Silver Lake has been my dentist for 20 plus years, I have been pleased with their professionalism and care the entire time.

I've been going to Silver Lake Dental Arts for a few years now, and I've had a great experience every single time. I recently had a tooth filled that they had been monitoring for a while, and the entire experience was flawless. The dental assistant, Char, is absolutely amazing! I loved chatting with her. Dr. Kwong is very kind, explains everything clearly, and walks you through each step so you always know what's happening. I also have to say, all of the ladies in the front office are so kind and sweet. It's hard to find a good dentist, and when you do, it truly feels like a blessing. This was my first visit to the clinic and I had to get everything checked and cleaned. I got three sets of X-rays done, teeth cleaning, and a quick overview of my teeth health all within an hour. Everything from check in through the time I saw Dr. Fanger was quick and efficient. The only time I waited was for a short 5 minutes in the lobby. Dr. Fanger, the hygienist staff, and the front desk person were so friendly and took the time to not only understand my dental history, but to get to know me on a personal level. My complete experience at Silver Lake- from the front desk through to the various hygienists and assistants and Dr. Samia was a huge pleasure and I felt well cared for. My grandfather was a dentist and I have always had great dental care and attention to good hygiene. I have had a few minor issues that the dentists said were one thing but I knew they were not. The staff at the front desk is always very friendly and the front office is very relaxing with the fish tank. I used to enjoy coming here when Dr. Johnson was still on staff. My appointments were always quick and after my cleaning he was in the room for no longer than a minute because my teeth were always top notch and I always received compliments on what a good job I do cleaning them. This not only came from him, but also all the other dentists I have seen in my life. I am 42 years old and up until last year I had only had 2 cavities my entire life with the last one being about 15 years ago. Dr. Samia took over for Dr. Johnson after he retired and on my first visit with her she found 3 small cavities! Imagine what a shock it was to me after having only 2 others my entire life and then to be told I have 3 in one visit after not changing my eating or brushing habits at all. I was skeptical but went ahead with the fillings. A week after they were filled, 2 of the 3 hurt too much to chew on and I went back to have them looked at and she ground them down. She told me to wait a few weeks for the swelling to go down and then they should be fine. Well one of them eventually got better, but it took more like 6 weeks, however the other one continued to give me extreme pain when chewing on it. I gave it 3 months and decided that it was ridiculous that it should STILL be hurting and went back. In addition to all this, all three of my teeth where fillings were put are now EXTREMELY sensitive to hot and cold whereas they weren't sensitive at all before this. I tell her this and she sort of shrugs it off and tells me that "Maybe you are just one of those people who is going to have to live with sensitive teeth". Great thanks! They were perfectly fine before you touched them! I go back and the hygenist sees me first and I have to tell her 3 different times what the problem is and she still seems confused by it. Dr. Samia comes in and I have to explain it to her and she asks me on a scale from 1-10 how much pain I have and I say it's a 9 or 10 when chewing on it. She and the hygenist give each other a look like "I don't understand why it hurts". She grinds it down again and asks me to bite down on a cotton ball as it apparently should be better now and it still hurts just as much. She then says to give it couple of weeks and it should be okay. Then she says if it isn't okay then she doesn't know what to do as her bag of tricks is empty! Wow really?! How about an xray to see if that shows anything or maybe get another dentist in there to take a look! It's been over a month and, you guessed it, the tooth still hurts just as much as before! I had enough of Dr. Samia seeing as her "bag of tricks is empty" there's no sense in trying to see if she can fix it! If she can't get it right in 3 visits then I don't think it's going to happen. At least I didn't get charged for any of the "fixes"! I have since changed to a new dentist and will be seeing him in a few weeks. I bet my teeth would be just fine if she hadn't touched them and I wonder if I should have sought a second opinion to begin with! read more

When I was looking for a new dentist, someone recommended Silver Lakes Dental Arts. I made an appointment and really did not have any expectations. I must say, this is one of the best dental practices I have ever encountered. The friendliness and professionalism is remarkable. Doctor Samia is the best. For the last few years I have been very happy there. Unfortunately, I am re-locating to another city and will have to leave Silver Lake Dental Arts behind. I feel sad about that. This place is great. Hadn't been to the dentist in years because I, well, don't like dentists (duh) - had a referral from a coworker who has known Dr. Kellogg for a long time. It ended up being a great visit - very thorough, and the hygenist, Peggy, was really kind and gentle. I was thoroughly impressed. AND, the approach they have is not to be hyper-reactive to every little thing. Supposed cavities my last dentist advised of (which I never went back to be filled) were not even anywhere to be seen. Oh, and as a side note - since this exam was my best one since i was a kid - I recommend everyone get the Oral B electric toothbrush. I used to have a sonicare and I still had periodontal issues.
