Came here last Sunday as my good friend is getting married soon and its finally time for her to do some dress shopping! Had an appointment for 2:30pm. Parking is very limited, but luckily we were able to park at the side of the boutique. The door is locked, but once the receptionist notices you she will unlock the door and kindly greets you as you walk in. They do inform you to remove your socks and provide you with slippers. We were met up with the stylist, Claire I believe. She was quick from the beginning, she got the dresses ready before hand as my friend had told her what styles she liked couple days ago via email. The stylist was very knowledgeable and easy to approach and ask questions. The hour flew by very quickly and I enjoyed helping my friend pick what suits her best on her style and personality. She chose her best two. But we all knew she wasn't planning on buying her dress today. Great experience with amazing stylist. Heather and Madison were so awesome to work with! I bought my dress the end of December and haven't had the chance to sit and write this review until now. Totally in love with this place! I think they have a great selection of dresses. I definitely want to point out that the bridal industry is truly lacking in being able to provide the same service to all sizes and shaped brides. If you're on the curvier side like me and just starting your dress shopping or have already done so, I'm sure you will have/had the experience of having limited selection. Hang in there! I think the squeezing into a dress just to see how it may look on you is one of the least flattering experiences you can have as a plus size bride. Anyways that being said Blu Ivory is one of the places in toronto that you can actually see what your dress options are prior to coming in and separate looking at bridal gowns into categories/plus size. This saves so much time. Honestly went to multiple stores so I can tell you how I enjoyed my experience here. Heather was awesome! You actually fill out a little 'get to know the bride' type form prior to coming in for your appointment and when Heather told me she picked mine based on what I wrote I was already excited about working with her. I loved being able to try on the dresses and feel good seeing them actually clipped and fit in. I ventured to this location and had a terrible experience here. When I asked the associate to let me know what size the dresses were, she told me to look myself. I thought she was supposed to help me find a dress. I will never return here, nor would I recommend this store to anyone. They told me dresses were available on the phone and then when I came in, I was told none of them were available except one. This was probably the favourite bridal store I went to while searching for my wedding dress! Before you come in for your appt., they ask you questions about what you are looking for and list options from the website you would like to try on. The boutique was very nice and organized. My consultant, Heather was amazing and very patient. She had already pulled my options prior to me arriving and any other dresses she thought I would like. I actually had changed my mind about my wedding dress and she had no issues pulling new ones based on what I told her. Unfortunately, I didn't find my dress here because there weren't a lot of options for what I was looking for within my budget (I was looking for something very specific). However, I would definitely recommend to visit this place because it was the best experience I had during my wedding dress hunt! They were also really quick to respond to my emails! read more

Over the summer, I got engaged & heard great recommendations about Blu Ivory from multiple people. I knew I wanted to come here and look for dresses, and I only wish I came here sooner because it was a great experience! I will say, I am glad I had went to other bridal stores first so I could narrow down my choices to what exactly I was looking for. It's hard to find a dress on your first appt, especially when you're only give an hour or two (max), and can only try on 5-6. So even though I wish I came here first, I feel like I might not have had the chance to find "the one" without trying on a bunch more (to avoid having a FOMO moment). Madison (owner) and Susan (my consultant) were a pleasure to work with, alongside all the rest of the employees working. Everyone was so nice and made great recommendations (& gladly took a dress off a mannequin for me to try on). The dress I ultimately chose, was something I envisioned before I even started looking for dresses (but could never find). Granted, I will need to make some alterations and add straps, I could truly picture what it will look like with Susan's help. As she does the alterations for the store, she was straight up with what she could/couldn't do (where I got the same confirmation from other stores, but online reviews had proved differently), and even pinned the dress appropriately & added straps so I could see what it might look like. I bought my wedding dress from this store today. I bumped into it by accident when visiting other bridal stores nearby. I'm so surprised that it's under the radar. They had an amazing selection of gowns. The atmosphere was relaxed, open and very chic. Violeta helped me try on the dresses and she was very warm. I fell in love with a Paraezo gown, and it turned out that the designer was in the store. He was surprisingly modest and very nice and even also helped me with ideas for accessories. They also had a really great selection of non-bridal evening dresses both short and long and I will definitely go here next time I need a dress for a special event. Holt Renfrew no more. I've been to several other bridal stores and needed to buy a dress on a short time frame. They all limited me to choices on the rack but here they were even able to rush order me the dress to arrive in 3 weeks. This was one of the stops I made during my bridal appointment spree I made a few weekends back. I was greeted by Madison (I believe she is the store manager) at the front, I told her I was a bit early for my appointment, to which she said it was fine since her next appointment was going to be late anyways. I told her the style I was looking for, and she asked me if I preferred her pulling dresses from the rack for me to try on, or whether I wanted to do it myself. I told her I preferred both. After we picked a few dresses I wanted to try on, she kindly asked me if it was okay if I stepped into the change room with me to help me put it on. I am really glad she did, because some places just assume and come on inside with you. I only really saw the one change room, it is really spacious and has floor length mirrors forming and L-shape so you can see the dress from all angles. You also get to step on a platform to see how the dress falls. I brought my mom and my maid of honor to the appointment and they were sitting on the couch below. Madison brought me a dress, and as soon as I put in on I felt like a million bucks. My mom and maid of honor agreed that it was what I was looking for but felt as though it was still missing something. So Madison helped me by bringing in a sash/belt. While I really liked the dress I had on, I wasn't 100% committed to buying it just there and then, mainly because a) it was a bit out of my budget, and b) I felt the need to try on others to see if that dress really was 'the one'. Madison was really understanding, and even let me take photos (this was a really big plus, mainly because most of the shops along St. Clair don't allow you to) and suggested that I shop around and that don't let price be a deterrent as she could help lower the cost of the dress. I am almost positive that I will return back to the store, as I am still thinking about the dress. Being to other bridal boutiques, I felt as though I really lucked out. I had a consultant that listened to me and asked for my opinions and even the opinions of my entourage. While they may not have a large selection, say like David's Bridal, I find that the quality of their dresses is beautiful. I came here with my bridesmaids looking for bridesmaid gowns. I have such high hopes as I've always wanted to come here since I used to pass this place everyday when I used to live in Toronto. However, it was such a disappointment. I came here in the beginning of January, with my girls, and was very excited since it's the first time they will be trying gowns on.We were such in high spirits, and after getting my wedding gown at another place, we assumed that this place would be the same, if not better. When we came in, we were directed downstairs for the bridesmaids gown and was shown the gowns. The gowns were beautiful and there were a lot of gowns to choose from. We were told by the girl that was gonna help us, I forgot her name, she is a younger girl that we will start once the rest of my bridal party gets there which we were fine with. When all of us were there, the saleslady came back down. I told her that the girls were just going to try whatever they want and pick and choose what they like and stick to 1 collection, as this is the first time we are going bridesmaid gown shopping. There were 8 of us there, all in good mood and excited to try on the beautiful dresses they have. The saleslady looked like she did not want to be there, and was not helpful at all. She looked bored and basically looked annoyed that we are trying so much dresses on. I had to tell her to clip the back of the dresses when the girls came out of the fitting room and was not very engaging at all. We did not feel welcome and wanted, and it pretty much set the mood for the entire appointment. She did not make any of the girls feel good, not even give an opinion which dresses looked nice or not. I'm not sure if she treated us like that because she thought we weren't going to buy the dresses or she just did not want to be there that weekend. But we were so turned off. I asked her if we can get the name of the collection before we leave and I was told that they were not supposed to that, and that I just have to look online, which was fine. Overall, we decided to leave, as we did not feel wanted and supported throughout the process. It's such a shame, since they had such beautiful dresses. I felt that if we were treated differently, it would've made a different impact and would probably get the dresses there. Needless to say, we had another appointment that day (where I got my wedding gown), and ended up getting all 7 bridesmaid gowns there. She was so nice, warm, and welcoming, which we were looking for at Blu Ivory Bridal in the first place. The store itself is beautiful which has lots of selections, I just wished that the saleslady gave us a better customer service, as it left a bad taste in our mouth. read more

The staff at Blue Ivory were friendly and nice. However, I was very disappointed and unimpressed with how my finished bridesmaid dress fitted after alterations. I spent $150+ on alterations and went in for 4 fittings. During my first fitting, the seamstress figured the dress was too tight and had to let it out around the waist, and I would have to come for my second fitting. During my second fitting, I can fit into my dress, but we figured alterations would have to be made around the chest area, the top, straps, and cups were to be inserted. For my third visit, the chest area had to be altered again, as the pleats were hanging loose, the cups were not properly stitched yet, and I came in with my shoes to see how much would need to be hemmed at the bottom. During my fourth (and last) fitting, the length and top had been fixed, except the cups were not stitched in properly...I was really disappointed, so I had to wait at the store while the seamstress stitched the cups up...but I felt they were not properly stitched. When I wore the dress, there's a gap in the chest area and it showed a bit of the edges of the cups. I explained this to the seamstress, who then unstitched the cups and restitched/sewed it (while I was in my dress). I felt like it was just not done properly, the cups seem to be hanging loose, and do not help support the dress on me, and now I have to worry about how I will wear the dress with the gaps and the edges of the cups showing. The seamstress did not seem like she wanted to help, she said that's how the dress is, and because of my petite figure, it's hard to adjust. I was deeply disappointed and not happy with the final result of my dress as this is a professional seamstress at a very popular bridal boutique. I paid a total of almost $500 for a bridesmaid dress and alterations and I would expect it to fit perfectly with a professional seamstress who knows exactly what needs to be done and fixed. I would not recommend receiving alterations at this store. read more

I have never given five stars to any of my reviews, as I make sure it shouldn't be easy to get. All I can say is that I'm in awe of how genuine their employees are. I previously bought a wedding dress from them about 4 months ago, which was just an amazing experience too, but this time around I couldn't believe they took it upon themselves to help me. My original dress got severely damaged due to flooding and I now have twelve days to find another one. I'm literally in shock of what is happening just days before my wedding, and went to local bridal shops near my place. They tried to help but I could tell that they were using my vulnerability to their advantage, hiking their prices as they didn't have styles that were flattering and would have to alter a lot. I felt nervous going back to Blü Ivory, as I knew they would wonder why I'm there since I actually loved my original dress but from the moment I went in, I felt my worries slowly washing away. I explained my dilemma and they ensured me that I will find something, just as I found one previously from them. It was all hands on deck and they got me into dresses, staying positive and joking around with me. They listened to my MIL requests and decked me out with all the accessories, got me an appointment for alterations ASAP and kept ensuring me that everything will be ready and perfect days before the wedding! I didn't even know of their discounts for buying accessories alongside the dress, which was more than I could have asked for from them, as they've done so much already for me last minute. All in all, they have a strong team that is running on the same motivation to ensure their clients walk out happy, regardless of you buying or not. I do know that you see real character in moments of crisis, and the people of Blu Ivory have gone out of their way to help me see the positive in all of this. I went to Blu Ivory after a disappointing experience in another bridal store up in Woodbridge, so I was feeling a bit discouraged. As soon as I arrived I knew it was going to be a completely different experience here! The people who greeted me were so friendly and we were made to feel at ease straight away. Their selection of dresses is just the right size so I was not overwhelmed, and they are all beautiful (seriously, I don't know how I walked out with just one dress!). Jayda our consultant was so nice and genuine, it felt like I was shopping with another friend. She let us choose the dresses I wanted to try on and also made some suggestions of her own - it was great to be able to have some independence but also some expert advice. I tried on a few dresses and none of them were quite right, but I never felt pressured and was focused on having a good time and enjoying all the beautiful dresses. Jayda really made the whole thing such a positive experience and my friends and I were so happy and impressed. I was not expecting to buy my dress that day but when I tried on this particular dress I just knew it was the one! I thought that only happened in movies! Jayda took my measurements and explained the process to me, so I know when to expect my dress and the time to allow for alterations. I was so happy with my experience and I left elated and extra excited for my wedding. I cannot recommend Blu Ivory enough! read more

I have been shopping for bridal dresses in Sacramento, California and had a couple of dresses in mind. I flew to Toronto to visit my family and we went to Blu Ivory to try on some bridesmaid dresses for my sisters. The staff was amazing. They made us feel comfortable and did not pressure us to buy the dresses. Instead, they allowed us to try on many different styles. I wasn't planning to buy my wedding dress here but after trying on some dresses for fun, I fell in love with a sweetheart neck mermaid dress. Thao, my bridal consultant was so accommodating and patient with me. She was able to customize my dress with beautiful beaded straps and create a low cut back dress. I ended up purchasing 4 bridesmaid dresses and my wedding gown here. All flower girl dresses and hair accessories were also from Blu Ivory. Blu Ivory was also able to rush order my dress and alter it for me a month later when I flew back to Toronto. They vacuumed sealed the dress to fit into my carryon so I can fly back with it!!! The prices are very reasonable and they have a lot of great selection. Be sure to check it out if you are in need of a wedding, bridal or evening dress. read more

The store is small. There is barely anywhere to sit if you bring someone along (I believe there is at least one change room where there is actually nowhere to sit). The sales associate comes into the change room with you while you put the dress on. I am not shy about being naked around other women but I feel that many women would feel uncomfortable with this. They try to make the dresses fit better by having extra material sewn into the small samples rather than using the clamps to put everything in place. Takes longer to put on dresses because of this but it can give you a better idea of what the dress is going to look like. You can't wear shoes inside. You're not allowed to take pictures. The sales associate that I was working with was annoying (there really is no other way of describing her). I told her that it was the first time I was trying on dresses and she kept trying to push me into saying that I LOVED the dress that I had on. Was quite pushy which made the experience uncomfortable and unpleasant. You are allowed to choose which dresses you would like to try on though. All in all, I recommend going to other boutiques. read more

I recently began my search for the perfect wedding dress. With an overwhelming amount of wedding dress shops Toronto has to offer, I decided to start my search with my New! neighbourhood shop Blu Ivory. I went with the intention to just window shop, since I hadn't made an appointment (which I recommend you make first). To my surprise the staff was very warm, welcoming and helpful since I had no appointment, no clue what I wanted or looked good on me. The level of comfortability the stylists offer me was unbelievable and made the experience that more special. Most if not all of their gowns are beautiful beyond words and come in a wide range of colours and sizes, if only I could wear all of them. I did fall in love and purchase a wedding dress by Paraezo Couture, which so happens to be the house designer at Blu Ivory. My next visit to Blu Ivory will be with my bridesmaids in toe, my mother and soon to be mother in law, in selection of their dresses, which Blu Ivory also offers a beautiful selection of. Lovely experience: Booked an appointment at Blu Ivory for a Friday afternoon. My Mam, Sister and I arrived and were greeted by Madison (store manager/owner?) who said she was just finishing up with a previous bride and would be right with us. She brought an additional chair for us all to have a seat. When about 5 mins had passed Madison checked back in with us, apologized and told us to look around the store and take out any dresses we liked. When the other bride left we had Madison's undivided attention and she was lovely. I tried on about 10 dresses and wasn't rushed at all. She allowed me to try on different styles and helped me in and out of each dress. We narrowed it down to two favorites and she wrote the name and style down for me. The store has a slightly smaller selection than some other salons I visited but still had something to suit all at a variety of price points. I had a fab experience in the store and Madison followed up with a phone call a few days later. She was professional and friendly. Would definitely recommend. read more

I had an absolutely incredible experience at Blu Ivory Bridal! I went to 5 different bridal shops in my wedding dress shopping escapades and can safely say that Blu Ivory was by far my favourite. The entire team was very welcoming and kind, but Madison (the manager) helped me in my appointment and was literally the BEST! She was the most attentive, understanding, and helpful salesperson I have ever met. When I was debating between two dresses, she gave me some really insightful advice and suggested I come back in a couple weeks so that I have time to think about it. The fact that she wasn't pushy at all the make the sale that day and instead clearly just wanted the best for me was so amazing. I ended up coming back two weeks later as she suggested and picked a dress, and I couldn't be happier! I'm so excited and I can't thank Madison and Blu Ivory Bridal enough! Out of the 15 bridal stores i visited, this was the last store. When you walk in, the store is quaint and clean. There is a beautiful variety of dresses from mermaid to A-line to a full blown out ballgown (note: there are not many sheath dresses though) with a wide price range. Their lace dresses are particularly very elegant, and you can find dresses that are both simple and grand - from little it no beading to a lot of beading, full skirts, etc. You get my point. The people that help you are very helpful and kind. The lady who helped me (forgot her name) gave her honest opinion for each of the dresses that i tried on. This was important to me as someone as indecisive as myself (hence, visiting 15 bridal boutiques...) They may come in the change room with you. However if you tell them that you are uncomfortable with it, they will give you your space. Tonia, the seamstress, knows what she is doing...although her manner of speech may be a bit course and direct to some. We worked out an awesome deal for the dress and veil. I ended up buying a tulle ballgown from Paraezo (see attached images). The best thing was that i bought it during a sample sale which cut the cost immensely. Yet, they were kind enough to order me a new one with the price of the sample sale. The dress was a size 10 and im a size 0 so it not only saved the cost of alterations, but got me a brand new, unworn dress for a fraction of the original cost. I also had my bridesmaids dresses altered here (dresses purchased elsewhere). They are fantastic with alterations at a pretty great price compared to Davids Bridal (never get your dress altered at DB. Absolutely horrible job with expenses that are so inflated that you'd be able to blow up a hot air balloon with the money you could save at Blu Ivory). Tonia does a splendid job. Overall my experience at Blu Ivory was good. However, i have to chop off 2 stars for this one reason: on the day that i was supposed to pick up my dress, i had a friend pick it up for me. I wasnt able to go in the week of the wedding as i was very busy working and planning the wedding. However, on the day of my wedding, i had realized that they forgot to give the veil to my friend. (Note to all future brides: always check to make sure that the veil is included with the dress at pick up if you buy it from the same place otherwise you or your planner might end up like me on your wedding day - a headless chicken running around trying to arrange it for pick up and finding a plan B if it doesnt arrive at your venue on time). Although it was a simple mistake, it caused a lot of headache on the morning of my wedding. I had to call the store and arrange to have another friend pick it up at the store. Not sure who was working at the time, but my friend told me that the woman at cash was very unapologetic and slightly rude. Thankfully, the veil arrived right before the ceremony started. Post-wedding: Due to the mistake on their part, they offered dry cleaning service which usually costs a couple hundred dollars. Score (?) All in all, a good under-the-radar bridal boutique thats worth the visit. Of course, depends on your personality and what type of customer service you prefer. Want the grand "say yes to the dress" moment here with champagne and a bell you can ring? You might not find that here, but youll definitely find some great dresses at a reasonable budget (dresses may start at $1300 and up) and some great customer service (aside from my wedding day hiccup with the veil). read more

Ladies, let me just start off by saying that THIS is the bridal boutique you've been looking for!! Blu Ivory was my 8th, maybe 9th, bridal boutique on my search for the perfect dress... And first of all, the boutique itself is beautiful!! You might ask why this is important - but up until I walked into Blu Ivory, I had been under the impression that I had to stick to stores that looked like factory outlets in order to stay within my budget. So needless to say, my shopping experience had been pretty depressing until Blu Ivory proved that I had been SO wrong! ...because, let's face it, no girl imagines doing their wedding dress shopping in a factory outlet!! Secondly, the dresses that Blu Ivory carries are absolutely gorgeous! They had everything from Stella York to Essence of Australia to Mikaella ...and at prices that are actually affordable!! After going from shop to shop to shop that didn't have ONE dress that fit my vision, this was such a refreshing change! Before Blu Ivory, I was convinced that I knew what I wanted. I had Pinterest boards and screenshots of so many dresses that I thought I wanted and was sure would look good on me - but I quickly learned that you never know what looks good on you until you see the dress in person! I had been to so many "boutiques" that don't even let you look at their selection and basically just pull dresses out of their stockroom based on what you describe and what your budget is. Blu Ivory gives you full access to their entire selection. They even have a room filled with the most amazing dresses that are all on sale! Believe me when I say that that I am one of those girls that believe that sale dresses are reject dresses... But clearly this wasn't the case at Blu Ivory because we found so many dresses we loved in that back room that we had to break up the fitting into 10 dresses at a time! Third!!! Blu Ivory has dresses in all price ranges! We found the most gorgeous dresses by designers like Maggie Sottero starting from $399! The dress I ended up purchasing was the perfect lace, fit and flare gown by Mikaella. It was already 50% off because it was part of the sample sale and I was lucky enough to catch the additional boxing day 10% off as well! Lastly, the hands-down best part of my experience was Aine, the sales associate who helped me out. Let me start by saying that I've been extremely unlucky in timing my wedding because 3 out of 4 girls in my bridal party are out of the country until 3 months before my actual wedding date. So I attended my appointment at Blu Ivory with just one of my bridesmaids. It didn't occur to me until later but Aine's honest, laid-back and fun demeanor made it feel like I had another close friend with me helping me choose my wedding dress. She was extremely knowledgeable on all the dresses I tried on and I can't thank her enough for her truthful feedback and fun attitude that really made my experience memorable. After multiple appointments at numerous bridal boutiques where the pushy sales associates are just trying to get a quick sale out of you, Blu Ivory exceeded my expectations in every aspect. Ladies, you will be able to see that this is my very first Yelp review as I don't usually write reviews on any forum. Which is probably why my fiance keeps walking by and asking what in the hell I'm doing lol... But I just want to say it was Aine's customer service that ultimately prompted me to "Sign up and Post" this review. Buyer beware. I went to this boutique because I wanted to support a small business - but the problem with small bridal boutiques is that they do not carry a wide range of sample sizes. Brides are expected to order a dress that they have never tried on in their size. This is what happened to me- the consultant measured me and placed an order for my gown... but when the dress arrived it did not fit (I was the same size as I was when I purchased the dress). The store's staff was courteous but in the end were unable / unwilling to help me; I had to buy a second wedding dress just weeks before my wedding - which was really stressful and costly. Where did I go? Davids Bridal, who carries a wide range of sizes in stock, so you know exactly what you are getting. The lessons I have learned: if you are buying a mermaid or trumpet gown, seriously consider ordering a size up because it is much easier and cheaper to take in a gown than to let one out (this is something the Blue Ivory's staff should have known as professionals and should have advised me). The second lesson is go to a store that has a wide range of samples so that you can actually try your size on. I wish I can recommend this shop, because their gowns are nice and my initial experience was positive -- but in the end, they really let me down and were more interested in protecting their bottom line than supporting their brides. read more

I bought my gorgeous evening gown from Blu Ivory Bridal & Evening store in early December to go to a Charity Event and I could not have been more impressed with the service and knowledge that was provided by the staff. The space is immaculate and the dressing rooms are huge. This is for sure a hidden gem, and a place to go whenever in need of evening wear or bridal wear. They carry many beautiful lines from various designers and they have something for everyone. I was in and out of the store within 20 mins and never looked back or had doubts about my purchase. Everyone complimented me on the dress at the event and kept asking where I had purchased it! It looked like an Oscars dress!
