Arion Trantos aka Arty scammed me on June 29th, 2020. I found Arty's Garage on Google and based on…read morehis good reviews, I texted him about fixing my 2014 Honda Civic car. He called me and told me to bring my car to 1081 Mace Avenue in the Bronx at 1pm. At about 1pm, my husband and I drove over to Mace Avenue and we met Arty. I informed him that I needed a diagnostic on my engine because it "sounded rough", my DRL system fixed (Daytime Running Lights), find out why my Airbag light is on, and find out why my TPMS light is on (tire pressure monitoring system). He said it would cost $90 for the diagnostic and $100 for parts upfront. He also said I should leave my car with him all day and to pick it up at 6:30pm. He said he would text me in an hour to let me know the diagnosis was and that he was going to send photos and videos throughout the day to let me know what he was doing to my car. He also said that he would let me know what parts were needed so that I could send him money for it. I thought this was a little weird and I was hesitant, but he seemed nice and based on his google reviews I decided to trust him. I paid him $200 in cash and left him my car. At about 3pm he texted me and told me that he did the diagnostic and that no engine codes came up. He also said that my TPMS light was on because the sensor in the wheel was missing and the airbag light was on because the driver side airbag was "broken". I told him I would order the parts myself and we would fix these issues on another day when the parts come in. I thanked him and told him can I pick my car up now. BUT he told me he needed to replace my spark plugs, do a fuel injection, and do a throttle body service and that I should bring another $250 because that's how much it cost. I asked why it cost that much and he never answered me. At 6:30pm I went back to 1081 Mace Avenue to pick up my car and I asked for receipts for the parts and the service. He said no because he "lost the receipts". He said that he fixed my engine and that it no longer is making noise and that the car is perfect so I needed to pay him $250 to get my car back. I trusted what he said, paid him, and I took my car back. Later that night, I googled how much the parts were and the service he did to my car and it only came out to less than $100. By that time, he also called me and said he left his keys in my car, but I told him I was already home and that I was not going all the way to that part of the Bronx. He asked for my address so he could come get his keys, so I gave him my address. He arrived to my address at 9pm to pick up his keys and I asked him AGAIN to provide me with receipts and a list of the services he did to my car because I believed he overcharged me. He started arguing, screaming at me, and cursing at me. He also threw bottles of car fluids at me. I told him that he did not need to scream at me or act that way and that he was being unprofessional. I asked for my money back and he said he was not going to give it back to me. Then I asked him if he could finish fixing what I paid him to do. He said that he would fix it in the morning. It is 2 days later and Arty never came to fix my car and he texted me saying that "he was not fixing shit". Arty took advantage of me and scammed me. I make a honest living and earn hard earned money as a teacher. I am not a mechanic, so I trusted his word. But he scammed me of $450 and did not provide any of the services to my car that I requested. BEWARE OF ARTYS GARAGE!!!!!! HE WILL SCAM YOU AND YOUR MONEY!!!! I will let the police and courts deal with him.

That's why every time I visit an auto repair shop it's with a heavy heart and always leave with a much lighter wallet. Enter Ralph. I ran over a small screw and instead of going to Firestone (because I don't know any better), and this time I went to Ralph since he's only a few blocks away. Turns out the screw didn't even puncture my practically bald tire. He took it out, didn't charge me a cent, and sent me on my way. Coincidentally I had a bunch of repair that I needed to get done on my car that I had been putting off because I just hadn't had the time. I had a good feeling about Ralph's place so I dropped my car off and had a ton of work done. The entire brake system, and front suspension links. He also troubleshooted my AC. Didn't even charge me for a tire replacement or taking a look at my AC which turned out to only need some freon. The prices were very fair. This is the first time I've been to a car repair shop where I didn't feel like I was ripped off. Ralph you have a customer for life. I'll be bringing my and my wife's car to you from now on, and will be referring you to my friends and family.

DON'T BE FOOLED! ASK FOR MANDI, AVOID LUCKY!…read more I wish to take this opportunity to shine a little light on the reason this shop has a dark reputation: The guy that is usually found sitting at the counter, who goes by the alias "Lucky", pretends to have an automotive education, and to know how to work on cars when he, in fact knows as much as a person working in an ice cream shop. He has a dirty habit of scaring unsuspecting customers into agreeing to bizarre services and unnecessary replacement of parts. Lucky is downright untrustworthy. He will lie and cheat whoever he can, he'll do it with a smile on his face, convince you that everything will be sorted out without a hitch. Since he doesn't know how to diagnose cars, he is simply talking out of pocket. Trying to get you to agree to some sort of sale. When you do find yourself at this service station, you MUST ASK for MANDI, who is the HEAD MECHANIC. Ask to take a test drive with the mechanic, so that he experiences your concern. If your CHECK ENGINE LIGHT comes on, have him look at the car first. Don't let Lucky near your car with his little scanner. The shop is well equipped to handle the needs of various cars, Asian, American & European. Perform inspections, alignments, tires, brakes, fluid services, etc. The PROBLEM is simply that Lucky doesn't care for anything other than making as much money off you with the least amount of effort. P.S. While you're there, check out Anthony's Auto Detailing. Right outside of this shop, usually found in the canopy.

Fellow residents of Whitestone please heed my warning, stay away from this place…read more You will be scared into buying parts you don't need and charged 3-30x what the parts actually cost. (they wanted to charge $60 for a gasket, Rofl. Found the same one on ebay for $2). Same thing for an iac valve that i didn't even need (I'll go into detail shortly). The valve is $80 they said it was a $400 part because "no one had it"... first link on Google was 80 bucks free shipping. They will try to take you for everything they can. I brought my car for 1 oil change and suddenly I began having idle issues and throwing a check engine light after getting my car back from them. I go back and ask what they think the problem is. This is where they tell me I need a new iac valve that will cost 700 dollars including labor. With my bullshit detector ringing loud in the back of my head I ask how much the part is, that's where they tell me 400 bucks. After checking the actual price of the part ($80) I put 2 and 2 together and got the hell out of there. After WEEKS of trouble shooting my vehicle doing everything from checking & cleaning valves, throttle bodies, checking for faults in the wiring and nearly resetting my ecu, I discover a tiny little valve that seems to be missing a little rubber cap. Those ******* bastards removed the cap to create a small and inconspicuous vacuum leak that would force the cars computer to throw that code. They were going to pocket the entire 700 without even buying or replacing the part by putting the rubber cap back on. I bought a pack of the caps I needed for 25 cents, put it on, and the car has been running mint for months now. I'm so sick that this scum is allowed to have a 'business' in my town.
