to the theater. There's even a table now behind the ticket spot where there are tons of confiscated snacks and drinks. It looks ridiculous. While I understand that, officially, they don't want people bringing in outside food and drink, this approach is excessive and insulting. I've been going to movies all my life and never had someone demand to search a bag and do so aggressively, poking around and removing items to look for contraband. If Silverspot doesn't want occasional people bringing in their own drinks and treats, don't charge $5 for a $1 box of candy or $4 for a bottle of water. I recently brought my family of four in to see a film, and with tickets and fees it was nearly $70 to walk to the door. And after that, they hassled my wife for having a seltzer can in her purse? It didn't make us buy a drink from concessions; it just made us less likely to return as customers. What does Silverspot gain with this approach? There are other, better places to see movies in the Triangle where you won't be treated poorly. read more

I had a very interesting experience at this movie cinema. It was my first time there, and something rare happened. We were watching the movie when the audio cut off halfway through. Someone had to go tell the movie theatre folks. I had never experienced anything like that at a movie theater before. The electricity didn't die, the sound just stopped completely. I'm not sure what caused it, but it was very frustrating. I don't think I'll be returning to that theater anytime soon. read more

I do prefer AMC because of my A List pass BUT what keeps me coming here from time to time is the PRETZEL BITES WITH THE BEER CHEESE. Are they overpriced? Yes. But so is everything at the theater. I ordered my movie ticket online the same day so I could get a seat next to my friend who had already gotten tickets earlier. I like how easy it is to order tix online. When I checked seat availability, there were only a handful that were already taken. I thought it would have been more packed for the opening night of Avatar. The seats are big but don't recline. It got very warm in the room, which is unusual to me since I'm usually freezing in movie theaters. I was literally sweating! I would say wear layers so you can take off layers if it's too hot. I would much prefer it to be on the colder side as I can bring a jacket and bundle up. I ordered popcorn and a cocktail. They just need to scan your ticket if you want food/drinks delivered to your seat. I thought that was a nice perk so you don't have to carry everything. Movie theater popcorn is always good. The raspberry lemon drop was such a cute cocktail but could have used more vodka. We ordered a 2nd round of drinks at 11pm. 45 minutes later, no drinks had come. After waiting for an hour, my friend went to the concessions to check on it but there was literally no one out there. After the movie ended, there was no one out front but we were able to flag down a janitor and ask to speak to a manager. When the manager came downstairs, I asked if there was a cut off for service and he said 30 minutes after the last movie time starts. Our movie started at 10:10pm which means cut off was 10:40pm. It would have been helpful if the employee that had taken our order had mentioned that to us or if they had a sign at the concessions. Also, they should have their system prevent orders from going through on the app/website. The manager mentioned that their system essentially cuts off automatically so they can't see orders coming through. Well if that's the case, the ordering should also be cut off automatically. He also stated that because our movie ran into the next day, he couldn't pull up the order in the system so he had to manually refund my friend from checking her electronic receipt. I also checked the website and in the FAQ section, it actually states service is available through the first hour of the movie. I'm betting this probably happens a lot which is why I'm surprised their system doesn't prevent orders from going through if they stop service at a certain time. So FYI, if you go to the last showing time, make sure you order everything you want before heading to your seat. This would not be my first choice for a movie theater in the triangle. read more

This is probably the fanciest movie theater I have been to. There is a bar, restaurant, plush spacious seating and great service. When we arrived, we went to a concierge-like desk and reserved our seats. I thought we may have to crawl over people like in a traditional theater yet there is so much space that you don't have to worry about the seats in the middle section. You then go find your reserved seat and enjoy the movie. There is a fill bar to order drinks and also restaurant. I believe Tuesday there are specials on matinee showings. I will definitely be back and highly recommend when at University mall. read more

I have been soooo excited to see The Little Mermaid but my experience at this theater definitely fell short. We got there about 25 minutes early, scanned a bar code to try and order our food while sitting in our theater. We were a party of 4, 3 adults and one child, all in need of dinner. The two of us ordering food had horrible experiences with their website and were unable to order our food and had to go wait out in line and actually missed the start of the movie-I was very much disappointed! The guy that cashed us out was kind enough to waive the cost of one of the sodas we ordered though. While myself and one friend waited in line our third friend was able to place her food order and it was already delivered to her seat in the theatre before we got back there from waiting in line. The website not working was definitely frustrating but we both had different error messages which I found odd. We ordered burgers and it took them a whole hour before they we delivered to us in our movie, and the toppings on my burger were not accurate. I was also bummed that our chairs didn't recline. I expected a much better movie theater and customer service experience. I will rethink returning to this location in the future. read more

Not every movie is a masterpiece, but even The Godfather doesn't seem like a masterpiece when you're in a bad seat, or watching on a laptop. They've designed the theaters at Silverspot to be very comfortable, with big seats, lots of leg room, craft beer, and even dinner from a restaurant. I haven't eaten there($$$), but it looks nice, and my friend says the fish tacos are "an offer you can't refuse"... Tickets ARE expensive, but even if you're only there for the movie it is worth the price of admission. Spent $100 food took an hour and 17 mins. I tried to resolve this through the "Contact Us" link and also filled out a survey. I got no response. My 2 kids & I entered our orders into the SilverSpot app & kept getting an error message at checkout. The movie started at 3:30pm as I walked out to tell a man at the counter. He offered no explanation for the error & asked me to read out my order. He scanned my seat ticket, gave me my CC receipt, & gave me my 3 drinks at 3:35pm. The receipt was not itemized, it only showed my total, which is a problem. How do I know if my order is correct? At 4:30, we still had no food, so I went back to the counter & was offered no explanation other than, "I don't know what happened" & they would redo the order. I asked for my daughters skittles & the lady said she was going to find a manager. I saw her talking to a man in plain clothing who I later saw behind the counter so I'm assuming he was the manager. The lady never returned & manager never talked to me. I have now been standing, waiting for about 10 mins, missing the movie. I eventually found the lady & asked if a manager was going to talk to me & she said go have a seat & we will bring you your food. We finally got our food at 4:52pm. They did not bring my ranch, which comes with chicken tenders, & did not bring my honey mustard, only ketchup. For your records, the movie was Bad Boys: Ride or Die on 6/14/24 at 3:15pm in Chapel Hill, NC, Theater 8, row C seats 6-8. We were charged $52.53 for our tickets & $46.16 plus $2 tip for our food. This is after I used our Reward Credits to bring the total down. I have credit card receipts & the paper they put on the food bag as proof if needed. read more

Supremely comfortable, upscale moviegoing experience located inside University Place Mall. While I didn't sample any of the menu, from what I've seen you can do a full lunch or dinner while watching your movie, including drinks. Seating consists of wide, well-padded, and very comfortable seats, each having a fold-down tray -- I honestly felt as comfortable as if I were in my own living room. I also went during the afternoon hours and nearly had the entire theater to myself (you can also reserve your seats at purchase time). Silverspot might be pricier than the average cinema, but the premium is well worth it in my opinion, especially if you only go to the movies once in a while. read more

I used to consider Silverspot Cinema an upscale theater experience, but it is no longer so and I will never go back. I ordered a beer on the app, and it was never delivered to my seat. The lobby is filthy and covered with popcorn and garbage on the floor, on the benches and on the countertops. The bathrooms are gross, and all of the trash cans are overflowing. There is no soap or paper towels in the dispensers in the bathrooms. The seats in the theaters are covered in popcorn. The floors of the theaters are sticky. I know everyone's crazy about this new theater and I was hoping to be too, but unfortunately I found the seats very uncomfortable which really was a distraction from really getting into the movie. Yes it's super clean, the employees are very friendly, and the sound is good, but if you're under 5'7" the seats are just not comfortable. I felt like I was sliding down in it constantly so was in a somewhat slouched position much of the time and my back ended up hurting. I much prefer theaters with recliners for comfort. I didn't get anything from the restaurant, but there's a huge variety of snacks at the concession bar. Unfortunately they're so high priced I skipped that too. read more

A year later, and it's my choice of theater in the Durham/Chapel Hill area. You can pick and reserve your seats ahead of time, and you can order food from your seats on your phone app, and they deliver your food to your seat -- what more do I need to say? There's nothing worse than needing to rush to a movie or get there early and try to find optimal seats for you and your friends while also trying to get popcorn and drinks, and Silverspot solves those two issues perfectly. The seats are also very spacious with your own arm rests on both sides, so you never have to passive aggressively nudge a neighbor who is hogging two arm rests. Things to note: - Compared to other theaters, the movie tickets are a bit more expensive. - Do leave a little bit of time for parking, especially if you're coming at a popular time. - Check out the Trilogy happy hour specials -- on one of the days, you can buy $1 prosecco (or $5 for a whole bottle) and just bring it into the theater with you! - The food menu is actually decently priced; just check it out before you get there. read more

Wow this theatre is awesome! I mean, upscale, big, relaxing, bottles of voss, beers, good popcorn, big comfy seats. Being from New York, we don't get treated like this, we pay about the same sometimes but certainly don't get rewarded this way, no beer for movies in NY, no medium sized popcorn being bigger than my head, no immaculate bathrooms, and certainly no spotlessly clean halls and theaters or friendly employees. Couldnt ask for much more except to lower hefty ticket prices but then again, there was no one in the place, they ran the movie for my girlfriend and I along with one other couple in the entire theatre. Reserved seats if it gets busy that's a good feature, the first row of the theatre has love seats for you and your loved one but be warned, it's too close, your neck will hurt!
