Classic Rock Burger. Hard to get down.
    Jamie B.

A rough meal to get down. Couldn't finish. Not sure how they smoke/sauce/cook their meat but found the standard hamburger to be inedible. Fries were thin and hard sticks. Pretty poor beer selection given it's a bar. Service was pretty slow gi. A couple of tvs with the most unappealing, random tv shows on that showed mostly commercials. I'm sure they have their regulars. I just couldn't appreciate them although they look great from the outside in.

My new favorite local hangout! I absolutely love the decor and ambience here...it's very jazzy! Had it bookmarked for awhile and recently stumbled upon it. They're located near to the Fillmore! They've been open just under a year (September 2019). In the last two weeks I've been here twice for happy hour. Francis is an amazing bartender! He knows his drinks and is fun to chat with. Right now (due to Covid), their hours are limited but they are open. Stop by and check them out! You won't be disappointed.

We had a solid experience here. We came by for drinks on Saturday night. It was surprisingly empty but we loved the company and music. The place is pretty classy and has a cozy appeal to it. The bar area has really comfy stools... and Gary was the best! My margarita was really tasty but pricey. Overall drinks were good, but they were definitely "DC" priced. I'd like to come back on a night to experience some live jazz and try some food.

The ambience is just beautiful. The way it's decorated inside is peaceful and they have jazz music playing too. They have live music on Fridays and Saturdays. For being a new business they're actually pretty good. We came in during happy hour time. They have $7 rail drinks/beer/wine, $5 wings (5wings), and an $8 burger with fries. We ordered the sweet chili wings and a drink. They brought us warm delicious cornbread. It was so soft and just tasted amazing. As entrees we ordered the burger and fries and my boyfriend ordered the crab cake entree and exchanged the fries for Mac and cheese. All of it was delicious. I'm not a huge fan of shoe string fries but that's what they serve. The crab cakes were medium size and my boyfriend said it was good. Definitely want to come back during the live entertainment and when they have their brunch.

Oh boy. Where to start? Allow me to begin by saying my wife and I were strolling around DTSS lamenting the lack of a nice, chill cocktail bar in the area when we happened down Colesville Road and spotted Silver Strings, recalling it had opened just a few weeks ago and we'd been meaning to check it out. From the outside? Impressive! Some cute outdoor seating and a large, beautiful, wooden front door. We peaked inside the window. Quite the lovely looking interior as well! "Is this the cocktail bar we'd been wishing for?" we hoped aloud. Only one way to find out: we gave the door a pull. Stuck. Or locked? We looked inside the window again. Quite a few folks at the bar and seated at tables. Bar staff and servers. A soft opening? We tried the door again. Definitely locked. Another couple remarked "We couldn't open it either" as they walked off, having given up. I, on the other hand, was determined, and I decided to give them a call to see what was going on. The owner answered and came to greet us at the door. Indeed, it somehow seems it had been locked. Strange, but no matter. We were inside now, and the place was even more impressive looking inside than it seemed from the outside looking in. Wonderful attention to detail. Jazz music played at a nice volume, attractive wood work and paintings on the walls, and a long, well built bar along the left side of the space with comfortable looking leather stools. If I were rating this place on appearance and ambiance alone, I'd give it five stars. However, that's when things took a turn for the much, much worse... We took two seats at the bar. Two barmen were working. More accurately: two barmen were moving about behind the bar. I admired the older gentlemen's suspenders. Nice barman aesthetic! Apparently giving off this aesthetic was the totality of his job description because, other than this, in our approximately 30 minutes at the bar, all we saw him do was break off a cork in a bottle of red wine and turn down a spoon from his colleague, electing instead to reach into a jar of martini olives with his fingers for my Gibson. But let's back up. Our bartender was a friendly, slow moving, rather befuddled fellow. He welcomed us and gave us a bar menu which consisted of your standard cocktails: martini, old fashioned, Manhattan, and the like. I surveyed the liquor behind the bar and noticed a few integral items (Campari for instance) missing. "Okay," I quickly readjusted my expectations, "this isn't really a cocktail bar; more of a jazz/supper club, maybe." We ordered our drinks: an old fashioned for my wife and the aforementioned Gibson for me. The bartender very methodically yet clearly uncertainly went about making our drinks. While we nervously watched him use peychaud bitters instead of angostora in the old fashioned, we took in some of the other scenery: The poorly ventilated kitchen poured smoke out into the bar/dining area while a waiter stood idly by, his frantically attention m-seeking table failing to grab his attention. Several other employees stood around idly as well. It became apparent very quickly that no one working here knew what they were supposed to be doing. That's on management. Back to the old fashioned. The bottle of Bulleit didn't contain a full pour. "Would you mind if I blend it?" Uhhhh. "Sure, that's fine." At this point we realized this was not going well and frankly just wanted him to finish making our drinks so we could leave. Suffice it to say, the resulting drink wasn't an old fashioned. It was... something else altogether, and not good at all. My Gibson with the fingered onions? Fine. Whatever. The menu didn't have prices and I was hoping the saving grace would be that these amateurishly crafted concoctions would at least be reasonably priced. Negative. $14 for the "old fashioned" and $16 (!) for the Gibson. Wtf. Also of note: this place is touting itself as a music venue. It was a Saturday night and there was no live music. We really, really, really wanted this place to be good. It's not. It's really bad, actually. And that's tragic because the owner clearly spent a lot of money and put a lot of thought into decorating and designing the space. Ownership, presuming you read this: hire a professional bar/restaurant manager and staff. Please. I've never been to such a promising establishment so desperately in need of help as this one. I hope I can revise my review in the near future to something positive. In the meantime, there's A LOT that needs to be fixed at Silver Strings.

The service was terrible. We were overcharged and can not get anyone to correct this. The phone is disconnected, so contacting them can only be done through social media. I got a response on fb about two weeks after messaging them saying that they would look into our issue with our bill, but then that was it. No further contact.

In March 2018, my girlfriend at the time wanted to go here as there was a group of people going for St. Patrick's Day. We went here along with her young pre-teen daughter. They almost weren't going to let us in, but my g/f assured we just needed to eat, and they said since it was before 9 PM, it'd be ok. I enjoyed my Shepherd's Pie, a solid option here. After eating, there was dancing on the dance floor and a couple of people I knew. Then, my g/f went out to the dance floor. I'm sitting at the table with my g/f's pre-teen daughter who fell asleep. It was awkward for me especially since someone asked me if she was ok, and I said she's just tired. We left sometime in the midnight hour. But the fact of the matter was that my g/f shouldn't have put her daughter in that situation. On a positive, her daughter graduated high school & is still alive today in 2025, so her mom did something right. The other time I was here was in February 2023. I decided to have my birthday party at Copper Canyon in downtown Silver Spring. Then, a few of us were willing to hang longer asking what I wanted to do. I said I remember McGinty's was a good Irish pub. So, I had a couple of more drinks here. Staff was nice and helpful getting me drinks. Overall, I like McGinty's as it's a cute Irish pub with live entertainment, dance floor, & good Shepherd's Pie.

The servers were friendly and prompt, and cheerfully gave us separate checks when it was time to pay. But, unless you like your beer warm, the drinks may disappoint you. My beet salad with goat cheese and grapefruit was beautifully described on the menu - enough to seduce me to order something that was not an Irish classic - but was not enjoyable enough to finish. The fries were good though, and the fried fish that others ordered looked to be perfectly done. So perhaps I'll come back when I'm in the mood for some classical fare. Too bad about the beer though.,,

Pretty chill Bar seemed a bit slow and possibly understaffed waitress, but everyone was very helpful and patient. Prepare to pay for food and drinks upfront. She helped with the options for the game load cards, since it had been many years since the last time I had came here. It was nice to see a new reservation area and some fresh games. Now some of the games such as the racing games might move a little fast and some like the slot machine and the 4 way pong and Pacman games are not explained the best and can be confusing, while the basketball, skee-ball, and some of the shooter games are a bit more consistent offering amazing, fun, trilling, and exciting gameplay. Other games like the Ghostbusters and the UFC game right in the front are total letdowns. The axe throwing is apart of the fad with ax throwing and thank goodness the axes are plastic but the rubber board is hard to get the plastic axes to stick, but with proper technique it does work. I was excited with some of the new games and some of the old reliable ones in the arcade. DTSS Ellsworth Place had an adorable small independent arcade with Dance Dance Revolution and basketball game in it back in the day on a lower level, so it is great that D&B opened up almost around a decade ago to provide an arcade in a mall that was truly lacking and desperate to be brought back to relevancy. The restaurant food had improved a bit since the last time I was here pre-COVID, and the service was friendly but a bit slow and erratic at times certainly have to pack your patience, that is a running theme with Dave & Busters with the slow restaurant and bar. The place was clean and had hand sanitized wipes and clean tables throughout parts of the arcade which was splendid. Nobody with class and decorum want sticky tables with crumbs and liquid spills on them, so nice with having the tables and games clean and wiped down and floor vacuumed, big kudos! The patrons themselves can be an issue. Security had to inform a father with a kid that the dad let him climb one of the arcade machines standing on it to have the kid get off from the machine. This was dangerous and idiotic. Someone had a dog with a diaper on with a leash roaming around here trying to sniff people. That also was a poor decision even for an emotional support animal, all of the overstimulation and loud noise and tons of kids an adults, it just meant no sense to bring fido to the arcade. Why do people insist bringing these dogs everywhere these days and lack respect for boundaries especially with other human beings. It is if they have more respect for the dogs than the other patrons and not even paying attention and keeping up with the dog going around to other people there. The kids should also not be playing with balls in the actual restaurant/bar. That is the problem with the poor parenting and undisciplined children having a lot out here these days. I want the location to better enforce rules and regulations, however it has improved a great deal from its past which is nice!

Ordering food and drink from any of the many tables inside is super convenient. Each table has its own QR code that you can scan, to bring up their menu on your phone. Once an order is placed, the food and drink come out very quickly, and a running tab will be kept until you choose to close it. It wasn't obvious to me, as a first time customer, that you have to get your silverware and napkins from a station a elsewhere in the large room, but luckily, I had overheard someone else commenting on that before my food arrived. The only possible problem might be parking on busy nights. For example, on this night, a concert was going to start nearby; the dinner crowd was larger than usual, and more parking spots in the area were taken. Other than that, food and drink are very enjoyable here, and I'd certainly come back if I'm in the area again.
