My wife and I are here in South Dakota for a wedding and we were researching where to eat when we got to Vermillion, SD. We decided this is the place! We started with the Big A$& Pretzel! Wow!! The actual best pretzel with beer cheese we've ever had!! We also ordered a taco pizza and it was amazing!! Sooooo...let me tell everyone who is reading this...the food was amazing!!! 5 stars for sure!!! HOWEVER, I did have to go up to get us utensils and napkins. Our server never came to ask how everything was and was asking her boss when she could go home when we were still sitting at our table. An employee eating at the bar out of her Tupperware container at the end of the bar in front of the restaurant was a tad interesting....I've been to A LOT of places to eat and found that a little odd (eat your meal from home in the break room! Not in front of the entire restaurant!), I've never seen that before. I do love the atmosphere of this place, the food was amazing...I'm thinking the management might need to tighten up a bit though. This would've definitely been a 5 star review if it wasn't for the lack of customer service and disregard of customers in the restaurant. read more

My daughter, Crissy, and I "loved" spending an evening at Dakota Brick House during our quick trip through Vermillion, South Dakota. The weather was perfect, so we sat outside, enjoyed drinks and appetizers, and met the friendliest people, including our waiter. Sadly, I did not ask him his name, as he was amazing and he deserves a raise. We were there on Saturday, August 10 in the early evening. Everyone who checked on us during the evening exceeded all our goals. On our next visit to Vermillion, I will include the Dakota Brick House just because of the staff and the guests. We ordered a margherita pizza, with hunks of mozzarella cheese, diced tomatoes, chiffonade basil, and house-made pizza sauce to share. Not only was it delicious, it was just the right size for two women to share comfortably. Crissy was in charge of selecting the restaurant, and we both enjoy pub atmosphere. She was drawn to the patio so we only walked through the indoors but I really liked what I saw. read more

We thought we would give this place a go. We ordered the poutine fries, but it lacked enough gravy to finish them. I had the Clucker ( chicken sandwich ) the bacon was very hard and the chicken very dry. She had the brick house burger and substituted the beef patty for a black bean one. She seemed to like it ok. The atmosphere was very pleasant, and we sat outdoors because it was a nice night. Our service was a little lack luster. Our server was very quiet and not very engaging. But she got the job done. It was a Friday night and not that busy. The people around us seemed to be having a good time and enjoying their meals. All in all , a decent place, but I don't think we will be back. read more

The chorizo dip was sweet, it included a sweet can of baked beans. Not a spicy hot dip we were looking for!!!! The beer was good.

This place is almost always overly busy. So that's a good thing in a lot of ways!, except for the waiter to kitchen, communication. Maybe this doesn't happen often, but I ordered a burger and needed to have it on a gluten-free bun because of a genuine food intolerance. Got charged $2-$3 extra for a gluten-free bun, but was given a regular bun which of course I couldn't eat. It was getting close to closing time, so not enough time to remake it for me. The waiter felt bad, and was going to go "yell at the kitchen" as he said. Since it was late and I was tired, I told him I could just bring it home and hopefully my husband would still be awake to eat it. In the end, unfortunately, they didn't even offer to refund me and still charged me extra for the gluten-free bun that I never got anyway. The waiter was very nice but obviously busy since the place was crowded and there is an obvious lack of communication between the waiters and the kitchen with some details. And they obviously need to learn a little more customer service experience. I didn't want to make a big deal about it, but it was frustrating and I ended up paying $20 for a burger I couldn't eat and I was super hungry. So this was just my frustrating. Personal experience. However, this is something that happens more than it should at places that offer gluten-free options. A lot of times the staff isn't trained enough about it, which they should be because food intolerances are super common now. read more

I thought that the Dakota Brick House was a reasonable restaurant that had a big variety of options for food. Pizza, sliders, tacos, burgers, sandwiches, and a few other things are all on the menu. I think this place is closer to a 3.5/5 than a 4 star. This is a good restaurant to have larger groups at due to the wide menu. The prices and service were both solid and the place was very busy at 5:00pm on Friday night. Good: -Carolina pork sliders- I enjoyed the coleslaw and pickles on these the most. The pork itself was slightly above average and there were 3 sizeable pork sliders on the plate. The pretzel bun was a nice touch but I didn't notice it too much. -Fish & Chips- I enjoyed these as well. The batter was not too heavy and the fish was juicy and flavorful. They came with some hush puppies as well, which were very good. Ok/Bad: -The Dirty Clucker (chicken sandwich)- was very forgettable. The battered chicken didn't seem deep fried nor grilled, just kind of something in between. This one was not very spicy and I would not get this again. Mac & Cheese- Was average. I think a different protein other than chicken might have worked a bit better. It's really common, but there's a reason why smoky bacon works in mac and cheese really well. Overall, I enjoyed my experience at the Brick House. Everything was fairly priced and the service was good. read more

Wow, what a find! We came to Vermillion on a whim, as it was one of a few places open for dinner on a Monday within 30 min of Ponca State Park. Really great food. A "simple" cheese pizza was anything but ordinary. Very delicious. The poutine was to die for, cheese curds were still crunchy and gooey inside. Great gravy. Would love to come back. She's a brick....house! Some locals recommended the Brick House. Nice tip. Tacos, sliders, pizza, shareable appetizers, salads and sandwiches. Decent beer selection, but not many local beers...I know there are some good beers from western South Dakota, but the closest brewery on the menu is from Kansas City. I enjoyed a beer flight with some great stouts and an IPA. We started with the chorizo queso dip. Loved the blend of beans and chorizo. Awesome music, mostly older tunes from the 90s and 00s. My husband and I went to Brick House for the first time Wednesday, Oct. 23rd. We were hungry for we got there a little before 8pm. We ordered and after about 50 minutes we noticed many of the tables around us had gotten their food but we hadn't. We asked our waitress if she would check on our order , which she did and told us it would be two more minutes. About 10 minutes later we got served. Our fries were cold and the burgers warm at best. I told the waitress and she said she was only the "server". She offered to get us more fries but we didn't want to wait longer. After eating our burgers it was well after 9pm. Then we then had to wait to get out ticket. Our waitress was busy visiting with a booth of kids and the 2 bar keepers were both busy looking at their phones. Cute place and probably would have been good food but the service and cold food was not good! read more

Food was okay, my sliders were burned, but not terrible. Service was okay What really bothered me was when I ordered my side that came with my sliders. I ordered the sweet potato waffle fries. The menu has nothing indicating an extra charge and the server did not say anything until we asked when we got the check. This is the best restaurant in the Greater Yankton Metropolitan Area. Hands down. We started with the artichoke dip - pretty awesome. Next up, I ordered the chicken bacon florentine pizza, the S/O had their lamb taco special. We all know what they say about pizza - it's great even when it's bad... but this pizza was the kind that Andy Samberg and Justin Timberlake would call their mothers about. The lamb tacos were beyond legit - rivaled the best lamb kebabs I've had in Europe. We wrapped up the meal with the apple tacos - one of the best desserts I've ever had. Have only eaten there once but will try it again. The brisket special was delicious, but for some reason the coleslaw portions we got with our plates were tiny. It tasted great but was two small bites. Beans and corn muffin sides were excellent, as was the meat. Other people in our group had burgers and pizza, which they said were tasty. The homestyle potato chips were very good. High marks for ambience at the main dining room, but we sat in the covered patio area and you could tell it had been used for smokers. Yuck. Amazing place! We have stopped here several times when we are in town to visit our son. This year with the current events, we were a little more careful going out.
