The actual hookah was mid at best for D.C I was expecting a lot better. Then when it came to the bill we were charged $4 for each bottle (of which we were not even told there was a charge at all for water, and no we did not specifically ask for a sealed bottle all we asked for was water the sever never said tap or bottled, she just automatically brought us sealed) when on the menu they were priced at $3.50 sure it's .50 but when there was five that .50 extra could have almost bought another bottle. Also when she brought the bill she did not even show the itemized bill at first all she showed was the tip screen which upon doing the math from what we ordered vs paid we realized the amount was way higher than what we got and so we asked for the copy of the receipt only to find out there was ALREADY a service charge on there of which was NOT a credit card charge because we paid in cash and when asked what the cash total was she told us $60.31 yet the copy showed the cash price was $57.91 also they charge for charcoal, what am i suppose to do bring my own charcoal? i've never had to pay extra for charcoal they just include it with hookah price, absolutely ridiculous. Not to mention the vibes in this place is like an absolute funeral, all the pictures made this place look so fun and great, but no it was worse than funeral. I felt even more so like i was at a funeral after I realized how badly my wallet was robbed. I will never come back here.

The purple neon lighting creates this sultry, intimate atmosphere without being overwhelming. It's the kind of place where you can actually connect, laugh, and still feel like you're outside living. The music was a vibe. Smooth R&B blended with some Jamaican flavor and nostalgic cuts that made the room feel alive. It wasn't chaotic; it was curated. The sound set the tone without overpowering the experience. What stood out most was how comfortable the space felt. Beautiful crowd, welcoming energy, and that perfect balance between lounge and nightlife. It's not just somewhere you go to be seen; it's somewhere you go to feel good. Where this place falls flat for me is the food. We went for brunch so I'm not sure what their lunch and dinner menu looked like but I had their chicken and waffles. Typically, I'm used to having this dish with just chicken on top of a waffle with a side of syrup that you can pour over. This dish was drenched with a sauce that wasn't syrup but still sort of sweet? It wasn't necessarily *bad*, it's just that I wasn't expecting it. I didn't end up finishing it and my friends weren't impressed with some of the other dishes. I will say though...that Harissa Shrimp? Give me 14 of them.

A meal with a VIEW!…read more I travel a lot for work, which means I get the pleasure of sharing meals with colleagues, friends, and sometimes people I've only just met. This past week brought me to Washington, DC for a banking conference, and somehow a work trip turned into one of those nights you know you're going to remember. We were invited to VUE Rooftop for sunset, cocktails, dinner, and a table full of new and old friends. First, THAT VIEW. You are so ridiculously close to the White House that I felt like if a staff member walked past a window naked, I'd be able to count their pores. Probably a little more government transparency than anyone asked for, but you get the idea. The view is incredible. There were nine of us around the table, watching the sun set over Washington while working our way through cocktails and some seriously good food. We shared burrata, crab cakes, steak tartare, and plenty more around the table. Everything was beautifully prepared and absolutely delivered. Is it a little pricey? Yep. But you're also paying for one heck of a front-row seat to Washington, DC. Thankfully, the food holds its own against the view, so it doesn't feel like you're paying premium prices just for the scenery. The night ended with lots of laughter, pictures on the indoor swing, and then there may or may not have been an adventure involving electric scooters through Washington, DC. We don't talk about that part. It's like Bruno. I have the bruises. That's all you need to know. So we'll stick to the important stuff: fantastic company, delicious food, great cocktails, an incredible sunset, and one unforgettable view. VUE Rooftop did not disappoint. Sometimes the best part of traveling for work is the part that doesn't feel like work at all

Very bizarre interaction. No smile, no personality, just made me feel unwanted and brushed off. We told him we planned to stay- and ordered drinks. I ordered a French 75 and Leo asked what "gin I would prefer" I told him he could use what the recipe called for and he pushed back again irritated saying I'd need to choose. I was a but taken by this so I asked what the "baseline gin was" he rolled his eyes and pointed to the liquor shelves suggesting I just pick. I had never experienced something like this or treatment like this. I again asked for just the baseline and he walked away. I'm sharing because Leo's behavior can be viewed as discrimination in a situation like this. He also could just treat every customer this way and in either case it's unfortunate for the business. On a more positive note! The stars are for Chris. Chris walked up and smiled "what can I get you?" I asked for a French 75 and he replied "Baseline ok?" I smiled and said yes and within minutes he had my drink prepared. Chris was warm, welcoming, and there to provide drinks and exemplary customer service. Night ended well overall and I still very much enjoyed the ambiance of this rooftop.

Christopher Chapman and I had a personal relationship that ended approximately two years ago, and I had not patronized this bar in roughly two years. When I visited on September 19, I did not speak to Christopher, order from him, or cause any disturbance. I later returned with friends on a night Christopher wasn't even working and was denied entry. When questioned, Christopher explicitly told me, "Your friends are allowed. You aren't." He then accused me of using my passport to "sneak in," which simply did not happen. If there is a legitimate conduct-based reason for banning me, one has never been provided. Instead, I am apparently being singled out because of a personal relationship that ended years ago. It is deeply concerning to see a personal grievance carried out through a public-facing business--especially against a woman who is simply minding her business, peacefully enjoying an evening with friends, and making no attempt to interact with him. Prospective customers can decide for themselves what they think of that.
