I adopted a sweet Maltese puppy in 2017. Unbeknownst to us, she had coccidia and giardia. She was examined by our vet and tests were taken. However, she had a seizure from low blood sugar from the parasites that night. I was determined to save her and spent $18k dosage her life. She was ill for 6 months. I purchased my wonderful Maltese from Tammy in 2012. She is very small, about 4 pounds , beautiful eyes, pigment, and temperament. She was expensive, required a flight from Pennsylvania, and I waited, at Tammy's recommendation, about 16 weeks before bringing her home. I have known Tammy at Silver Brook Maltese for many years. I have visited her home and seen her develop the Maltese breed with passion, care and love. Her puppies are her number one concern. I was very surprised and saddened to see this attack on Tammy and Silver Brook Maltese. Over the years, Tammy has bred top champion Maltese. She is very intuitive and when a prospective client calls, she assesses them as adoptive parents for her babies. If they try to rush or push the process, she will decline to sell them a puppy. This has annoyed a few people and they have chosen to leave negative reviews. After reading some of the reviews, I question whether some are from a competitor? Many happy and satisfied clients over the years have stayed friends with Tammy and bought additional puppies from her. Some are elderly and can't navigate the Yelp review process. I have always found Tammy to go out of her way to be fair and resolve issues immediately. I will tell you if she didn't respond quickly to a call, she was fighting for her own life a while back and that could explain the delay in answering. I have observed her hand feeding puppies and staying up all night with a pregnant Mama. If your looking to buy a Maltese--hands down, I highly recommend Silver Brook Maltese. I've been looking for a third Maltese for some time now. When I saw a picture of Lolly on the website, it was love at first site--I had to have her. I emailed Tammy right away and that same day she contacted me and we spoke directly on the phone. Tammy answered the many questions I had about Lolly. It was obvious she was a very experienced, caring and loving breeder that knows exactly what she is doing. Since I live in Massachusetts, I was planning to fly to Pittsburgh to meet Lolly. Tammy suggested using a highly reputable dog nanny to bring Lolly to me in Boston. It was the best thing ever! Transporting Lolly to Boston with the dog nanny could not have gone smoother. Prior to Lolly's arrival, I emailed Tammy several times with questions about Lolly. I wanted to be sure I was well prepared for my new baby. Tammy always responded the same day. She made me feel assured that everything was going to go well. When Lolly arrived, I just melted. She was so precious. And most importantly, she was very healthy. It's been three weeks since Lolly arrived, and the transition has been going extremely well. Never having owned a dog, Tammy walked me through what I could expect and plan for as a pet owner. I am delighted to say our little pup purchased in December of 2018 is doing wonderful. Very sad and disheartening to witness what should have been an enjoyable, family addition experience... into one where the Silver Brook franchise is clearly arranged for outrageous profit and appears to have a lineage of very closely related and over bred offspring. (As evidenced by prior health complaints..re eye, patella, etc.). To be willing to invest $5,000, plus expenses and be disappointed is outrageous. Love of the breed? More like "love of the profit". "Don't ask me for discounts" is your first red flag. A breeder shouldn't "rip a pup from it's mother" at 4 wks., However, refusing to release it until after 3 months old is also contra indicated... by then the pup had become attached to their surroundings and nearing maturity. To me, the breeder is looking for congenital issues that won't come back to haunt them later. I neutered my male at 4.5 months & he still "humps" because he was entering puberty and retained it. Also, a dog that cowers after relieving itself has had obvious negative response to it by it's breeder. A good year for him to adapt to environment change with constant human companionship & love. Might as well have been a rescue. This is why we need stricter laws and scrutiny into puppy mills and control of breeders and their breeding. My advice: research Maltese rescue programs instead. read more

Please stay away from this breeder. Tammy is the WORST! I purchased a male Maltese from her that has several issues with his pigmentation and size. He was supposed to be a miniature and is 10 inches longer than he should be. I have tried to talking to her, but she tells one lie after another and even went as far as saying that the pictures I was sending her wasn't the dog I purchased from her. This is the 4th Maltese that I have owed and I have never had issues with any of the other ones. It was the first time she bred the mother and I now have a Maltese that has black skin! Anyone who knows this breed knows that they are a pink skin dog! I called to see if he was still available, it was right before Christmas, she told me to come that night. We did. She was having a dinner party and her granddaughter was jumping and screaming in the pen with all of the puppies. I wanted to leave, but my husband was already holding the dog we went to purchase. She was so nasty to me because I didn't bring cash and she doesn't take credit cards. She NEVER told me that when I called. She then proceeds to trying to use my credit card with paypal. She had no idea what she was doing and was rushing to get me out of there. She told me to just send her a check because the payment didn't go through! I walked in to 2 voicemails from the fraud department of PayPal and she charged me TWICE. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE with her and still trying to resolve these issues with the BBB and my attorney. Buy Beware!! Tammy promised to refund my money for my puppy which was only a year old which I had to have 2 surgery already on. One was her very bad tearing, she had ingrown eyelashes and was squinting constantly cost $2500.00. Next was her "2" knees luxating patellas which were was a 3 month recovering period and physical therapy $3,700.00. Tammy is now stating her lawyer after she promised to refund my $3500 for my puppy that I sign a waiver that patellas are not under her guarantee. This is a genetic disorder, which I had sent her a video months before surgery as I was concerned why this would all of sudden happen. No idea what it is was her reply. When I took her to the vets and was told this is common when they keep breeding dogs with this genetic order it is common. Tammy tried to say I could of dropped her, she could of fallen, or jumped off the furniture.... I am with her 24/7 as I am self employed and she goes everywhere with me. I have messages and emails with videos from Tammy. She would not respond until I sent my first post. She was extremely upset, and told me she would pay me for what I purchased my puppy for. BTW- she was supposed to be only 5lbs, she is almost 7lbs. and not overweight just a bigger girl. I gave Tammy money months before she was even born as I wanted a smaller female, which I was told she should not weight more than 5lbs. Beware of Tammy. BUYER BEWARE!!!!!! I called the owner of Silver Brook Maltese (Tammy) and requested to purchase two female puppy maltese....On or about October 21, 2017 i agreed to purchase two female puppies named Lucy and Laila...... To show good faith in my purchase, i agreed to fly from New York to Pittsburgh for the weekend November 3,4,5, to meet the puppies and to pay for the puppies.....I booked my flights for myself and my girlfriend, including hotel accommodations and car transport.....I invested over 2500.00!!! Immediately, i forwarded my Itinerary for my trip via email to Tammy as proof that i was coming......On or about October 23, 24, 25 I tried to contact Tammy on numerous occasions via telephonically, email, and text, but NEVER received any response..... I was getting quite concerned, since Tammy ALWAYS returned my calls.....Finally, on or about October 26, i get a text from Tammy stating that the deal was off!!! In a flash , i had come to the realization that i had just been screwed in the deal- i lost the two puppies i had been promised by Tammy to purchase, and i was out over 2500.00 for the hotel and transportation to go see the puppies......My advice: DO NOT DEAL WITH SILVER BROOK MALTESE.......THE OWNER IS VERY DECEITFUL......SHE WILL SMILE IN OYUR FACE, AND STAB YOU RIGHT IN THE BACK!!!! read more
