Review updated since the summer flood of 2025…read more Pro tips: The restrooms downstairs are the ones to avoid, always use the upstairs bathrooms especially for those #2s. Always order your concessions through the app for delivery to your seat. Waiting in line for concessions is a rookie move for chumps. Make sure to use the free rewards program if you go often. Parking is a cluster-F lately, if there's a big release out make sure to arrive early because you could be circling for 30 minutes. On to the updated review. I do love this theater and it's to great that they are back open after the flooding that occurred in the area of June 2025. The Theater is back open with a lot of new carpet and updates since the flooding occurred. I go to a lot of movies so I've fallen off going to Silverspot as much as I used to since AMC's A-List pass financially makes more sense for me, and AMC's parking is so much better, which brings me to the primary issue with Silverspot lately. Their parking is absolutely abysmal. Silverspot shares a lot with all the other restaurants at University Mall and parking is an absolute poop-show. While I love ordering my popcorn and drink for delivery to my seat, often times you'll spend 30 minutes circling for parking that you miss your order being delivered to your seat so once you are seated you have to get up and go to the concession counter and track down your order and hopefully you don't miss the beginning of the flick. I get it, the parking lot is a problem caused by the mall owners, not Silverpsot as a theater or company but given the load of trailers and advertisements most people know to roll into a movie 20 minutes late, but having to plan ahead of time that parking might be an absolute battle stinks. As a movie theater Silverspot continues to have a great selection of movies week-after-week. Their popcorn is some of the best in the area along with their fountain drinks that are calibrated to perfection most of the time. I honestly get tired of the Freestyle machines and just want to be served a diet coke sometimes. I do wish they would have a paid rewards program like AMC A-List for people that come to a lot of movies often. Their free rewards program is nice but the A-List pass is such a better value if you go multiple times a week. Shout-out to Maria who takes the tickets, she rules along with William who works in concessions, he also rules. Give those people a raise. I still love this theater, a full star deduction for the ongoing mess that is the parking situation, but as it stands its still one of the best theaters in the area.

Honestly we stopped coming here because of the parking situation. Not Silverspot's fault at all,…read morebut I felt the need to warn the good people of yelp. At AMC Southpoint you have the whole mall to park at, and they're not cramming random apartments in the parking lot, so I'd recommend going there.

You should know, going to see a show at Full Frame is rather difficult to do during the year. The building itself, which houses offices on the top floors, an impressive boiler room and a LOVELY art gallery next door {Power Plant Gallery} is open to the public during the day for typical office hours. It IS WORTH IT just to stop in during the day, because the building is AMAZING! Truly one of the MOST spectacular sites to see in Durham, this old power plant has been converted into a fully functioning theater, venue and office space. Besides its use of the theater for special events, it also houses the Full Frame Film Festival offices [a WONDERFUL annual international event dedicated to the theatrical exhibition of nonfiction cinema. The festival takes place from morning to midnight every April, showing 100's! of films, discussions, panels and brings in people from all over the world to experience Durham hospitality at its finest!]. But Full Frame Theater is MUCH MORE then just the film festival, they show FREE documentary screenings May through November, although typically only once a month on Durham's Third Friday Art Walk. Tickets are free, but you must reserve a ticket the morning of, beginning at 9am. The theater itself is a DREAM. State-of-the-art projectors, HD resolution, surround sound, comfy seating: amazing, amazing, AMAZING! When you think of a refurbished power plant theater, you might think: OLD fashioned, restored, not great quality BUT lovely space. Well, Full Frame is not only an amazing building with lots of history BUT a great theater as well! You walk through the front door of the theater, and immediately are located in the old BOILER Room of the power plant: hard to describe because it's just so impressive, but think brick exterior, massive windows, polished concrete floors; contemporary while in a historical setting. This building has been standing since the 1930's and should be celebrated along with its partner and Durham icon: the Lucky Strike Smokestack and Lucky Strike Water Tower! I went to see Muscadine Bloodline at the Carolina Theatre and honestly, I can't recommend this…read morevenue enough! If you love live music but aren't a fan of huge crowds and overpriced everything, this theater is a total gem. First off, the vibe here is just cool and intimate. It's one of those places where, even if you're sitting a bit farther back, you still feel close to the action. The acoustics were great, every note and every lyric was super clear, which really made the performance feel special. Muscadine Bloodline killed it, by the way! One thing I really appreciated: the whole experience felt easy and relaxed. Getting there was a breeze and there's a parking garage directly across the street, so no crazy searches for a spot or long walks in the cold/rain/heat. You can literally be inside the theater within minutes of parking. Inside, the concessions were surprisingly reasonable. I was bracing myself to pay $20 for a beer like most venues, but nope, drinks and snacks were actually affordable. It's a little thing, but it made the night even better. Being able to sit for the show was also huge for me. The seats were comfortable, with a good view from just about anywhere. I loved not having to stand the whole time or jockey for space. It's honestly the perfect size, big enough for a killer crowd atmosphere, but small enough that it's not overwhelming. All in all, the Carolina Theatre just nails it for live shows. Great music, chill atmosphere, reasonable prices, and zero hassle. Can't wait to catch another concert here!

It's historic so it's hard not to love…read more I saw the movie hundreds of beavers here and what a wild ride. While I love that movie, and generally the shared reaction from the crowd is what I love about the movie going experience, these people laughed WAY too hard at bits that had already been done a bunch throughout the movie. I think it was because they really wanted to have a good time, so they laughed harder than was warranted. That isn't the worst crime but just to give you an idea of the people who I assume frequent this establishment. Mhm: -old -pretty -weird stuff to see -solid move going experience Mm-Mm: -the shallowest steps I may have ever encountered inside the actual theatre (where it's dark) -I remember the concessions being kinda disappointing but nothing in particular -overzealous crowd -atrocious parking
