There's generally a theme to the different storefronts: women's vintage clothing, funny and lovey-dovey sayings regarding dogs and cats, plastic and silk flowers, dairy and farm, sarcastic sayings, whiskey barrel designs for the men dragged into this place, etc. My wife and I found a whimsical chip and dip bowl. It was nice and will replace one of the blander versions we have at home. Truthfully, there were quite a bit of items that were perfect housewarming gifts and gifts for people who have specific decor tastes. I arrived at 11 am as I thought that is when they opened. Turns out they opened next at 11 am ON WEDNESDAY (yesterday was Monday). I called the number on the door, and one of the owners was there in 10 minutes! I found a gorgeous antique menorah I will treasure. AFTER purchasing it and leaving the store, the owners texted me wonderful information they had researched about the piece without my even asking. The selection at Ravinia Books, Antiques Etc. is excellent but it's not as wonderful as the kindness and knowledge of the owners.

My first time here was today. I only became aware of this event when I heard about it on talk radio…read more- WRMN 1410AM in Elgin, Il. So I went and found many vendors inside the building and few stationed outside the building. Lots of interesting stuff, The majority of the vendors had very fair prices but a few were ridiculous. Some of these sellers have been watching too many episodes of "American Pickers" and they think old rusty tools and old oil cans are made of gold. Besides that, the fairgrounds were clean and free of debris, so wheelchairs could be maneuvered without too much difficulty plus plenty of parking. All in all, it was a pleasant shopping experience.
