Ah Indian wedding coming up and I need a new outfit. Well Gerrard St is out b/c long ago most of the clothing stores have closed/moved. Mississauga and Brampton is of course the next logical area to go...but I don't feel like driving that far. So my dad and aunts told me about this small store in the A.dot (Ajax) so I decided the next time I visited my fam I would head here. It's small but well packed with lots of options - casual pieces up to more elaborate pieces for parties and weddings. They also do stitching which is exactly what I needed as I already had the fabric. I had a few ideas for what I wanted designed and when I showed the owner (I'm assuming she is), she told me that the amount and type of fabric I had wouldn't suit what I wanted. This I appreciated b/c I know other people would be like ok, ok and just stitch it. But she explained it wouldn't fall correctly or when I sat down it would bunch up. I could buy more fabric to get it how I wanted but I was running out of time so I settled for a traditional lengha instead of something more fashionable. She only charged $40 for stitching which is amazing - but of course will need to see the finished product before judging, but for $40 I don't expect perfection. I took a peek at some of her pieces and they seem very reasonably priced...but the selection seems for an older crowd, but you never know what gem you could find. Next time I will visit her first with my design and ask for her recommendations for what fabrics to buy as she seems to have a good idea of what should be used. Firstly, all the products were completed two days later than expected. We were forced to go to the store multiple times before we received the final pieces. Even then, I was not impressed. The fitting of the pieces were not proper, for example, the end of the sleeves were much tighter than the rest of the sleeve, and it was shorter than what we had agreed on. As well, the torso was much looser than the measurements she took. We ended up having to pay more than she originally said and she even implied that she gave us a discount. Finally, she forgot that she left a sewing needle in the sleeve which ended up pricking me later. I was not impressed at all. 2/10 would not recommend. read more

The only reason I am giving this store a one star is because there is no option for anything lower. I had some clothes sewn from this lady and thinking that I can trust Rubina Alvi the owner of the store I gave her all the material i purchased. I even told her that there was extra material i will be using for my niece when she is done with this. I gave her 3.5 meters of cloth for my 7 year old daughter. She made the outfit and did not give me the material back blaming it on a lady she hired. I told her the material was expensive and i want it back and she told me let me call the lady while your trying on your clothes. So we tried on the clothes and she picked up her phone to call someone. I didn't hear any talking. I came out and asked her what the lady said and she said that the lady didn't pick up the call. Just then the phone rang and it was daughter returning her mothers call. I can tell by the exchange of the conversation. I knew right then she did not call the lady. I ignored it and she said since my mom lived near by she would drop it to my mother. I agreed. Then she was eying what she sewed complimenting herself and i agreed she sewed my daughters dress very nicely. Mine not so much but I didnt care as my daughters was good. She then said while she was sewing our clothes her needle kept getting stuck in the machine. At that point I knew this lady lied about hiring someone else to sew our clothes and she had taken my extra material to sew it for her daughter. But i kept quiet paid her in full and told her i will expect the cloth to be dropped to my mothers home which is by the store by tuesday which was 4 days away. She didn't drop it or call us. So i called her on thursday and she gave me some sob story about the lady being sick. So i am like okay i will be in area sunday so will call her then for it. She said sure no problem. I called her sunday still some sob story but now she started fighting with me and yelling at me for not trusting her a total stranger and then she disconnected the call on me. I called her back as this was expensive material and at this point this lady was very rude. She said she will drop it to my mother house by 7 pm. Of course she is a liar so she didn't. I finally called her back today tuesday and out of anger she dropped off the cloth to my mother but she gave me back 0.75 meters instead of 2 meters and she cut it in shreds. The lady has some nice clothes there in her store, but she is a liar and a thief if you do have to shop there buyer beware. But never ever get your clothes sewn from there unless you give her the exact material. read more
