One of my favorite things about this theater is that it's more than just somewhere to watch a movie. You can order food and drinks right from your seat, but I also love all the nostalgia throughout the theater. Between the arcade games, old movies, music and little throwback details, there's always something to look at or talk about. They also have a sit-in area where you can grab something to eat, hang out and actually connect with other people before or after your movie. It gives the whole place more of a social atmosphere instead of everyone just watching a movie and immediately leaving. Such a fun experience, and The Devil Wears Prada 2 was the perfect movie for it. Alamo continues to be one of my favorite theaters!

The food is good. But I've been several times and each time my entree has taken an unnecessarily long amount of time to get to me. I place my order at the beginning, and multiple times I haven't gotten it until midway or close to the end of the movie. If their service could improve, this place would be a 5 star.

The menu looked good and we will try it next time. The cocktails were basic, the beer a good pour, the prices were concession prices. Be aware that there is a 19% gratuity added to all checks. On top of that, my husband ordered coffee and it was never brought to the table. I eventually had to get up and go get it myself. When we finally had the coffee, we were also given powdered sweetener instead of regular sugar. The food was decent, but the service and allergy awareness were poor enough that I would not feel comfortable eating here again, especially with celiac disease or food allergies. For a full-service restaurant, I should not have to manage the service myself or worry this much about whether my dietary restrictions were actually communicated to the kitchen. Well here is my opinion. 1) You can bring your own snacks, popcorn, drinks, Bojangles, or Wendy's and they are not going to kick you out. 2) They sell concessions dirt cheap. You are actually willing to buy stuff. You can get a drink and popcorn for under $3. Doesn't that beat a $12.50 combo at other theaters. 3) The ticket price. $2.50 for non students, and $1.50 for students. I am not sure if that price is just for NCSU students, or all students. 4) If the above mentioned price is too much, then check the website. They show entire series of films for FREE. If they show a never been released advanced screening of a movie, it will always be free. And many times they will have the director, actor or somebody from the film there. Zach Galifianakis showed up for one of his screenings, after all he did go to NCSU. 5) You can take your kids to the movies there for all of the family friendly movies. 6) All the movies are free during the summer. You know where I will be. Grab a pillow and blanket, head to NCSU and get comfy for your movie. Really, I have seen people walk into the theater with pillows before. I check out their schedule at least once a week, since they do add stuff at the last minute some times. If I am in the area, I will walk in, and check their table in the front lobby. They often place free goodies and promotional items on it. Even free passes to other movies will be placed on the table, so it is worth checking out.

The kids event start in the mid afternoon, and include the full New Year;s Eve countdown treatment at 7pm (12 midnight on Greenwich Mean Time) with the acorn drop and fireworks display. Ever wanted to be in a parade? You have your chance with the people's procession. Lots of paper mache animal heads and shapes are made available for use in the parade, or be one of the many walking the huge puppet named Rhea down the parade route. New for this year was a phone app that made it much easier to see what activities where happening at any particular time. Do be aware this is a popular event and can get VERY crowded, especially at the main stage for both the 7pm and midnight acorn drops. Traffic and parking can be quite difficult, especially for those not used to downtown parking. I have been many times since this event started iver 25 years ago. I have always found it to be an enjoyable way to bring in the new year.

Besides its use of the theater for special events, it also houses the Full Frame Film Festival offices [a WONDERFUL annual international event dedicated to the theatrical exhibition of nonfiction cinema. We came here to see multiple plays such as Dracula, Santa land Diaries, and Hair. You can book your tickets online. They do offer military and student discounts. You just have to show proof that it applies to you upon arrival. They tend to sell out of most of their shows. They have an adorable concession stand that serves refreshments inside the lobby. There are quite a few great restaurants nearby, so this makes for a great date night!

Each guest received a souvenir glass to enjoy unlimited samples of beer and bourbon (plus there were a few wines and other spirits on hand to try). It was nice to discover some local distilleries and learn more about them inside the Tasting Theatre( where we opted to attend one of the seminars). We explored BBQ Food trucks galore but even if you don't eat it there were other options like Cousins Lobsters . I would say if I had to choose which day was best, Friday night VIP session included a Dinner Plate, where you can chose to get a sampler platter from the food trucks with that offer. I've attended the beer bourbon and barbecue festival at Cocoa Booth in Cary many times over the…read moreyears I've always looked forward to it in fact our group typically includes anywhere from 15 to 20 friends and family members who attend each year unfortunately this year's event was very disappointed One of the biggest concerns was the limited number of vendors especially those specializing in spirits there appear to be very few whiskey bourbon vodka rum tequila rye vendors I don't think I saw any vodka vendors and no rum. another disappointing change is the tasting cup and the lanyard I remember when they used to provide glass cups however along with the hard plastic tasting cup they also change the lanyards and now that is a cheap piece of rubber that stretches out of shape and the cups fall through so if you make a mistake and buy the lanyard thinking that your glass will fit It will not and you will find that you will lose your cup consistently and have to replace it some of us wait all year for this festival traditionally it's been a lot of fun and memorable experience We hope you consider the feedback and bring back the variety of vendors and higher quality event materials​
