Silver Airways is the WORST airline I have flown on in the past twenty years. When I made my reservation on Silver Airways flight 115 from Bimini to Fort Lauderdale the scheduled departure time from Bimini was 11:06AM. This gave me a three hour window to make my connection with a United flight from Fort Lauderdale to Denver. A few weeks before my flight Silver Airlines changed their departure time from Bimini to 1:20PM reducing my connection window to approximately one hour. Three times I e-mailed Silver Airways customer services asking for help getting me a new connection. ALL of my e-mails went UNANSWERED. It gets worse. Despite the new minimal one hour connection time, we decided to risk it even knowing we would have to go through customs and security in Fort Lauderdale. My connecting tickets were non-refundable so I had little choice. When checking in at Bimini we informed the Silver Airways gate agent of out tight connection resulting from Silver Airways moving their flight departure time by over two hours. She said she would make sure our carry-on luggage was last on so it would be first off. As it turns out, this makes NO difference with Silver Airways arrival procedure. Despite having arrived in Bimini on time, the flight was over 30 minutes late leaving! The reason was because for the staff stood around the plane discussing how much luggage they were able to put onboard. Obviously one would not want an overweight plane however the ground crew had over an hour to address this issue before the plane even got to Bimini. It gets much worse. We now only had only 30 minutes to make our connection in Ft. Lauderdale. Thankfully the flight time was minimal and uneventful. BUT when we pulled up to our gate, everyone had to board a bus to get to customs. That meant that the bus couldn't leave until everyone had their carry-on luggage. NOT ONLY THAT, the bus driver decided he would transport incoming passengers from another Silver Airways flight that had arrived about the same time. So we had to wait for them to board the bus with their carry-on luggage. It gets still worse and worse. The bus needs to travel from one of terminal 1 to the other end. Half way there the bus driver stops to wait for a plane that is parked awaiting its gate. And we wait, and we wait and we wait. All of the other airport vehicles traveling on this same route, in both directions drive around our bus and pass in front of the parked aircraft. But our driver sits there for 20 minutes before finally deciding he can finish the last 100 yards to the customs entrance. I certainly can accept planes being delayed for emergencies and safety but Silver Airways is incompetent and has absolutely NO commitment to passenger service. Their slogan should be "WE DON'T GIVE A DAMN!" Skip the shark dive in Bimini if you have to use Silver Airways. read more

Have emailed 10 times in 17 days...NO RESPONSE NO REFUND I am emailing concerning the absolutely horrible experience that was encountered with my flight yesterday. My name is Heather Straub. My Reservation Code was AULXRS for the horrible experience of flight 60 from TPA-PNS. While I understand that you cannot control the weather, the way that the issue was handled was horrible. IF and WHEN you could actually get someone to answer the phones (which was not often), we were given a run around. There were many other flights and airlines that did actually fly to Pensacola all throughout the day yesterday, while we were stuck sitting in Tallahassee. When we asked about being switched to one of those flights, we were told no that we could not switch airlines until our flight was officially cancelled. Well of course, we continued to delay and delay and delay. And by golly, as soon as all other flight options had gone out for the night, CANCELLED. Imagine that!?! And then you use the whole act of god and weather as a reasoning. Well that is garbage because all of those other flights went and landed at Pensacola, and I could have had the opportunity to get home but you dragging it out KNOWING that you were going to eventually cancel left me absolutely stranded. This whole situation cost me a ton of money. In summary: $45 in food and beverages (and no I did not have any alcohol) for the day at the crazy expensive airport prices. Apparently some of the other passengers received vouchers for food but because I could never seem to find anyone at the counter (which I sat right next to all day long) I had to pay out of my own pocket. $75 to do an emergency boarding for my pet back home. A full day of lost wages and had I not encountered the following expenses, I would have missed yet another day of wages today. Because Silver Airways could care less how I was going to get from Tallahassee to Pensacola. So, as I am sure you are aware, there was ABSOLUTELY NO rental cars available whatsoever. NONE. So my only options late at night when you finally cancelled was to take a greyhound bus. Bought that ticket for $40 and was warned by the local police officer that I should NOT go wait at the bus station and most definitely NOT go there until right before my bus as it is completely unsafe. GREAT for a single travelling female. Oh and don't let me get started on the luggage....WHICH I STILL DO NOT HAVE and cannot seem to get ahold of anyone at the airport. Convenient. So you will most definitely be reimbursing me the $35 for my luggage. And if that bag is not found, that will be an entirely different email. The baggage claim number is 449 3M425302. Someone needs to figure out where it is. Seeing how I was told last night (as I sat in Tallahassee) that my luggage was headed to Pensacola. Funny that I COULD NOT get to Pensacola, but my luggage could. Well guess what, I made that 30 minute commute to Pensacola for my luggage this morning and there was no sign of it. I have called all numbers given to me to try and reach someone at the airport and again, NO ONE answers and NO ONE returns a call. So after all of the hours and hours of this nonsense, the rental car agencies tell me that if I wait until after 10pm, they would know if they had any no-shows or cancellations. And what do you know, by the grace of god, Avis did have a cancellation. So I also paid $70+ for a rental car. And another $20 to refill the fuel that I used getting home. After heading to the Tampa airport at 4:30am yesterday and sitting in airports all day, I finally arrived home around 2am this morning, driving over 3 hours on no sleep. But it definitely beat the alternative of riding a greyhound bus. DO NOT FLY SILVER!! read more

ZERO STARS. Avoid by all means!!!!! This was the worst experience and customer service in my life. My husband and I traveled to St. Croix using this airline as a birthday gift for myself. When we arrived at the airport, the airline misplaced BOTH of our luggage. When we tried to get assistance at the check in desk the Supervisor there named Wayne Carby was very dismissive and seemed to not even care. I told him that I left my medication in one of the bags, and his response was "Oh well go to the nearest clinic". This was the most disrespectful thing I have ever dealt with in my life. He was belittling to myself and my husband. We ended up not getting our luggage until 2 days later, which only occurred due to having to call over 50 times to the customer service line. They gave us no compensation for the time lost from them misplacing our luggage. The plane was super small with no real assistance from the staff. If you could avoid this airline, please do. This was one of the worst experiences I have ever dealt with in my life. I give this airline ZERO stars. read more

Maybe rated one star on a good day. Reserved through Expedia, Recieved 3 different confirmation numbers. This outfit only uses paper boarding passes, no 21st century benefits here. Key West Airport has nowhere to charge a phone unless you pay for it. Trust me you will need to charge because this airline is the worst for on time performance. We are now at 3 hours delay. Meanwhile United and Delta left on time with happy customers. So many on our flight have been missing connections, etc. a With just a shrug of the shoulder and a smile. Straight up, this airline is the least professional and LEAST efficient company I have ever interacted with. My friends and I had a flight delayed 5+ hours without any announcement about changes. They never posted updates on the billboards and not on their website. We physically had to beg the poor folks (who obviously were not informed on shit) to call the airline to give us updates. I wish I could rate them a negative number! I would never use this airline again. I have booked this airlines twice. The first time we were delayed three plus hours due to " mechanical issues". I gave them one more try, I shouldn't have! Our flight was delayed again without any ideal when and if it will take off. They put us in acab which will cost them about $550. But they wouldn't let us rent a $50 car , not to even mention we have missed our connecting flight. Her answer was we are only obligated to get you to the first airport. It is now costing my husband and I am extra $300 each to get home. Don't fly this airline no matter the extra savings! Shame on them for leaving us stranded! read more

If i could give it less I would. The crew here in Key West claimed the whole Fort Lauderdale airport was closed-- however other flights were going in and out. And it wasn't posted on the FAA website. They then switched our flight without our consent to "accommodate" us. And immediate gave our seats away. I had to leave the terminal to get our checked bags from them to bring to another airline. They forgot my TSA precheck # when I went back through security for the second time today. They also apparently don't know how to do a refund, so now I have to figure out how to get my money back for my baggage fee. The associate who was supposed to call me when he had it figured out never did. I had to chase him down when he was on break getting a soda so he could give me a contact number to call. I've now spent my whole Fourth of July holiday inside Key West International airport. read more

Vicki Forster, the employee at the gate, was beyond unprofessional and rude. She was giving attitude to anyone that asked her a question. She yelled at me when I asked why I was on stand-by when I had paid for a tickets months ago. Her only response was that the last 10 people to check in are placed on stand by. When I asked why the girls that checked in after me were not on standby but I was she raised her voice and told me I was repeating the same question over and over again. Awful customer service. Rude and incredibly unprofessional. The flight attendant was also rude and snapped at someone on the flight before take off. Then she did not even know our flight number. Dear IAN CRAFT (Silver Airways, Regional Director, Florida), As a regular airline passenger I've come to understand that a lost bag, a delayed flight, and most problems will sometimes occur. However, the unbelievably appalling customer service i received from VICKI PATTERSON in the Key West Airport is something that you should evaluate. From a small dispute over my 2 day lost bag, VICKI PATTERSON managed to yell at and berate me in the airport as if i was a child. She openly laughed at me, told me i could "deal with it," and said i would need to drive back to the airport multiple time to check if my bag had arrived. She never once offered simple assistance in locating the bag, other than telling me when the next airlines were arriving at the KW Airport. As for the $25 bag fee, she once again laughed with a shrug and a, "There's nothing i can do about it". I failed to write down the 2 other members of the Silver Airways staff that were having a conversation about dildos, masterbating, and blowjobs while i waited 1 hr and 37 minutes for VICKI PATTERSON to come to the desk to speak with me about my bag. I wanted to bring to your attention the conduct of your employee, just i would like to have done if the conduct of my own employees fell to this appalling level. If zero stars were an option I would be giving it. If any of you ever book flights, DO NOT book with SILVER AIRLINES. They are garbage. Booked with them for my dad's trip to the keys. On his way here, he lost an entire day because he was stuck in Tampa airport for 11 hours without an excuse as to why they delayed the departure time 5 times. Now, as he's trying to get home, his first departure time was delayed 20 minutes for no reason. Now he's in Tampa trying to make it home for a funeral of an unexpected death. 3:45pm departure time? Nope, changed to 5:45pm. Guess what! They just changed it AGAIN to a 8:00pm departure time. For what reason? NONE!!! Pretty terrible airline. Had a 920am flight delayed to 4pm. They 'had balancing issues' so they removed a paying customer from the flight and put him on a later one (likely also delayed by multiple hours). No offers to incentive someone to voluntarily give up a seat, just "you, you checked in last, get off the plane". Avoid like the plague. read more

Dumpster fire of an airline. Everything mentioned in every other negative review (which are the only reviews they received - for good reason) is true. I was supposed to be home last night at 9:00pm. I just got home now, 12 hours later the next day. My friend on a previous flight experienced the same difficulties due to their nonsensical delays. He just now got home, the next day. The people at the ticket counter have very little idea of what they are doing and on top of that they operate on the same slow "island time" BS as everyone else down there. Slow slow slow slow slow with no regard for the nightmare they are putting people through - I'm talking about dozens of people in line trying to figure out what to do because Silver ruined their trips home. They don't care, they don't even pretend to care because they know there is nothing else you can do. In my experience, everything they told me was wrong. I had to spend the night in Orlando because I was supposed to be missing my connection due to their willy nilly delays. We got to Orlando with 15 mins to spare but couldn't get on our original flight because Jet Blue already gave our old seats away. Had to spend the night in Orlando and miss work in the morning FOR NO REASON AT ALL. If I ever go to Key West again (and trust me this experience has soured us on visiting ever again) I will do everything I can to avoid having to use this "airline". How a company like this stay in business is beyond me. read more

Silver Airways left us and many other passengers with no answers for almost 12 hours. My husband and I, along with other people on our flight and other flights, were left with no answers from 11:00 until 10:00 pm. All day we were receiving text updates that told us our flight time was delayed for another 1-3 hours only for them to cancel the flight at the latest possible time which was 8:00 because no flights leave ELH after 8:00 pm. We then stood in line for a little over 2 hours waiting to rebook and find help. The attendants did not seem to care that there were people stranded in a sparsely populated area so late at night and offered little to no help. The people in front of us were told there were no more hotel rooms to book and offered no help after that. They issued "vouchers" that many vendors did not accept which left people without transportation, shelter, food, etc. We were fortunate that we had a friend to stay with for the night but almost missed the taxi back to the ferry due to the lack of urgency from the attendants. Because of this we were standing in a remote area alone very late at night with all of our valuables, a very unnerving situation for us without cell service or any real help. Silver booked us a flight out of Nassau with JetBlue which we gladly accepted to avoid this nightmare the following day but we had to pay for the flight to Nassau from ELH. I reached out to customer service to be refunded the flight we had to purchase and was told it could be up to 60 days for my email to be addressed. Some friends of ours who were also on our original flight that had been cancelled were not so lucky and they were delayed hours past their promised departure time again today and another Silver flight was cancelled leaving even more people stranded without answers. This disaster caused a domino effect of people missing their connections with other airlines and being delayed indefinitely. In all my years of traveling I have never experienced something like this. Silver Airlines should not be in business, what they did to all their passengers who trusted them to take them home was wrong and when it was time to fix it they couldn't be bothered. One of the attendants was actually bothered that passengers were asking him to help them find shelter for the night and a way home the following day. This is wrong and Silver should not be trusted by anyone, you may find yourself in a scary situation. read more

Silver Airways is horrible. The flight was booked through Expedia and I was given no notice from anyone that I apparently had to reserve specific seats next to my family (I instead, understandably, assumed that by booking my wife and daughter at the same time, we would be put next to each other..). wWhen I did try to manage the reservation through Expedia, and even through Silver Airways, I had no option of controlling the seats assigned. Instead, upon arrival at the airport, I was told we were given three separate seats (my daughter is eight years old and I was not about to have her sit by herself). The flight out for the vacation (Tampa to Key West) was one fiasco, but I assumed the same would be true for the flight back home so I called Silver Airways directly and reached a very rude "customer service" representative named Regina, who proceeded to blame me as the customer for waiting too long to choose a seat and said that the airline had control over the seat assigment and that " The flight was booked back in January" insinuating I'm a moron for not magically understanding their backward way of doing things and that it was my fault and it's now too late for them to do anything about it.... She had no empathy and did nothing to correct the situation. Instead, she chose to further anger a customer who was already angry to begin with... Not cool. Here I am with my family on an expensive vacation and having a miserable time because of a lack luster company that does not care about their customers... read more

We got lucky compared to the previous reviews. Left Fort Lauderdale and made it to key west on time! Yes a small plane, we unfortunately didn't get a window so felt claustrophobic and didn't see the views but friendly pilot and flight attendant. That kind of flight is what it is. We'll see how our flight back is. Will ask for earplugs this time. They did what we paid them to do! read more

This flight service is so terrible. How are they still in service. We didn't book through them but our originating flight doesn't fly to key west. Here we are stuck the plane breaks down we get in the filthiest plane to key west. There is literally dirt on the ceiling, floors and seats. Plane was a hour ride but we couldn't use the bathroom. The plane was so loud it was nauseating from the engine sounds. Week later we're leaving key west and their boards say the flight is on time. At the time to board the flight they tell us the flight is delayed a hour and it would take them 30 mins to clean the plane. We're flying to Fort Lauderdale and have to change terminals which means we have to go out the airport walk to the next terminal and go back through security and beat feet to our he next departing gate. I will never fly this airline again I will book a separate airline if they try to connect us through this airline. The silver airlines reputation shows how terrible this airline service continues to be. I'm beyond irritated. Silver airlines really needs to step up its game. Oh and they are not in the 21st century to print a boarding pass as they can not take digital passes. read more

No stars. We booked in Feb 2016 on United for a flight to Key West in Nov 2016. Silver Airways is the local carrier from Florida mainland to Key West. Silver changed their flight times FOUR (4) times since Feb resulting in us having to rework our United flights, adding stops, making for horrible travel days. When Silver made the fourth change, I emailed them and was told to work with United. We had had it at that point and canceled our flights with United and Silver completely. Now we are flying non-stop to Miami and renting a car to drive to Key West. Further, we thought about taking the shuttle from Miami to Key West but I discovered the shuttle company is owned by the same parent company as Silver Airways and has horrible reviews. read more

This was the worst airline I've ever flown!! Canceled flights, delayed flights (hours) lost luggage. Everything that could happen to a customers flying happened to our group. They had us sitting on the runway for 20 minutes in a closed up plane with no air running in 80 degree heat. Just awful. Don't ruined your vacation with this company. Also find them on the Better Business Bureaus website with a F rating and 93 complaints. Seriously hired competent people or do all travelers a favor and close up shop. read more

Vicki forester was by far the worst customer service I have ever encountered. I was put on standby and was not understanding why, she did not answer my question. She immediately got an attitude with me, and the other attendant chimed in with an attitude as well. I asked her to refrain from talking to me with such a tone and she did not like that. After receiving a seat, and we're boarding she did not call seat sequence, so my friends and I went up to the gate and as she scanned our boarding pass made a comment about not being the correct seats and how no one listens. She was rude to any customer she spoke to... oh and our flight attendant didn't even know our flight number, really comforting. Addition a customer threw up on the floor because Their was no bags and the flight attendant gave her paper towels and made her clean it up then handed her the trash bag from the whole flights trash and made her take it with her. Strongly suggest not using silver airways. read more

Geez I should have read all these reviews before giving them my money. Sure enough, I booked 3 months in advance and they cancelled the flight. I think I see a pattern here. This airline is probably in trouble financially . I figure they are taking peoples money, knowing they will not make those flights, then holding that money for months knowing the people only have one number to call, which usually will be answered after holding for 1 hour or more, then you get a poor sap on the phone that keeps you on hold for another hour because they cannot find your information only to come back on and tell you that it is being processed and if you have not received your refund within ANOTHER 10 days to please call back and start the process all over again. This way they get to keep your money for several month, making interest that keeps them afloat for a little while longer until they will eventually go bankrupt the NOBODY gets a refund. DO NOT GIVE THIS AIRLINE YOUR MONEY. You may not get it back. read more

ZERO stars. The Silver employees at the Key West airport have no idea what they are doing and are rude and unhelpful. I don't have the guy's name, but you would know him by his greasy hair and generic tattoo around his arm. When the air space was closed down yesterday due to the Blue Angels practice, this guy told us there was nothing he could do about our missed connection and to just fly to Fort Lauderdale and to "figure it out" knowing that the ONLY flight out of FL the following day was at 6 pm. Really?! He had no interest in doing HIS JOB. At one point he told us how much it helped when customers told him about other flights to look into for solutions with flight delays and missed connections - essentially doing his job for him. Mind you, it was my birthday and the last day of our honeymoon when this went on and his lack of ability to do his job was frustrating, unsettling and down right unacceptable. Thankfully after spending two plus hours on the phone with Silver while being hung up on, put on hold and tossed back and forth between people, a wonderful lady named Olivia got us on a flight out of Key West through Miami and then home to Charleston on American Airlines. Why couldn't the dude at the Silver ticket counter figure this out and save us a lot of stress and anxiety?! Incompetence at its finest. read more

Worst flight experience of my life. I was traveling to key west for a bachelorette party with 13 other women. They lost our bags upon arrival and gave little to no information about the bags whereabouts for over 24 hours. We had to drive back to the airport and ask to speak to someone in order to finally get our bags. On our return trip our flight was canceled due to engine problems with our plane. We missed our connecting flight and had to be rebooked. Our group had to be split up on different flights with much later final destination arrival times. It took so long to get a plane that we we almost missed our rebooked connecting flight. In the time we wasted waiting for Silver Airways to get their act together we could have driven to our connecting flight in Fort Lauderdale. We were also promised food vouchers for the inconvenience that were never received. I would avoid this airline at all costs. They are disorganized, and often set the wrong expectations with little to no explanation. read more

Do not fly this airline! Was scheduled to fly from Key West to Orlando and our flight was cancelled two hours before. No reason given. Got to the airport to figure out another plan and waited over an hour and a half to speak to one of the two people at the counter (meanwhile line is about 20-30 people) and they are having to shuttle people in vans to Miami or anywhere else to get them flights. Were told that there was actually another flight coming to Key West at 2:30 due to the large number of people needing to get out (duh because of all their cancellations and delays) and so we said ok. Waited several hours and the flight started getting delayed ever hour until we were delayed until after 5. At this point, people were lining back up because more flights all over had been cancelled. Waited back in line to basically be told we can't guarantee the flight is even coming and we could MAYBE get you on a flight at 4pm the next day. Given the credibility of the airline and how they clearly cancel flights whenever, we ended up having to pay for a rental and drive 8+ hours to Orlando. Good thing we did too because I checked and our rescheduled flight was delayed several times more until finally being cancelled. It felt like we were on Survivor: Silver Airways Edition. Oh and the kicker-every local we spoke to at our hotel and on the way to the airport after the first cancellation said they never fly Silver because they ALWAYS cancel flights and create a huge mess. Our driver to the airport says Silver Airways cancels flights so often that he stays busy just being paid by Silver Airways to shuttle people to Miami. This airline is a sham. Avoid at all costs. Also-the few other airlines that leave out of there had flights coming and leaving just fine so it can't have been the weather. read more

Probably the worst airline ever! We got to the airport for our 6:00 pm flight and were told it was delayed till 8:50pm making us miss our connecting flight. We came back to the airport for our 8:50 flight only to be told the flight was delayed till 10pm! Then it was delayed to 10:24pm. Come on people! The only good thing is the two nice ladies at the desk who did what they could to help us. The supervisor was useless! Don't fly this airline! read more

worst airline on the planet. i have flown almost 2 million miles and never had such disrespect for my time and such horrible service at an airport ever. the airline was on a partial strike but we were not told this so they jacked us around all day telling us our flight would take off. then they boarded the flight within 30 minutes of bahamas customs closing knowing this but boarding us anyway. flight cancelled on the runway so we had to then go back inside and stand and wait to retrive our luggage. calling did no good to get a refund. i had to stand in line for 5.5 hours (until 12:30am) on top of the 9 hour delay only to be given a $20 food voucher for an airport that was closed since it was 12:30am and it was void the next day yet there were no flights available the next day. they also could not verify a credit for my flight or baggage after i stood in line for 5.5 hours to get a credit. i booked through expedia and was told i needed to call them and then when calling expedia there was no record of me standing in line for 5 hours nor a notation on my ticket # that the flight was cancelled. so now i continue to be jerked around to get a credit for my flight and a baggage credit as well. never again would i give my time to a company that does not have respect for their customers time or money. read more

After a week in Bimini, Bahamas with friends in family, we were scheduled to fly to Fort Lauderdale on Silver Airways. We had hotel rooms booked in Fort Lauderdale for that night and flights booked on a different airline to return home the next day. While waiting at the Bimini airport for our flight, we were continuously told our flight was delayed by 15 minutes. This went on on for a few hours until they finally told us the flight was cancelled. At this point we had no other way off the island as it was too late to make other arrangements. This was the beginning of a very stressful and expensive travel nightmare. 1. We had to pay for an extra night to stay in Bimini 2. Lost the money for the hotels we had booked in Ft. Lauderdale 3. Had to pay to for a boat ride back to Florida, a 2 hour cab ride to Fort Lauderdale, 7 new plane tickets to Canada as we had missed our next flights (difficult to find and expensive as this was the last day of Spring Break). In addition, we returned home a day late missing school and work. For all our stress and the thousands of additional dollars spent? Silver Airways took no responsibility, offered no assistance, support or compensation. Dealing with customer service was so horrible I eventually gave up. read more

Had very unpleasant experience with Silver Airways today. Accidentally booked flight for myself at a different time than my wife's flight, asked to change at the gate- thought this would be "common" request, apparently not. Was told there would be additional charge and that there was a seat, no problem-great! Was then told to call "el cheapo" air or some other third party to book flight cause it would be cheaper going thru third party. Tried to change thru Expedia but was told can't within 6 hrs of flight. Then went to desk and asked just to purchase ticket outright at counter and she said "oh, looks like a crew member booked the seat" and sarcastically said "sorry". Yet my wife sat next to empty seat on way to Tampa! Apparently there were 4 people booked to work this morning for silver but only 2 showed up and somehow that's an invitation to be rude and condescending. Will try to book thru other airlines going to key west in future even if we have to go thru Miami . read more
