Chatham County Line
Jim K.

Loved seeing Raleigh's Chatham County Line at the Rialto. What a great conversion from an old movie theater to a live performance space. While we had terrific seats up front, I seriously doubt there's a bad seat in the house. The Rialto offers beer, wine, and mixed drinks at several bars. Old black and white episodes of the Lone Ranger played on the screen before the performance and during the break which added a cool nostalgic vibe to the evening. The only knock on the Rialto are the very limited restrooms. Expand these a bit and get that coveted fifth star! Keep em Rocking Rialto!

When it comes to movie theaters, there's nothing like stadium seating and humongous cup-holders but every now and then, old-school is the way to go. Take the Rialto at Five Points for example. Crappy and beat-up front awning, goofy plastic tile letters displaying the current movie but it's still perfect for a throw-back experience. The Rialto is not the place to go watch Harry Dark Knight Potter Part IV in Hyper-Dolby Surround Sound. It's a theater to go watch small, artistic independent movies, like The Artist. Not everybody's cup of tea but oh well! Pay yo money at the small ticket box office, pop inside the small foyer for a cocktail or snack and it's time to sit back and relax. Beer was a reasonable $3.50 a bottle and apparently you can get an entire bottle of wine (score!). The theater itself is clean and recently renovated with a slightly taupe and tan, retro-feel to the space. Two large art-deco lights on the ceiling provide the interior lighting and the screen sits atop a small raised stage. The sound is decent but won't blow you out of the water like IMAX or Carmike 15. No big deal given the type of movies shown at the Rialto. Overall it's a solid movie-watching experience, definitely a step up from its sister theater, the Colony. With its convenient location you've also got some good dining and bar options within a couple of blocks. Just don't forget, it's cash-only here and parking can be tricky in this hood. But it's worth the extra effort, if you're in the mood for a movie that makes you think a bit. The Rialto is the perfect setting for a couple of hours of classy cinematic entertainment...

The Rialto is located in Raleigh's 5 Points, and is an awesome place to see independent films. The theater has two screens, and usually only has films that have only had a pretty small release. The theater serves beer (always a plus) and is an old style theater which means you're not going to get the multiplex experience, but you definitely don't need it for the types of things they show here. Friday nights they also always show the Rocky Horror Picture Show. There are tons of "regulars" to the show who come dressed up and interact with the movie

Well here is my opinion. 1) You can bring your own snacks, popcorn, drinks, Bojangles, or Wendy's and they are not going to kick you out. 2) They sell concessions dirt cheap. You are actually willing to buy stuff. You can get a drink and popcorn for under $3. Doesn't that beat a $12.50 combo at other theaters. 3) The ticket price. $2.50 for non students, and $1.50 for students. I am not sure if that price is just for NCSU students, or all students. 4) If the above mentioned price is too much, then check the website. They show entire series of films for FREE. If they show a never been released advanced screening of a movie, it will always be free. And many times they will have the director, actor or somebody from the film there. Zach Galifianakis showed up for one of his screenings, after all he did go to NCSU. 5) You can take your kids to the movies there for all of the family friendly movies. 6) All the movies are free during the summer. You know where I will be. Grab a pillow and blanket, head to NCSU and get comfy for your movie. Really, I have seen people walk into the theater with pillows before. I check out their schedule at least once a week, since they do add stuff at the last minute some times. If I am in the area, I will walk in, and check their table in the front lobby. They often place free goodies and promotional items on it. Even free passes to other movies will be placed on the table, so it is worth checking out.

March 17, 2026; 3 Stars Rating…read more I visited this establishment as part of a birthday celebration for my cousin. We typically come here for celebrations. We were eager to come because of the changes made to their seating and menu. The changes to the seats were OK but not comprehensive. Only some chairs had the uplift, but it wasn't the full chair. It was just the portion of the chair that you sit on. The menu didn't change. They simply added a few things to the menu. I was excited to try them. I ordered a couple new items. I didn't enjoy the fried tomato; it was rubbery and not moist on the inside like I am used to having at other restaurants. I also didn't enjoy the bread pudding. It had a nice flavor, but it was too hard and crusty. The portion sizes were smaller than previously. I rated it a three star because it was OK, and we enjoyed our time together, but there is still work to be done to bring it up to the luxury standard for which we've all gotten used to. November 28, 2023; 2 Star Rating I visited this luxury movie and dinner location on November 29, 2023. I went after work to see The Marvels. I enjoy going to CineBistro. It's a wonderful experience and a comfort and convenience to have food while watching the movie. The seats are in dire need of repair or a covering. There are also some general areas that would benefit from some modernization/renovation. The service is always great, and I appreciate the variety of entrées and desserts available. It would be good if the menu could be more consistently/periodically updated especially for someone like me who visits Cinebistro quite often. The reason for my rating of 2 stars is because the heating system isn't working in some theaters. The theater that I watched my movie in yesterday was one of those theaters without heat. I was freezing while eating and watching the movie. If I did not have my coat, I would not have been able to endure the coldness for the entire movie. Although it was not unbearable because I was wearing my coat, it was very cold and not comfortable. A manager did come to see me and acknowledged the freezing conditions to see if I wanted him to give me a free ticket to return another day when the heat was working, but I opted to stay and continue to watch the movie because I had driven 40 minutes to go out there, waited very long to see this movie, and my schedule is pretty busy so I would not have had another opportunity to watch it before Cinebistro no longer carried it. Perhaps a better substitute to a free ticket would have been if he offered to pay for my meal because of the non optimal conditions that I was placed in. Other than the freezing condition in the theater, I enjoyed watching the movie and eating my tuna poke bowl and pumpkin bread pudding. February 17, 2023; 4 Star Rating My nephew, one of my friends, and I went to see the new Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania movie at CinéBistro Waverly Place today. My nephew was new to that type of movie experience, so we decided to expose him to it. The cashier was very professional, and very helpful in helping me sign up for their new rewards program. As we got seated and comfortable in our luxury reclining seats in the theater, a server came, brought the menus, and took our orders. We each ordered a salmon and shrimp entrée, popcorn, cheesecake, a few mixed drinks, and water. Our drinks were served within 5 minutes, and our food came out within 10 to 15 minutes. Everything was plated nicely, and our drinks were as expected. The dinner portions were okay. The salmon was moist and the shrimp was cooked well. The dish tasted good, but could have used a little more seasoning. It was a little bland. The cheesecake was flavorful but could have been a little larger for the price. The luxury seats were comfortable and relaxing. They were spacious as well, which helped to provide a great movie experience. I always enjoy visiting the CinéBistro at Waverly Place. It's always a good experience, but it is pricey so expect to pay a lot for this experience.

Last week, I brought my 5-year-old son to see The Super Mario Bros. Movie. He is on the autism spectrum and was doing what, for him, is actually amazing engaging with the movie, enjoying himself, and yes, clapping intermittently out of excitement. Anyone who parents a child with autism knows moments like that are victories. Unfortunately, someone in the theater complained. As a parent, that moment can feel isolating and disheartening, especially in a theater full of children watching a kid's movie. But what happened next completely changed the experience. Two managers, Brittany and Layla, approached us with kindness, patience, and genuine compassion. Instead of making us feel uncomfortable or unwelcome, they supported us. They offered to move us to another area of the theater to make things easier, and they went above and beyond by giving my son additional snacks and water so he could stay regulated and continue enjoying the movie. Their approach was not just professional, it was deeply human. We are longtime Regal members, and this experience reminded me why. Inclusion is not just a word, it's action. Brittany and Layla demonstrated what it looks like to create a space where all families, including those with neurodiverse children, feel seen, respected, and welcomed. Because of them, what could have been a painful experience turned into a meaningful one that I will not forget. Thank you, Regal, for having staff who lead with empathy. And a special thank you to Brittany and Layla, you made a difference for my son and for me.
