We hired Mark to DJ our wedding at Wildwood Acres, which took place at the beginning of October. We first spoke to him back at the beginning of the year, and as soon as we decided to go with him he was on the ball. He provided us with a detailed outline of a usual wedding service and reception, which was then ours to tweak as we wanted. The correspondence continued until both sides were confident that the wedding would be the perfect one for us. He took the initiative to get our other vendor's information and contacted them with all the details we'd worked out to keep everybody on the same page. On a general note, Mark will be as hands on during your day as you'd like him to be. In our case, we wanted somebody to be on top of the whole event from start to finish. He kept the evening flowing smoothly, had great interaction with our guests, and even brought us drinks while we were taking pictures. My fiancee and I were looking for a dj for our wedding. We saw all the positive reviews for Mark Welch Entertainment on Yelp and gave them a call. We spoke with Chris Monroe, one of the djs, last week and agreed to have an in-person meeting this week to further discuss his services, style, music, etc. We emailed Chris the exact location + address + date/time of where to meet, but didn't hear back from him. We were supposed to meet last night at Starbucks at 7:00pm. I called Chris at 5:30pm and left a message, but didn't hear back from him. We arrived to Starbucks at 6:55pm and called him again. I left another message, but didn't hear back from him. We waited until 7:15pm and left a 3rd message. I called Mark Welch and left him a message as well. We didn't hear back from anyone, so we decided to leave. Mark Welch contacted me this morning and was very professional and apologetic. He kindly offered a make-good from the no-show last night, which was appreciated. Mark said that he would follow up with Chris to determine what happened last night. Mark is, by far, our favorite wedding vendor! He is very personable and extremely organized. He left an awesome impression on not just my husband and I when we first met him, but also my parents (who don't speak English too well)! I thought my parents would want us to book someone who could also speak Chinese for the wedding, but they were all for booking him from the start. It is rare that my parents do that! As the wedding day neared, I got overwhelmed with everything and the music planning got thrown to the side a little bit. When I finally got around to it, it was maybe two weeks before the wedding (have to finalize a week before the wedding). I had no idea how many different songs you had to pick for just the ceremony alone! I only filled it out halfway and sent it in before talking to Mark and he was very understanding and helped us through it. He made it a lot easier for us and was very patient. He sent the planner our way and was very responsive when we wanted to change anything on the schedule/planner. On the day of the wedding, he coordinated everyone with ease and greeted all the guests. When my husband mentioned that he could use a drink, Mark asked what we wanted and went right away to grab it (and that isn't even in his job description!). He is super hospitable and the best value for his services. I am usually cautious of businesses that have all 5 star reviews, but I would give even more stars if I could. Mark Welch Entertainment was suggested to us by Wildwood Acres as a preferred vendor and because we booked him through Wildwood Acres, there was a price deal offered. I am so happy we decided to book Mark for my daughter's wedding. I was very impressed with the fact that he was present at the rehearsal, coordinating the flow of the rehearsal and would coordinate the day of the wedding; thereby eliminating the need for a wedding coordinator. As with any event, there are bound to be a few snafus, and this one was no exception. The laptop wouldn't play the music my daughter selected for her to walk down the aisle. Mark's assistant quickly retrieved a back up laptop and the music started. They say "everything happens for a reason" and my husband told me later that during the wait time, he and my daughter had a very special moment together! Another thing that impressed me about Mark, is that he played whatever music for the processional as you wanted. The bride and groom selected everything from 60's music to heavy metal and he accommodated their wishes. It was fun to have such a mixture of styles woven into the music of the processional. Mark was upbeat, fun and kept everyone informed as to what would be happening next and an approximate time. He played music that was requested prior to the event (not sure if he played any "requests" that night). It didn't matter though, because everyone had a great time. I recently had the honor to work alongside Mark at a wedding in Lafayette. As a photographer I get to see a lot of wedding coordinators and Djs and Mark was certainly one of the best. He was very helpful, punctual and prepared. All the announcements where on time and as scheduled, managing the flow and timeline of the event flawlessly. Mark Welch is the BEST! I would 110% recommend him! My husband and I got married on October 13, 2012, and Mark was our MC and DJ at the reception as well as our sound guy for the ceremony. My hubby took care of the music part, for the most part. From what he has told me, Mark's online system was very easy to use. We also had a few of songs that weren't in his online catalog, but he got all the songs we asked for. Mark was also very helpful when helping us pick songs for different aspects of the ceremony and reception. I had already picked my song to walk down the aisle to (Dawn from the Pride& Prejudice soundtrack) so we just needed some songs that matched the style. I sent Mark an email, and he had found me on dropbox within a day and sent me a few options. They were all great options, and his quick turnaround for helping us choose songs was really appreciated. I think the only snafu was when he sent us our final checklist, there were a few mistakes (like swapping my sisters names), but it was fixed before the big day! (Plus Mark apologized like a million times, even though it wasn't a big deal since it was fixed!) Other thing that Mark did that were extra special: after we ate, he immediately came to our side with a box of Altoids! He also kept the crowd going all night on the dance floor (always very impressive to me when someone can actually keep a group motivated and keep with the flow of the crowd's mood). But what took the cake was that our venue told us to call him *the*night*before* to ask him to bring an extra mic stand for the readers. I thought, ya right! It's the night before! But sure enough, my husband called him and Mark brought the extra equipment without even batting an eyelash! Mark was a pleasure to work with, and I'm so happy that we found him for our wedding. Mark was the DJ for my wedding this weekend and it was one of the best decisions we made! Mark was the first vendor we booked, probably about 9-10 months before the wedding and was prompt in meeting with us and getting us information to start logging into his site so we could browse music, add them to our primary and secondary request list, and even had the ability to search by things like "Top 90s Songs", "Top 80s Songs", "Top Recessional Songs", etc... He was responsive when we had requests/questions, and flexible when we had some outside-the-box ideas. Then came the day-of the wedding, Mark kept to the schedule, helped organize things like the bridal party's line-up, getting the crowd worked up for the first announcements, and wrangling everyone to their seats when they needed to be seated. Everything he did throughout the night kept everything moving along, running smoothly, and high spirited. Can't recommend Mark enough and would give 6/5 if possible! read more

Mark is an excellent DJ...we are so happy we went with him for our wedding. First of all, he was very helpful with the planning process. We met a couple of times before the wedding to talk about ideas/ what we wanted/ what we didn't want. I had a specific request to have the first half of a song played at the beginning of our wedding ceremony, and the second half of the song played at the end of the ceremony. He gladly edited the song using high-tech equipment so that it was just the way I wanted it. The actual event was flawless. We could hear the music clearly and he played as many of our requests as he could fit in, both during dinner and dancing. In addition to providing the music, he also kept the flow of the party moving wonderfully. We were running a bit behind on our timeline and Mark had great suggestions in order to speed things up a bit (for example- we did our first dance inside rather than outside as we had originally planned- and it turned out better because it was more of an intimate setting with our family and friends, and it saved time since we didn't have to bring everyone outside, then back inside to cut the cake). Mark is extremely professional, enthusiastic about what he does, and very caring. He was a huge part in making our wedding all that we ever dreamed it would be. It's already been said, but can't be said enough-- Mark is SO much more than a DJ. We did not have a wedding coordinator, but really didn't need one. Mark facilitated our whole event, so we never had to look at the clock or wonder if we were on schedule or running behind. We did things a little differently than the usual flow of a wedding, but nothing was an inconvenience to Mark. He loved all our ideas and even gave us more suggestions to make things happen the way we envisioned. My husband and I surprised every single person (minus Mark and the photographer) with a dance we had been practicing. He never gave a single hint that something secret was going to happen, all the way up until our "performance." He played all of our song requests. My sister prepared a slideshow, but her music track got lost. She got really frustrated because everyone was watching, and the pictures started playing without the music she spent hours working on to match the show. Mark ran over, asked what she wanted, and he played the same songs that she had planned to match the show, all on a whim. He never flinched. Such a sweet guy as well, very comfortable an enjoyable to work with. I'm sad we don't have another event coming up really soon so we could hire him again!
