Came in yesterday -- the place was great, the vibe was great, and the food was good too. But I will say, if you're from out of town, please check your bill carefully at the end. Me and my friend came in yesterday around happy hour. We got: Hookah - $35 Two fries - $14 Oxtail egg rolls - $12 Wings - $10 Silk burger - $12 Two shots - $14 Two drinks - $24 That totals about $121. Even with an added 20% gratuity, our bill should've only been around $145. But when we received the bill, it was over $170, which was ridiculous. I'm not sure what was added on, but overcharging people is not okay at all. We came to support your business, and nobody wants to feel taken advantage of. We didn't make a big deal about it at the time -- we paid the bill and still left a tip -- but that's damn near theft. read more

Silk... hmmmm. He planned a cute date night for us to have dinner. We typically try to support black owned businesses and this review is solely so that they will do better. We might have missed the memo on the vibes because we were certainly overdressed. It was a Monday so maybe that played a large part? Let's start with the pro's the food had good flavor but not hot. Which was crazy considering we basically had the spot to ourselves. I ordered the lamb chops & he had the jerk chicken egg rolls. Our waitress was nice but barely interacted with us. She was on her phone and maybe completing some work on a computer at the bar. We had to find her to get the check smh. When we walked in there was an overwhelming smell of hookah and whatever they use to mop the floors with did not blend well. We almost walked out but wanted to support and it was bearable. I love silk and I do go there pretty often, even when I just want to grab something to eat after work because they close at 2am but when they are crowded, they have a hard time keeping up with the service but they do help each other so that they can keep up. The foo is always great but I don't know if the chef changed, the Brussels sprouts were not good the second time I went and maybe it was because they had a lot of orders. The drinks are always great! I order a French 75 every time and I'm always pleased with it. The hookah is cool and they do come around to check on it. They can get a little pricey especially when you order drinks and I think the hookah is pretty high but it's high everywhere now. It's a nice setting and the bathroom is decent so that's a plus for me because lounge barrooms get pretty nasty. They also have chargers available in the main seating area so I think that's convenient and the mirrors are a nice touch as well. I like silk and I hope they stay open for a while! read more

Silk Lounge is a late-night gem with amazing food, vibes, and service--with just a few quirks. We came for the late-night dinner menu (7-9 PM on a Sunday) and had a great experience overall. Our waitress Bri was sweet, attentive, and personable. She's from the Bronx (shoutout to her amazing nail plug!) and gave us solid menu recommendations. She even crafted a custom mocktail based on the flavor notes I liked--citrusy and refreshing. Love the personalized touch! For food, we started with the oxtail eggrolls, which were incredible--tender oxtail meat paired with rice and peas, giving big Trini pelau vibes. My date had the Rasta Pasta, which was creamy, cheesy, and packed with peppers, spinach, and seasoned shrimp. I got the lamb chops, perfectly cooked to medium and paired with a sweet-savory sauce, asparagus, and mashed potatoes. Everything was flavorful and well-executed. The music was a great mix of R&B and hip-hop--perfect for millennials--and the vibe was chill yet lively. Me and a group of friends ended up at Silk Lounge after brunch while looking for a nearby spot to chill that had hookah. It was right down the street, not too packed when we pulled up (probably because it was freezing outside), and the vibes were solid from the jump. We ordered hookah and let me just say, it was super bussing. They kept coming around with refills nonstop. Honestly, almost too attentive in the best way. We tried telling them we had literally just sat down and didn't need a refill yet, but they insisted anyway. I swear after every refill, the hookah somehow got stronger and stronger. I don't know what they were putting in that coal, but it was hitting. One of the biggest reasons we stayed longer than planned was the music. The playlist was on point. Good enough that we ended up hanging out at least 30 minutes to an hour longer than we originally intended just because the vibes were right. Hospitality overall was great. Since it was cold outside, they had space heaters set up, which made a big difference and showed they were thinking about guest comfort. The only thing holding this back from five stars is the water situation. No tap water, and a bottled water came out to about $6 after tax, which is wild. They fix that, and this is an easy five-star spot all day. read more

I recently checked out Silk Lounge on a Wednesday night as they were hosting a candle making class. It's such a vibe! SL one of the city's newest Black-owned hotspots, and they just celebrated their 1-year anniversary! With Happy Hour all day on Monday and food and drink specials Tuesday to Friday, Silk is the perfect spot to unwind. Rahel was our attentive server. We tried the lemon drop and margaritas, paired with their must-have oxtail egg rolls, wings, veggies, and fries--everything was delicious! Service, ordered chicken and waffles only got waffles wanted to take his service charge off which was 6.00 and charge me 30.00 for the waffle. Will never come here again. It's cold no heat they have space heaters (2). The food didn't come out in a timely manner a couple people got their food as everyone else was packing up. This is an elegant and intimate lounge spot located in northwest DC with a decent sized bar with a couple of tv's and surrounded by comfy couches and chairs. I stopped in during the evening hours (their happy hour runs from 5pm-9pm) and their menu features items like beef and chicken empanadas, fish tacos, and Rasta pasta ($12-$36). The staff was quite pleasant and helpful providing great suggestions for items to try given this was my first time at the location. I decided to test out the oxtail eggrolls and the chicken wings as well. The items arrived swiftly and were delicious: the wings were well-seasoned and not overcooked, and the oxtail eggroll was everything I had hoped it would be, tender and flavorful. Silk is one of my favorite places to visit these days in dc. The food, ambiance, and overall environment are always great, and the manager and owner are very kind. On a few visits, I did notice a bartender (I believe her name is Shay, with glasses) who always seems disengaged and unhappy while working. I overheard a conversation she was having with another bartender that stated "The night was very slow and she hates girls coming in that are entitled". Anywho the conversation didn't have anything to do with her workplace and she was very unfriendly,unprofessional. I completely understand that happens, but guest-facing energy plays a big role in the overall experience. I hope she's able to find a role or environment where she feels more fulfilled and positive. read more

We made reservations a few days ago for 4:00pm early dinner at the Silk Lounge. Our reservation was confirmed via text yesterday. We catch a Lyft from VA to DC with great anticipation of finding a new spot to bring our out of town guests. When we arrived, the door was locked. I called the number on the website, and a man answered and said that they were closed, and we should've received a message. We informed him that we did NOT receive a message, and we were standing outside the door. He told me to hang on, and he hung up. We thought he was coming to open the door, but he never called back or opened the door. We then called back, and the same man answered and said that he thought we were contacted - there was a water leak, and they had to close but would be open in an our. We told him that was unacceptable since we were literally standing outside. We have NEVER had such terrible customer service without even stepping into the establishment! Still, no word from the Lounge. SMH!!! read more
