The food is good but very pricey. After being seated and giving menu my server disappeared fever 15 minutes then returned appearing frazzled and apologized for the extraordinary absence. I ordered a cup of tomato bisk soup, spinach garlic side, the veggie salad and an iced tea - $28.58 - ouch!!! The soup was good, as was the salad but neither was fantastic. No real taste without feta or blue cheese. I ordered the salad without dressing as I'm not a fan of any vinegarette. I asked for plain vinegar. My salad arrived drenched in vinegarette, I refused it. The second try had it right. With the server's disappearance, the salad being wrong, my having to ask for a napkin three times and then getting a stack I didn't need or ask for, I'm guessing it's not the server's best evening. Perhaps she's overwhelmed with tables to take care of? Working overtime? I recommend this place but not to come to often unless you can afford it. read more

What happened to Silver Diner? I remember coming here as late as 2018 and finding good meals cheap.... Not anymore. They have obviously made a major business shift and switched the logic. Now it seems like very drab meals that are overpriced and overhyped I don't know about you, but when I come to a diner, I have an expectation of being able to order simple items at reasonable prices, as well as a few complex meals.... I no longer categorize this Silver Diner as a diner in the traditional sense. Most meals, including a simple plate of waffles for example, are nearly $20! A milkshake is almost $10! Burgers around $16.... If you look at the menu, you'll find all kinds of overhyped meals, but what comes out is not worth double the expense, and the quality has actually declined. Let's just call this place what it is: an overhyped restaurant that looks like a diner.... It ain't no diner though. You want specifics? The worst thing at our table was the Baja Fish Tacos. They looked limp and had zero flavor. The pre-packaged Chicken Pot Pie was just sad, had maybe two chunks of chicken, wasn't a flaky crust at all, and needed A LOT of seasoning. The bowl of Turkey Chili was similarly lame. It was basically Cincinnati style, no chunks of anything, just a blended red mess.... the crumbled saltine crackers offered the only texture.... The staff is friendly enough. I would categorize the decline as a management and menu fail. If you want a real diner experience locally, try Mountain View Diner, Masser Toll House Inn, or even the Airways Inn at the Frederick Airport. They all have good food at good prices. read more

A must-visit, especially after a night out. My partner and I made Silver Diner a Sunday tradition after working all day at Saturday weddings, and it's such a treat. Their food is spectacular - my personal faves are the Oaxaca omelet and the country scrambler, with their yummy wheat toast. Their fruit is always fresh, too. This is an rather unique sort of diner, with an emphasis on locally sourced healthy eating that tastes great. It is also pretty easy to get to if you are driving through the area on the interstate. It is a bit more expensive than a typical diner, but no more expensive than eating at one of the many nearby chains. They also have a full bar, which you do not usually find in diners. I have been there a few times for breakfast and it has always been great. I had an appetizer, coconut curry tofu, and crabcake entree. I loved the tofu, great flavor and well made. The crab cake was not so great, more breading than I like. But then every place makes them different. I have had their milk shakes before, and while I love them, they are a bit pricey. When on a road trip I always make sure I find a place that isn't a chain restaurant to stop at and eat (or at least one that I think isn't a chain restaurant). I was in the mood for diner food and decided that this might be the best option in the area. Pulling up it looked like it was extremely busy, this gave me a bit of hesitation, but I went in anyway. I had a brief wait at the hostess station, but that was due to other customers in there before me. I decided that sitting at the counter would be best for me. Once seated I was greeted by the lady working the counter and given a menu. I actually enjoy sitting at the counter. You get a glimpse of the kitchen and you get to see how efficient they work. All the employees seem to enjoy what they do and like the people they work with. After a quick scan of the menu I decided on the Black Angus Meatloaf. I was able to change out the corn for more vegetables which made me happy. With this you get your choice of soup or salad. I went with the Mixed Green Salad. This salad was a great way to start the meal. The ratio of vegetables was even and the dressing was just enough to have a covering on everything in the bowl. The croutons were probably my favorite in there, nice and crunchy. Then it was onto the main course. I love me some meatloaf. They do not skimp here. It is a thick slice of a half pound of meatloaf that you get. Covered in brown gravy and then topped with crispy onion straws. Nice serving of mashed potatoes and the vegetable blend was quite alright with me. That meatloaf sure hit the spot, very flavorful and with that gravy on it, man was it mouthwatering. I couldn't stop dreaming about that gravy. It was amazing and made everything it touched taste better. The vegetable blend was on point and of course you know I loved the mashed potatoes. There wasn't anything left on my plate when I was finished. I truly enjoyed that meal and was glad that I found this place. Right before I left I had asked the lady working the counter about nearby places to pick up items I forgot to give to me. She told me about several around the area and directions to each one of them. A breakfast staple that you can get during pretty much any hour. Always delicious, prompt, with great employees. I always enjoy the atmosphere. They also have an extensive list of alternatives for those that don't want breakfast, rather lunch or dinner. I have lived in both Virginia and Maryland and both locations have been on point every time. My boyfriend and I love going when we want breakfast for dinner (or actually breakfast) orders are completed very quickly so it's hot and fresh every time. When I place it to go order, it is also ready on time if not earlier. French Toast Scrambled Eggs Seasonal Also a huge fan of waffles. I went to the Silver Diner with my boyfriend and his family! Everything we had was delicious! The resturant has a old town diner type feel, with older music playing and red booths. There were seven of us so we had a larger booth to ourselves. I ordered the traditional Eggs Benedict and my boyfriend ordered the western omelet. I really enjoyed my meal, I like how they put a lot of the hollandaise sauce on the Benedict because some diners do not do that. My boyfriend described his western omelet as a typical western omelet you would get at any diner. The omelet wasn't great but it wasn't terrible either. It was just OK. We also split three HUGE chocolate chip pancakes that were pretty good. The only thing I didn't like about them was that they were a bit dry. Was invited here a few weeks ago by a professional associate and was surprised she picked a "diner". It was not what I was expecting! So many fresh options for all diets including salads, bison burger, seafood and breakfast ALL day. Just took my husband back for dinner and enjoyed a huge western omelette with a glass of Malbec.
