Be careful on what you ask for vs what you get from this moving company. I was charged for hours that were unnecessary, some of the movers slacked so my family had to literally get up in the truck and help move our items out to avoid being charged additional hours. They overcharged and the movers are not shy about making sure you know there should be a tip at the end. Wow, I've moved many times but this one was the worst. The Lead guy is always having to tell the other guy(s) what to do, how to do it, etc. which took even more time. Ridiculous! read more

Right from the beginning of this moving experience I had a great feeling about working with Joe & Chris. Joe called me early to reach out and set the stage for a positive experience. I provided him with all the pertinent information and Joe asked all the right questions and even introduced his working partner Christopher (Chris) and when the guys showed up right on schedule they were eager to get things going right away. I showed Chris the lay of the land while Joe prepped the truck interior so within 15 minutes we were rocking and a rolling. Joe was clear about going over all the financial issues and we got clarity on how to handle their gratuity so there were no surprises. The gentleman were super efficient and they make a great team. In Hollywood we call these types of guys as A-Listers! I was more than satisfied with their work ethic and I really felt I got my money's worth and was grateful they got assigned to my move. They absolutely met and exceeded all of my expectations and I would highly recommend them to any friend or family planning a move in the SoCal area! I scheduled a 3- man crew to start my move Saturday, January 3, 2026 at 8:00 am, 1-bedroom/garage. I received a call at 7:45 am from Mover Joe, Supervisor Star Silver Star Moving advising me they are leaving their location and due to arrive by 8:30 am, he wanted to know why I ordered a 3-man crew instead of a 2-man crew, since I was moving from a 1-bedroom 1st floor unit, it would be better for the "tip" to split it between 2 instead of 3 persons. Prior to my move I purchased a 4- rolls case of shrink wrap to protect my items during the move. I asked if they supplied wardrobe boxes (at no additional fee). Upon arriving I made the mover aware that I "tagged" my containers (black & yellow) and boxes. These should be brought inside new address, and the other items placed in the garage. I informed them that I would like them to "shrink-wrap all my furniture". Joe stated they usually cover the furniture with blankets. I again, requested due to the rain, I would like them to shrink- wrap all my furniture. I recently had knee replacement surgery; I relied on them to complete my move as requested. I was asked multiple times by Joe, what's the new address and how long does it take to get there? I informed Joe, I gave my new address when placing the order; informed him the drive time is 20 minutes away. I asked them to be very careful with my glass furniture items especially the tv 60-inch stand (glass) with shelves begs on the stand. Regarding (2) racks of clothing, I ask if them to shrine-wrap the clothes instead of me placing them into wardrobe boxes. Joe, constantly, wanted me to be aware and show appreciation for the hard work they were doing and asked that they be allowed to take a lunchbreak, I agreed. When setting up my 60-inch TV onto stand I noticed scratches on the screen, the TV stand was missing a peg, and mirrored vanity was damaged. Immediately called and sent text message with pics to Michael, Silver Star Rep. showing damage items and requesting a claim for the damage items. Again, I asked containers and boxes marked with tags placed inside other items placed in the garage. I was charged for (8) hours and additional fees for material used, when asked what's material fees included. Joe stated "it's corporate policy" for the packing material used (wardrobe boxes, shrink-wrap and tape). I paid the fees and tipped each of them. I informed the crew I was missing several containers with tags, informed all tagged containers were placed inside. I later found out, that was not correct, they had placed several containers tagged in the garage, clearly marked. Now I have to pay, someone else to locate/move tagged containers inside. Due to the lack of professionalism, damage to my furniture, less not forget moving in the rain (no fault of movers) I rate my move 2- star. I would not recommend Silver Star Moving! read more

Joe and Carlos moved all of our furniture from one 2nd floor apartment to another 2nd floor apartment with sped and efficiency. Several of the items had glass shelves (hutches) but they were able to move them without any damage, putting the glass shelves back. They were friendly, and courteous. At the end of the move, there was a discrepancy with the final bill (not their fault, but there were additional charges not mentioned in the original quote by a company representative), and they took care of the misunderstanding, and took off a couple of changes not previously mentioned. They kept to the time limit of 4 hours, and did a great job moving everything. The main office should be sure they go over ALL charges with clients to prevent misunderstanding in future. read more

They "lost" my most valuable things. First, upon delivery they had me sign that I'd received all my belongings. Before I even knew they lost my most valuable things. After trying to communicate with them, no resolution came about, they told me my garage was messy when they moved but my most beloved valuables were centralized and there's no way they went out with the trash. These were really the only things I was paying this storage rent to have back... and I was devastated- to pay a steep monthly fee and then just be left with theft. They said they'd saved the valuables in a different place and when I received the box I received only a portion of the collection of handbags I had, along with some scratcher tickets. Like a cruel joke. I cannot recommend them to anyone at all. If I'd have gotten all the things I'd stored with them, or at least the things that mattered I'd say they were great. George was awesome as a mover. But I just trusted I'd get the valuables and they completely screwed me over. Thousands of dollars. I'm not impressed at all! I would NEVER do business with them again. First of all, there should be a person IN California to look over how big of a place is, instead a person named Scott who was in NY stated that a 26-foot truck would take care of a 3025 sq foot home again not walking through the house and or seeing the house and the contents would make it a bit challenging. I should have canceled and said forget it. I did talk to Scott on the phone on that Saturday morning and said there was NO way my stuff would fit! When the crew of 4 got there I showed them what all was going on. Some things were wrapped but never made it on the truck, why it couldn't fit yet Scott said it would! My daughter's bed was left behind as well as other things, she ended up sleeping on the floor at my new place. The way it went was more like a pick and choose as to what would I had to hire another company on the following Monday morning to get the rest of my belongings. I'm still waiting to talk to Amy in the office to discuss the issues I had on my move on 3/9/2024. NOT HAPPY and DO NOT RECOMMEND!!! 2nd update: I still have not heard back from this company! But seems they can find the time to answer google reviews. ******** Update: almost a month later! I've been trying to contact this company to resolve the issue, I'm not getting any response! They keep directing me to voice mail. I've been told owner has been on vacation for past 3 weeks!! ---------------- I booked the service 2 weeks ahead of time with a quote they provided. 3 days before move I was charged $200.00. I called asking about this charge that had been made to my account without informing me! They told me it was for my work in the afternoon! I told them I've not had any services yet! And it will be in 3 days. She mentioned my address and it was the wrong address. After some checking she said she will refund! Day of move we had everything packed and 85% of items in boxes in living room. They took 3 hours to load a 2 bedroom with minimal items. We paid extra for piano move and they basically had no idea how to prepare and move a piano! My husband had to guide them into how to do it. Took them 3 hours to get to Irvine from LA, although map was 2 hours! Unloading took 1 hour!! They were obviously going slow to increase the hours! At the end they came up with a bill nearly $600 more than the quote! We were honestly in shock. We are in a tight budget and planned on the quote being correct or maybe 100 over! But 600??? I've been trying to contact them for a week and they keep telling me to wait. Also no response to any of my emails!!! Also my dining table leg was broken and there was a screw mounted into my desk!!! Silver Star Moving and Storage is a highly unreliable company with extremely deceitful and unprofessional staff, I would leave Zero stars if I could. I called Silver Star to schedule a moving service 20 days ahead of my scheduled move. The person who took down my information was very nice and sent me a quote instantly with a verification of my paid $100 deposit. He mentioned that a day before my move, I would receive a call from the company to confirm my movers and the addresses. That day came and I received no such call. On my scheduled move day, I called Silver Star and the person speaking to me tells me that the original person who gave me the quote and took down my info had since been FIRED and that he had NEVER booked my movers. I was confused and disappointed to say the least. I then spoke with the manager who offered to re-schedule in three days and offered a $50 discount for a hidden charge I had not been privy to. I agreed and booked the movers for the next Sunday. Again, Sunday came and the movers did not. I spent two hours trying to reach the manager and Silver Star and eventually, they began to hang up as my call connected. On Monday, no one from Silver Star reached out to give an explanation for yet again, FAILING to provide the service I had already paid for. Silver Star Moving and Storage should NOT be TRUSTED as a company for any service. Their grotesque unprofessionalism and their inexplicable cancellation of my movers caused me severe anxiety and forced me to pay for the extra days I had to spend at my old apartment, not to mention the cost for booking a new moving company last minute. DO NOT call Silver Star, they'll end up causing you more harm and costing more money than other professional moving services. read more

I am so grateful for Silver Star Movers. I needed to take about 10 items of furniture from my house in Dana Pt to my son's house in Studio City- and we were trying to dodge the rain. The movers agreed to come on a Sunday between 8-10 in the morning. They arrived at 10 am with a big truck and 2 very strong men. They methodically came in and wrapped each piece in protective wrap covered by a furniture pad . They were so nice and quick about their work. They left here at 11:30 and arrived in Studio City at 1:15 And carried each piece of furniture and set it up according to my son's instructions. They were fantastic. TERRIBLE experience. I requested a quote online, Sean called me to discuss quote and said 3.5 hours. Then emailed me a quote for 5.25 hours. When I asked about it he said "don't worry about that. It's by hour, it won't take them longer than 3.5 so you won't have to pay the additional time." I suggested sending an additional mover and again he said it was unnecessary and that the estimate of 3.5 was within reason. He then proceeded to call me 20 times over the next two days to confirm my move. The movers arrived, did an excellent job. Cesar and his partner worked as quickly as possible. Upon seeing that we were running well over the time, I had to help the movers to avoid getting charged for additional 4 hours. Eventually got charged for 6.5 hours (3 hours more than Sean suggested it would take). I called Sean to discuss and he didn't answer. I called all day Monday and only Tuesday afternoon was I able to reach him. I called additional 10 times to speak with Amy and no one returned my calls. To think Sean had time to call me 20 times to confirm the move and now suddenly was too busy to address the issue is poor form. After discussing that the timing was incorrect and I was overcharged they refunded me for 45 minutes. Absolute trash experience. They treat their movers terribly, underpay them, overwork them, and they try and reduce the number of movers working to avoid paying them more. The result: you get stuck fronting a higher bill. read more

Terrible experience. They quoted me $300 a month for storage fees and just received an invoice 1.5 weeks later for $580. This was in addition to the original invoice that I paid in full. Be careful because this company will tack on fees without getting prior approval. Instead of honoring the original quote, they asked when I would like to move out my items. Horrible customer service. He went above and beyond and made sure everyone on the team was aware of what needed to happen and how the job needed to be executed. I also like to thank the entire Silverstar team for making this large move a success we had 0 issues and everything was well planned. They provided me with a labeling system that allowed us to have items tagged and transported to the correct locations. We had to move items from 1 location into 5 different locations making the job more complicated but that didn't stop the well managed team. BUYER BEWARE!!! I'm livid with this company! I paid almost $5,000 to move my things from LA to Palm Springs and the whole experience has been a nightmare! Even though the guys were very accommodating and friendly, some of them were extremely unprofessional. My mom told me that one of the guys was asking her if we were throwing out a pair of my bf's $2,000 Jordan shoes, and I was asked more than once if our items were for sale. Also, on multiple occasions, I had to babysit bins and boxes with our valuables in them because they were left in the middle of the parking garage! God only knows what happened to our items when they held our stuff overnight. We had items that were broken, missing pieces, and entire bags and suitcases missing entirely. After we had finished sorting/unpacking, we noticed we were missing specific a McM backpack filled with jewelry and small electronics, a Gucci suitcase filled with designer belts and sunglasses, and a huge nike duffel bag filled with purses and shoes... Not suspicious at all, huh? **scoff** Anyway, we did have Apple air tags on some of our super valuable items that were in suitcases and bags and when my bf looked into where our stuff was, we found his AirPod maxes, the Nike duffel bag and the Gucci suitcase in East south central Los Angeles!!! And they were 6 to 7 blocks away from each other! I was completely floored! We filed a police report and hired an attorney to assist us in this matter, but I felt obligated to share the experience I had with this company. To be fair, customer service has been relatively good and they do appear to be helping us sort this horrible situation out. Per a recent conversation w my boyfriend, they think there is a good chance that some of our things were left on one of the trucks, and even though we are trying to remain optimistic, we still don't have our stuff! We pray everyday that it finds its way to our new home as some of those items aren't even made anymore, and some are extremely sentimental from late family... Long story short: we paid thousands of dollars to hire a seemingly professional company with great reviews and a great reputation because to us, a few thousand dollars extra for a solid moving company and even more money for insurance was worth the peace of mind considering how expensive a lot of our things are. Jonathan and Brian were amazing! They showed up on time and were very efficient and polite. They wore masks and maintained their distance from us which I appreciate during a global pandemic. The truck itself is long and skinny, so it was easy for them to double park on our street. As with all moving companies, be prepared to pay for fuel and supplies. I have moved 4 times in last 10 years and every time the experience was not good rather i would like to forget about the overall painful experience i had in past. This time I searched silver star through Google search and asked for quote. Also, over the phone i spoke with Amy and it felt like this time my experience in moving residence can be different and better. Let me explain my past experience with other movers. When movers arrive at your residence they will review your stuff and immediately tell you the quote was provided expecting less stuff to be moved and now looking at your stuff it needs to be revised and it always goes up several hundred dollars. Amy from silver star was ready to beat any other quote that I may have. Just let them know what quote i have and she was confident to tell me that they can not only match the quote but beat it. On the day of move sharp at 8 am i received a call from Evgeny and he said himself and William will be at my place in next 20 minutes. They both arrived sharp at 8.20 AM and they both looked at my stuff which was packed and ready to go. At 8.25 AM he asked me to sign a contract which was at exact same price that was quoted. I was surprised in a good way. They immediately started loading items by very carefully wrapping and making sure no damage is done in the process. At the end both asked if they did good job and it was definitely a 5 star experience overall. If i ever have to move again I would not have any hesitation to use silver star and if possible the same team.
