I shop at many, many Goodwills, and this is by far my favorite location. They are always fully…read morestocked, neatly organized, and have lots of fun sections. I've always had good experiences with the employees. Today, when the manager was bringing out various rolling racks of clothing, sadly, she had to school the customers on how to behave. It's absolutely ridiculous that some customers are obsessed with attacking the new stuff before it goes on the racks. She had to sternly, yet kindly, request that the patrons take a step back, and reminded them about safety for themselves and the employees. I love that this location has a whole section of cookbooks, and a huge assortment of bagged fun miscellaneous stuff. I always find great things here. The value is hit or miss, and as everyone knows, the prices at Goodwill have gone up but I'm guessing that's a corporate decision. You can still find great deals. You just have to take the time to look.

Yesterday as I turned onto Ridge in Wilmette, a green dinosaur in front of Ray's shop flagged me down & asked where I've been! He & his brilliant friends, peacock & owl, made me laugh--& for a moment I forgot about Covid 19, my husband's stroke, the war in Ukraine, global warming. Who could resist that? A seemingly completely unlimited selection of whatever you never thought you needed but now cannot live without. The owner walked me thru the store showing me wooden tables, measuring to see if it was the right size, and saying "I have this one also..." He was so thoughtful, even offering to build a tabletop top to my exact measurements. Don't miss stopping by this cute store for what he has and what he can build.

The restaurant itself was beautifully decorated and fun to look around at all the artwork. Highly recommend.

If you've read some of my reviews, you may know that I love home decor/interior design shops. I…read morestumbled upon this one whilst wandering downtown Winnetka. It's a nice shop with some lovely items. What drew me in was seeing some nice photo frames when I peeked in the windows; they had some nice ones but not quite what I was looking for. They had 15% off Christmas stuff when I was in but I didn't see anything I needed (and other similar shops I'd visited in Uptown, Andersonville, Wilmette, and even down the street in Winnetka had 40-60% off Christmas items, so it was easy to pass). Staff were friendly and I was greeted by both employees within moments of entering, both happy to help me find anything if needed. If you're looking for a gift, decorating a home, or need advice on either, Madarine Home would not be a bad place to shop. There's a step in order to enter the store, so you may want to call and find out if they have an accessible entrance if you can't manage the step. There's parking all around this shopping district that is free.

Let me tell you David is the man. He can sell anything. He could sell ice to the eskimos. A few…read moreyears ago my parents had a surplus of house hold items to get rid of. They had a set of china with an outdated pattern and some of the pieces had dings, chips or cracks. David was able to get a good price for it even considering what they took for commission. If possible it is best if you can bring any items to him to sell. He will come to you see what you have and assess what you have for no charge; however, if you make arrangements for his people to take your items a reasonable fee will be charged. How it works is David holds auctions on a regular basis and whatever you are selling will be sold at one of these actions. I can't remember if he has them once a month, every other month, or quarterly. So find out when the next action will be and make arrangements to have your selections there. Good Luck!

I am a auction hunter both seller and buyer. I have been to many auction houses throughout Chicago…read moreand the suburbs and I have to say that Pace Auctioneers will not be getting my business at all. Went to an auction this week. Now what they had for auction was really worth going. A lot of really great and unusual items. This is where my praise ends. As I have mentioned I have been to other auction houses around Chicago and a lot of the problems I have seen at those auctions were present here. There was shill bidding going on and I am not the only person who saw it. Plus the prices that some of these items sold for were totally out of the question. What really turned me off was the way the auctioneer handled a particular situation that night with a buyer who had an issue. Instead of taking the time to address it in a professional manner he started to scream and yell into the microphone. Totally unprofessional and a major turn off. There are better auction houses out there where there is no bs and where honest auctions occur. Pass this place.
