Great place to eat! The food is American and runs what I would say is high middle-high tier with regards to burgers, onion rings, and such. The environment is very lively and you will also see locals that grew up in Cody. But the people there all seem to be there for a good time or good food. Never saw any bad attitudes in this bar. Lots of tattoos so it really makes you feel like you are on the road. There are also many games that are played there like ring and hook and big block jenga. My sister and I wanted steak, but as two broke-ass hippies, spending over $100 on dinner was a big deal. Still, you only live once....so we put in a reservation at the best-rated (on Yelp) steakhouse in the entire tourist trap of a town. But when we went to check in, we noted that the atmosphere in that steakhouse was soul-crushingly lame...so we aborted mission, and went down the street to find something more fun. This was a Friday night in Cody, a/k/a Wild West Disneyland (TM) -- so everything was jam-packed with sad-sack suburban families: fat moms, mewling tots, whining kids and emasculated, browbeaten dads. Depressing!! But then, Buffalo Bill Cody was the consummate carny, so I'm sure he was just cackling in his grave, posthumously tallying up his receipts. So, the Silver Dollar wasn't our first choice...and truth be told, it wasn't even our second -- we tried another joint, but left when they stuck us in a depressing back room and then never showed up to take our order. Silver Dollar was lucky number 3 -- and it was OK. We sat at the bar and had wine while we waited for our burgers. It was busy, so the burgers took quite a while. But the people watching was entertaining enough that the time passed quickly enough. When the food finally did arrive, it was just fine -- nothing out of the ordinary, just bar food. But the whole experience was still better than suffering through a $150 meal at the first place. There was no band playing at the time of my visit -- the atmo was more like boisterous sports pub. But I can see this place being fun later in the night, when all the suburban dads are called back to the motel and the real shit show starts rolling. One huge bonus to this place was, they don't allow kids. That's the only reason I gave them 4 stars instead of 3 -- at least they keep it semi-real!! read more

My wife and I came to Cody as part of our anniversary weekend. We were slowly exploring town, walking down the sidewalk, and the energy and fun of the Silver Follar drew is in. The restaurant was very busy, and the serving staff want even concerned. Not once did I have to ask for either mine or my wife's drink to be refilled. Live music was awesome. Truly a blast. What I like the most is the menu is on the big wall on the left you can't miss it, the menu is short and specialized so you know you are getting something good. We must of hit an off day. While the staff was very friendly with the locals, they were strictly business with those obviously NOT locals. But, to be fair, EVERYONE was waiting about an hour for their food. The Cod fish and chips were left in the fryer way too long and the burger was strictly just meh. This place was recommended to us by locals for the best burgers in Cody. They weren't kidding! Not only was the burger great but you can get fried chips too - love 'em! You get to pick extras for on your burger besides the usual condiments. Then pick either fries, onion rings or fried chips. Excellent burgers and the pull pork sandwich is a must try if you like pull pork as they blacken the shredded pork before putting it in the sandwich, giving it extra crunch and smokiness. The hot wings were not bad but too salty for my taste. The french fries and onion rings are flavorful without being greasy. I will not hesitate to order these dishes again except the wings. Seemed like a safe option during COVID with large patio with tables separated well. Unfortunately none of the servers had masks on. Our sever stood next to us and took our order. Was gruff and abrupt. After our food was delivered, she vanished. We eventually had to hunt her down for our bill. The hamburger was good, should be for $12. Did not leave a tip because I didn't want to wait for her to come back, or deal with the mask issue again. I would think making customers feel comfortable would be tops on the priority list, but apparently even with all the folks from around the country passing through to Yellowstone there is no spread in Cody. read more

I would give it no stars if I could. My family and I have been coming here since we were four every other year. For the first time all my cousins and I are over 21 so we were so set on silver dollar. They were absolutely terrible. So unprofessional. So they waiter refused to split the checks with our bigger party so we asked if we could at least split it in half so it's not such a big check, and he just kept walking away from us, literally. Three times. So we decided to cash out and he wouldn't cash us out so we needed to do it ourselves. Then one of my cousins was sitting at the bar alone and they didn't realize he was part of our party and all of them were talking so much crap about us about how awful we were and how stupid we were and so on. Went to this place on our way into Yellowstone, had a couple of drinks and it seemed like a good place with some live music. When we ordered our second round, we also ordered a couple of burgers to go and closed our tab so we could go chill at our hotel. The burgers took about 45 minutes to get to us. There were quite a few people there, but from what we could see, no on else was having food. Our waiter did stop by after about 25 minutes to let us know that they hadn't forgotten us, they had just gotten completely slammed. Went inside to go to the bathroom - it was dead, so I'm not sure which part of the bar was slammed. We finally got our food in a bag, walked back to our hotel (maybe five minutes), and opened our boxes to find that both burgers were made with mushrooms and Swiss (we had only ordered one with mushrooms). Since one of us is allergic to mushrooms, I called the bar and asked for a manager. I was told there wasn't one there, so I told the guy that we had just gotten food from them and one of the orders was wrong. I asked him if someone could run a new burger out to us since we were right around the corner, or would we have to come back up there. He said everything was shut down, so neither. I said "You're kidding me, that sucks". He said "Yeah, I know. Goodnight." And hung. Up. The fries were completely cold and soggy. The burger was wrong and an actual health issue for the person it was intended for. The food took a ridiculous amount of time to get, but all of that could have been forgiven. Until your superstar employee was shockingly rude on the phone. Great location, cool setup, but you might want to work on your staffing issue. Don't worry about responding, I'm just another out-of-towner, but I'm definitely not coming back or recommending your place to anyone. read more

GREAT LUNCH! We were in Cody for the weekend and decided to have burgers and beer here, based upon glowing reviews. Add ours to the list! My husband and I shared a burger (more than enough) and it was terrific, as were the "fried chips" - thick cut potato chips. We are middle aged, and to our very pleasant surprise, the young staff was extremely friendly and efficient. We sat at the bar and had nice conversations with the servers and the cooks. Visited the saloon the other day for lunch. All four of us ordered a hamburger and beers. Each had a different type of burger. All the burger were good and hot and done correctly. The problem is that the waiter was an air head. He couldn't get the fries or onion rings on the correct burger. When he checked his writing on the order paper he was wrong.
