Very disappointing. Ordered Lo mein with cabbage and carrots and there was none! Just noodles. If I want just noodles I can get that at the market. Maybe 2 little slice carrots. I have had lo main many time and there is always chunks of cabbage. Too expensive! read more

I placed a mobile order and went inside to receive it. The workers were really nice and made sure to get my food as soon as possible even though it did take an additional 10 minutes to get it. I had the pleasure of dining here while doing my summer research fellowship at the University of South Dakota. The menu was to-the-point. The service was within reasonable time. The staff was extremely friendly; I have some dietary restrictions, but they were very respectful to them and worked to tailor the meal to my needs. The food was excellent; the staff suggested the Vietnamese style for the fried rice to me, and I must say the suggestion was great. I've been going to this families restaurant since they first opened in Vermillion around 1990's. I lived in Korea for a year so was quite happy when they opened up! Silk Road Cafe will not disappoint! The food is fantastic! I have moved to Florida and have yet to find a restaurant to compare! Try the bulgoki. I came in with high hopes, but the food is pretty average. I had an online order pickup and it was out later than the time they told me to pick it up which isn't a problem like I didn't mind waiting. Absolutely incredible night! The food was so fresh, beautiful and tasted amazing! Our table ordered so much and please forgive me for not getting names right - Koren Sampler, Vegan Pancakes, Buns, and Dumplings. Just as appetizers. All passed around and loved! Everyone having a different favorite. Then 12 different entrées. It's a bit pricey but I always have a great meal here. The buffet is reasonable. The service is good. I would definitely recommend.

Was craving Korean and googled to find that this place had some in the menu, finding it in a small town; I was already expecting the food to be Americanized .... and boy was I wrong !!! Bibimbap has crunchy pickled veggies, egg was perfectly cooked with the runny yolk , gochujang sauce was perfect and they even use jasmine rice unlike some other places that uses the cheap white rice. Chop Chae( clear sweet potato noodles) also was very flavorful. Korean Kimchi pancakes has a crispy outside texture and chewy kimchi inside. Korean spicy stew was a perfect spice , not to spicy . Also had Silk Road fried rice to go and they were very pleasant with the serving amount because that box was loaded. My server was great , she checked on us at least 3-4 times , food came out pretty fast too. I had a good experience my first time here , I drove from Sioux City , gonna be back again to try the other food . ! read more

The whole experience was great! Our waiter Olivia was very nice! Had went into this place because a friend has recommended it. So we gave it a shot! I wanted to try everything in their menu since everything looked so good! Everything was great... just except for the Pho, the broth was alright... but it had tasted like it was watered down. Had to put a lot of Siracha & the chili to give it more of a taste. For Pho, they usually have hoisin sauce & lime too. If they would have had those condiments it would have been perfect. But let me say, the satay chicken was the bomb.com. It tasted like an old restaurant that I use to go before they closed down. The pad Thai was cooked to perfection and the Thai curry fried rice was hellla bomb too! But in the end we received our check.. it was a bit pricey for what we had gotten. (Because there is other restaurant that will charge way less for the amount of food we got) but it was an overall good experience! Would come back and try other stuff on the menu. This is easily the best Asian food (they have Chinese, Korean, Thai, even Malaysian dishes) you'll find without driving to Minneapolis or Omaha. And even in those cities I'd go out of my way to eat at Silk Road. And for vegetarians: they'll serve you practically any dish with fried tofu, and this is one of those restaurants that really knows how to do tofu, or try their special breaded tofu in the Princess or General Tso's for a real treat! read more

This is probably the best Asian establishment in Vermillion. That said, it's not authentic...perhaps with the exception of their Korean dishes. Being of Chinese descent, I generally avoid their Chinese dishes. However, in general, they have a great lunch buffet with good variety and is a good value for the price! I really enjoy their kimchi cheggae, jampong, and bi bim bop. Even though pho isn't Korean, they do a good enough job to satisfy my taste buds. Passing through on travels, we appreciated the helpfulness of the staff, who even gave us some local tips. The Korean food was very nice and I was happy to have kimchi! Fresh spring rolls were delicious. All the food I saw coming and going looked excellent and the menu is full of interesting and unique options. As a touring musician, getting quality food and local friendly connection at a restaurant really fills me with satisfaction and joy. Go to Silk Road and you won't be disappointed! This is a beautiful restaurant with historical architecture (check out the wood ceilings), well-lit and comfortable. The desk clerk at our hotel told us the quality of food varies depending on who is in the kitchen, and so maybe we hit it on a good night. It was excellent. We started with fresh spring rolls which had just the right amount of mint to make them pop. I ordered beef Bibimbap (which on their menu is spelled Bibimbop). It was served in the traditional hot stone bowl so the rice at the bottom had a nice crunch. It did come with a fried egg rather than the traditional raw. I probably could have asked for raw and they would have accommodated. The vegetables were fresh and there was a lot of it. The sauce was served on the side so you could season it as you wished. The hubs got General Tsos which of course is different every place you go. This one met with his approval because he liked that it had a bit more breading than some and it was not very sweet - more tangy. We both had spicy soup that had chunks of potato and other vegis. Not sure what is was called, but it was very good. Out server Patrick was helpful and friendly. Overall, a nice meal and a nice atmosphere. read more

Such delicious food! Honestly some of the best Asian food I've had, which I wouldn't expect from a restaurant in small town South Dakota. They have an amazing variety of entrees, all very fairly priced. The wait staff is all extremely helpful and friendly! Can you hear the hallelujah choir? Do you see the fireworks exploding? Fabulous food. Korean, Chinese, Thai, Vietnamese. I was worried the first time I ate there that I would fall to my knees, sobbing with happiness and gratitude, unable to speak. I solved this by not saying a word to anyone.
